"We are ecstatic to be able to add a player the caliber of Rasheed Wallace to our team," Ainge said. "It is not every day that you can add a four-time All-Star and a player with championship experience."
The press conference will be at 4:00 PM and you can catch it on TV at CSN or streaming online at CSNNE.com

i am not ecstatic, danny, but i know you worked hard, got the man you wanted, used your stars and had the support of your owner. what more can you ask for in an imperfect world? i hope it works out for us- i worry about old age and injuries. i know you want hill next, a proven commodity, but i would like fresher legs in that spot. i know you’re not finished and will do more smooth sailing.
Nice recruiting job
But we still have a LONG way to go before Id call this offseason a success /
With Rasheed Signed
Danny can move on and fill in more pieces. Wallace is the biggest piece and it’s great he signed so quickly. As nazzbo said above, I too believe we need some fresh legs that can play. And that ‘s the problem. Fresh legs often belong to players who we can’t get or, if available, can’t really contribute now. The only purpose in bringing Hill here is to sub for Pierce. With Wallace we have enough combinations that between Wallace, Ray Allen, Scals (defensively) I think we can get 10 minutes of rest for Pierce and for Ray Allen. We already know how to controll KG’s minutes. I think we need a true point backup for Rondo before we need Hill. And I would love to see us get a Big to sub for Perk other than Wallace. I think more will be done, but getting Wallace is huge.

"Criminally Negligent Officiating"--Tommy Heinsohn
I agree with all this BUT
if what we do now is sign Baby and but then also grab Powe in January, and if we also resign Marbury or another true point who can play(take your pick) then there really is no need to do anything else at all if you work through the combos and minutes.
Imagine taking the team that was 27-2 to start last year and adding Rasheed and Marbury to it. That is what we have done.
If the money math works to also add Hill, I’d certainly do that knowing that we are now talking DEEP insurance.
Perk, Baby
KG, Powe
PP, Rasheed, Hill
Ray, House
Rondo, Marbury
its close to a ridiculous 11 man deep roster.
Bottom line for me is its an unneeded error to not sign Baby, not sign Powe, not sign Marbury(or the like) and not use the other exception to get Hill(or the like)
I think we should stop talking about Hill
since we have essentially no chance of getting him.
Re: I agree with all this BUT
Rasheed isn’t backing up Pierce at the 3…. He’ll be backing up KG and Perk.
If we are able to keep Baby and sign Hill…. then I think our depth will be stellar – infinitely better than this year
One Down, Two To Go
Now we need a backup wing who can defend and a backup point guard. My preference would be for younger players who can grow into starting roles, but I’ll take decent veterans (other than that stiff Marbury).
Having watched the last three Summer league games, there is no one on the summer league team who appears worthy of a roster spot at this point— no one. There is no help there, either now or over the long term. Except for Bryan Mullins, there isn’t anyone who can stay in front of his man on defense on a consistent basis. It’s pathetic.
You might be right about what’s going on in the summer league, but I’m holding out a tiny sliver of hope that there’s more there than meets the eye.
In over twenty years of watching various summer leagues, I feel like I’ve rarely seen anything other than this guy can really jump, that one can really shoot, and this other one is really fast. But even then, it was hard to know which ones were really players. Everything else just blended into an unrecognizable mess of uncoordinated and uncontrolled thrashing about. Many times I’ve been surprised to find out later there actually was some focused, disciplined athlete in there that I hardly noticed.
I agree
That is an awesome pic
Standing up for the little People
