well it is going to come down to whether it not
grant really wants a chance at winning a title or if he just wants to play out the string with a bad knicks team

I'm not even sure he's batting .500...
Do the rumors of BBD being pursued by San Antonio and Orlando count as one or two separate rumors?

Is this his "gut" again?
I still think Hill goes to NY – they’re offering him a lot more than we can right now. If not, he goes back to Phoenix.

Oh, come on...
How can you criticize Danny when you have no idea if we had enough money to sign him? Wouldn’t you agree that Rasheed + Grant Hill is worth more than Parker, for instance? It may very well be that we couldn’t sign him with our available money.

I don't like Hill's injury history
we need someone who can consistently relieve Paul. Yes, Hill played all of last season, but he’s 37 & has been in the league for years and that’s the first time he’s been able to stay healthy for an entire season – that makes me nervous.
We can’t have PP averaging 40 mins per game going into the playoffs again this season, it just won’t work.

That's understandable...
But if Parker signed for, say, $3.5 million, what would you have had Danny do? Pass on Rasheed for Parker?
Also, even though I like Parker okay, he’s 34 years old and has been in decline for two seasons, especially on the defensive end.

No, I’m thinking of this independently from the deal with Wallace. It just seems like there was never any real interest in talking with Parker or anyone else really.
I just get concerned when Danny gets tunnel vision with certain players – its great to have a target, but you should also have backup plans in place just incase. Its looking more & more like Hill may go to NY or Phoenix, and Parker never seemed to be in the picture and certainly isn’t now – what is the plan??

There were reports that the Celtics were interested in Parker . . .
… but there’s only so much money to go around. If Parker let it be known that he was looking for more than $2 million, there’s nothing more we could have offered him.

Tanguay's Menudo strikes again!
Menudo is a stew made from the lining of the cow’s stomach.
What the hey, though. It’s something to read.

I'd prefer getting the bench taken care of prior to the season, but...
if we don’t, and we only fill say, two of our three needs, our bargaining position (with our poo poo platter of expirings) will look a lot better nearing the deadline to teams looking to shed extra years of salary, especially given that the luxury tax threshold is likely to go down further next year.
So, hopefully the three slots will be filled soon, but if not, we can land quality later too, via trade.

Here is his latest “tweet”:
Gary_TanguayA league source tells me that Grant Hill is now considering his options. Those options are Boston, NY and possibly Phoenix.

without Hill
the FA pickens are pretty slim with our crappy LLE and vet minimum left to offer. Hill is by far the best bang for the buck and the best fit. Cross your fingers, I think you NEED Hill and BBD to bring home #18.
Eddie was good enough against LA as a backup pg, less we forget.
Another PG with the vet minimom all the better… but give me Hill and BBD and we can get it done.

Giddens is stepping up in summer league… he’s a good backup option for the 2/3 if Hill falls through. We can’t forget what we already have.

Summer league if far different then the actual NBA
but what I’ve seen of Giddens is definitely promising – but I don’t think he’ll be making major contributions this year.

He's looking like a better prospect than Walker to me.
Just more of an all-around game. Kind of reminds me of a Darryl Walker (Knicks of the 80s) in a way.
He’s got potential, but I want a more finished product for this season.

Giddens seems to play good defense, rebound, and make a few shots but it seems like he needs to be a bit of a better shooter if we are going to rely on him. I would be very happy to see Giddens and/or Walker get 10+ minutes first have of the season even if we get Hill just to see what they have out of the 2 of them by the deadline. This will help because then they can use one as a trade chip along with TA and Scal if they need to fill a hole and it helps to keep Hill fresher because he wouldnt be under a playoff type load of minutes the entire season.

Just sign the paper Grant
Would much rather have him than Dahntay Jones, which is what we will end up with if we don’t get Hill.
by Tradetime on Jul 9, 2009 2:57 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
It says the Celtics were working on signing him last night because they want to get it down now and not wait any longer (several wings are taken, like Parker, Jones, Ross), plus introduce him with Wallace. I think if he doesn’t decide now, we’ll sign some other wing very soon (hoping for Bogans or Barnes).

Ross
Who signed Ross? I missed that one. Thought he would end up here. An aside , that player next to the login reminds me of Delonte.

Lets go Grant
Time for you to go out on top. You could’ve had a legendary career, but injuries have derailed that, this is the only way to solidify your legacy
And, I DO NOT WANT BBD here. Although Wallace does give us some length, we desperately need a PF that plays down low, not one that is undersized and doesn’t rebound.

Since Doc came out in the papers saying how many dinners he's had with Hill--
it’s likely that they think they’ve got a deal sewn up.

I got a chuckle outtta that
Thanks. : )
And I do hope Hill comes. He’s old, we know, but as far as what we need, that FA market’s shrinking by the minute.

In the Meantime...
Matt Barnes is still available and he’s a decent player and could relieve PP. He’s only 29, and Phoenix doesn’t seem to be too interested in re-signing him at the moment over Hill….
Hill is going to NY, they’re just offering him too much (in terms of $$ and years) and his wife wants to go there as well. I know we all like to believe that no player would choose NOT to come to Boston, but the longer DA waits, the less free agent talent we have to consider…

and Barnes made just under $1M last season
and I think he would consider the vet minimum for 2 or 3 yrs.
