Celtics among the teams interested in CJ Miles?
(via the CB forums):
"Some of the talk in Orlando had C.J. Miles as a player of interest on the Jazz's roster, with a half-dozen teams apparently having inquired about Miles, including Toronto, Boston and New Jersey. Miles cannot be traded without his consent through July 25, the one-year anniversary of the Jazz's decision to match the offer sheet Miles signed with Oklahoma City. " - Salt Lake Tribune

Some have said Tony Allen is the better player, but their stats are very similar.
At this point I’d be up for just trying someone new. I’m tired of waiting for Tony, personally.

tony allen > Cj Miles??
I don’t know if that can be true. Miles started all 72 games he played for the Jazz last season. He had a pretty hot start to the season, especially towards the tail end of november, but then was pretty inconsistent offensively through the rest of the year.
I don’t know much about him. He’s a defensive guy right? I figure he’s GOT to be better then Tony Allen just because of the simple fact that he was a starter for the Jazz last season. Though he didn’t start any of their playoff games? I can’t remember but wasn’t he nursing an injury towards the end of the season?
Is he considered a “young vet” after 4 years in the league? How many seasons does it take to get that label?

Kobe abused him
Just killed him during their series. Kobe did him worse than Lee. So I am not sure he is a defensive guy. At least he did not look like it to me.
It doesn't matter who is better
The Celtics would only do this to free up a roster spot. That means Giddens or Walker plus TA. It would then enable them to resign Powe if he gets healthy, which would be a much better use of the spot than TA, who doesn’t really fit into their plans any more.
CJ is already better than Tony on offense, and he's younger.
He’s only 21 years old, Tony’s 27. Based on his stat line, he and Tony score about the same per minute on the floor, but: Miles turns the ball over less than half as often (no surprise there); he’s a much better shooter – he shoots 3s at .357 already, and hits almost 88% of his free throws; he probably doesn’t go to the rack as often, because he shoots fewer free throws. Net, though, he’s clearly better than Tony on O because of the TOs.
The area Tony shows an edge is on D – he steals about twice as many and has half a block more per minute. Add up offense and defense, and Bball reference thinks CJ is a better player (WS 3.0 to 1.6) though I admit I’m not sure what that damn stat means.
My own view – the most important stat is that CJ is already at TA’s level and he’s 6 years younger. If he’s not a complete bonehead (or derailed by injury) he should become a substantially better player.
I am making one assumption...
I’m assuming Miles is not a huge defensive liability, which is impossible to tell from the stats…
Good comments Sophomore
Don’t know this player but have watched Tony for years. Time for Tony to move on. I like the “6 years younger” feature.
Too bad. Those periods of “good Tony” were exciting. Just too many brain cramps on defense, dribble off foot on offense and injuries. I confess to being loyal to a fault to the guys we have but Tony needs to re-start somewhere else.
I’m feeling very good about Giddens and Walker though. I think there is NBA game in both of them and Celtics bred hunger in them to show it. I don’t want Grant Hill, classy pro that he is. We need some youth developing on the court and who says we can’t keep both of these guys.
much rather have miles than tony...miles can spot the 1, 2 or 3

Much rather have Anyone than Tony...
If for no other reason…It`s time for a change.
Tony is all “tease”…..plenty of promise, but always under-delivers.
We Might lose Tommy T

C.J. Miles is not coming to Celts for TA alone. The Jazz will want a young promising player like Giddens or Walker. Besides the trade dollars won’t match up otherwise. I still like it. We get a guy who is 6 years younger than TA and two inches taller, can play the wing, still has a big upside, and satisfies a need, and as I said earlier, it frees up a roster spot.
no thanks
I wouldn’t cough up Walker or Giddens for him.
TA and Veal’s expiring deals should be enticement enough for some team looking to unload a longer contract.
My knee jerk reaction?
I’d give up Giddens for him — not Walker.
Here’s a CJ Miles mix I found on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKsYH-yXjdI
disagree
still don’t see the facination with CJ that he’s that he’s worth ditching Giddens just yet.
TA/Veal’s contracts will bring something back of value just for the fact they’re expiring without having to sweeten the deal with actual talent. We may need to wait until the trading deadline but I wouldn’t toss in any ‘sweeteners’ in any deal just yet.
I agree with rrc
If we really want CJ Miles, give up TA + Giddens.
How about another CJ:

would be awesome … only concern there is he’s playing Nellie ball so some of those offensive numbers maybe inflated, but I like what I saw from him last season. I watched a number of Warriors games since I seemed to always have a few players for GS on my fantasy team throughout the season.

Tradeing TA is enough and that’s that. To get your value from TA you have to play him minutes. Doc said it in a interview and I compaired Tony’s production off the bench with limited minutes to extended minutes off the bench. Tony can give you 12 to 15 pts with extended minutes I dont care for his game and think he should be traded. It wont work out for him here.
From looking at the summer league games I beleive Giddens game is just about on par with Walker. Giddens game is defense and his scoreing will be close to Walkers. So stop trying to give away Giddens before you see what he does after training camp. While Walker is my favorite I dont think Walkers game will go to the next level intil he gets a good jumper
