Always A Bridesmaid, Thibodeau Passed Over Again
Unless something unforseen happens, we can expect Thibodeau to be back with the Celtics next year.
Avery Johnson will not be the next coach of the Detroit Pistons, who are instead closing in on hiring Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach John Kuester.
TNT analyst Doug Collins withdrew from consideration last week after sources told ESPN.com that he was formally offered the Detroit job. Boston Celtics associate head coach Tom Thibodeau is the only other known candidate, but sources say Dumars was always planning to move quickly to Kuester if no deal with Johnson could be reached.

Any word on what coaches the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking at? Is Thibodeau a candidate for that job?
Tom is "type-cast" as an assistant
No other explanation…..GM`s just don`t see him as a head coach.
he'll be a head coach
In 2 years – Doc Rivers will quit and Tom will be our head coach.
Agreed Bob
and Danny better make that clear to him.

Pistons hire Kuester as next head coach
The Detroit Pistons have agreed to terms with Cavaliers assistant coach John Kuester to be their new head coach, a source with knowledge of the negotiations told SI.com.
Another league source said the contract was for two seasons with a team option for a third year.
The Pistons zeroed in on Kuester on Monday after contract negotiations with ESPN analyst and former Dallas Mavericks coach Avery Johnson broke down over the weekend. Kuester, a former Pistons assistant coach under Larry Brown from 2004-06 and an NBA assistant coach since 1990, is considered to be one of the most qualified lieutenants in the NBA, having been an assistant for six NBA teams and having worked under top coaches such as Brown and Cleveland’s Mike Brown. Kuester is a former head coach at Boston University and George Washington.
A formal announcement will come later this week.
