"If I was gung ho about money I would sign back (with the Heat) right now," Wade said. "It's not really necessarily about that for me, it's putting myself in a position where I'm successful and can win. I've tasted the top, I've tasted that feeling of winning a championship. I think when you've tasted it you're a little more hungry than you are even when you haven't won a championship. That's what I'm trying to get back to.

kind of an obvious statement by Wade
he’s getting the max anywhere he goes, it is all about winning
…but of course I posted this for the inevitable “how do we get Wade?” posts
"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers" Henry V
he does get more from the heat though.
larger annual increases.
carpet
Dear Mr. Wade….how long would you like your red carpet to be?
Signed: just about everyone
I heard rumors about us trying to get Wade in the next summer
Is this even possible?

well
I think we’d have to dump rondo and perk for expirings, pierce would have to opt out, pigs fly
I think
the only way we can get him is by the trade deadline this year. Danny would have to roll the dice trading Ray’s expiring contract, Rondo, and probably more smaller pieces BBD, draft picks, ect. It is worth it? Very tempting to do something like that if we could sign him to an extension during the trade similar to what we did with KG.
Summer of 2010 the NBA Changes, Celtics Win or Loose?
Jeff’s states the obvious Wade receives all the money.
Of course Wade wants to play with KG and Pierce, Wallace, Perk, Rondo. But is it really realistic that the Celtics simply swap out Ray Allen’s $19,766,860 million dollar contract and fill Wade in his place. Don’t we all wish it was that simple?
Ok so the numbers
in 2010/2011 we have 7 players signed for a total of $54,326, 049
Paul Pierce $21,513,521 Last year Contract
KG $18,800,000
Rasheed $6,322,320
Kendrick $4,390,208 Last year Contract
Glen Davis $3,300,000
Rajon Rondo $3,780,214 Qualifying offer
JR Giddens $1,100,640 Team Option
Bill Walker $854,389 Team Option
Keep in mind that the salary cap last year (2008-09 season) was $58.68 million and today we all know with the economy it’s down to $57.7 million 2009-10.
Now Luckily or Not depending on if there is a strike The New Collective Bargaining Agreement from 2005 will expire following the 2010-11 season. The League even has the option to extend it through the 2011-12 season if they wish.
While the soft cap allows the Celtics to exceed the salary cap, but there are consequences. In order to bring Wade in the Celtics will have to pay the luxury tax payment of one dollar to the League for each dollar by which their payroll exceeds the tax level.
So since the Celtics only have 7 players and Wade would be at least 20 million that means the Celtics will have 8 players at $74,326, 049 and that means that will be paying Close to what they are paying now for 13 players at $82 million. So maybe the owners will go for it. What do you Bloggers think.
With all this said I think it’s the best to just witness this year like as though it was 1986 and enjoy it for all it’s splendor. the team for the most part has been together for three years and really knows each other well. The quality of Basketball will be worth recording becuase we may not see this again.
So sit back and enjoy 2009/2010. Healthy the Celtics will put on one hell of a show for this season. Your owners have shelled out 82 million dollars going nearly 25 million over the salary cap and paying the league that beloved luxury tax of $1 for every dollar over the cap; ouch 25 million over so they paid $50 million over the cap yikes. We are lucky! The question I have is this it for big spending? Is it imparative to the owners pocket books that the Celtics win it all in order for the owners too continue this spending or can they just finish in the Eastern Conferense Finals? If so it really becomes even more important to win this year than in the last two years.
If we don’t win it all, but our owners still offered a max contract to Wade we will be singing in the streets with confety happy days are here to stay! Only the owners can tell us this.
2010 is going to be Transcending year, not just for the Celtics, but for the NBA. Lebron, Anthony, and Wade all in there prime all ready to change three different cities within a year. Who wins? It reminds me of the city bids for the Olympics….Let the showcasing begin!
Not Anthony
He signed a long term deal with Denver, he won’t be going anywhere for anoth 3 seasons. I think you meant Bosh.

Pierce has the option of opting out of his contract. And he has said before he would do so with the purpose of renegotiating for less money if it meant bringing in another top player. So we might take that into consideration. Also, if Rondo has another year like this one, we will have to pay him at least twice if not triple his qualifying offer in order to keep him. So there’s that to keep in mind also. Personally, I don’t see us signing Wade. I think he’s going to the Nets or Bulls. I say we keep our options open of the KD craze.
and take $15M less?
Because that’s what it would take for the Celtics to sign Wade. Pierce might like Celtic Green and all, but everyone likes the other kind of green, and he’s not going to leave $15M on the table for the Celtics to sign Wade.
not necessarily
While he’d make less during the remaining year of his contract, it’d be part of an extension that would ultimately be paying him more money.

allstar-team?
Not in this life. If you re looking at our big 3, you recognize that all of them have lesser stats since they are playing together. If you would add Wade, the stats and playing time of K.G. and Pierce will sinks more and you must trade Ray Allen for him, to hold on a good chemistry between the stars… I would do this immediately, because Wade is the better of both, but I don’t want to see boring games where the Celts double up their opponents. If we would get Wade for Allen and maybe Giddens/Walker and some Picks, I would bet all my money that we’ll be the next champions! But that never happens – I think finally the Bulls will get him for all the picks they have for the next years and a couple of bench-players and that will boost their team up to our level. I would prefer that. Another BIG Bulls-Celtics Playoff round ^_°
I asked god and he said: L.A. will lose again next year!! ^_°
Wade is NOT close to being worth the effort/money needed to obtain him...
Celts would have to be insane to “break the bank” to acquire a 6`4" guard!
Now, if he was 7 inches taller, and had the comparable skills of a power forward/center…that would be a very different story.
Wow!
Then we could have a team of all forwards!!!! You don’t need guards to win… Just look at the Bulls from the 90s.
Um, in reality, Wade is definitely a top 10 player in this league.

The team that controls the "paint" wins EVERY time...
Those Chicago teams also had Pippen & Rodman as forwards.
At the end of the day, Wade is just a 6`4" inch guard…..who hasn`t won a thing since Shaq got really old bored, and eventully left town.
Controlling the paint...
You must joking that Rodman and Pippen controlled the paint? Pippen was a good player… Rodman was awful. The only reason he was getting boards is because teams had to triple-team that other fella that played for the Bulls… What was his name again? Anyway, once that guard retired, the Bulls stunk. Then he came back, and they were good again. Then he left, and they stunk.
Apparently, you are under the assumption that Rodman/Pippen is a better front court than Wallace/Perkins/Garnett.

Rodman was awful??????
Rodman led the NBA in Offensive rebounds……SIX TIMES!
Rodman led the NBA in Defensive rebounds…..THREE TIMES!
History X2
Its funny to me reading these coments. They sound just like the stuff that was said when people started talking about getting KG (I wish someone with more skill/time then me would bring up some of the stuff said at the very begining of the KG to boston idea) somehow Danny got that one to work who knows maybe lighting can hit twice…???
Here you go. The comments were mostly:
Garnett’s going to the Bulls (or Lakers).
He’s physically breaking down.
Jefferson shouldn’t be traded.
Except for Jefferson, the Celtics’s young guys are overrated and nearly worthless as trade assets.
Like most star black athletes, Garnett won’t come to Boston because of its racist image.
It might not be easy, but
What about we sign and trade Ray Allen and Perk to Miami for a signed and traded Wade?
This way we get Rondo/Wade/Pierce/KG/Wallace as starters,
Miami gets a replacement for Wade and a true center and still has enough to get Bosh and have a team of Perk, Bosh, Beasley, Allen and Chalmers
Wade gets to play with a contender
Ray gets a bigger pay day than he would have otherwise.
Boston rids itself of having to extend Perk and probably overpaying him.
It’s a longshot and would requiring a lot of work and convincing of people but, who knows, it could work!
I like it!
Do you have Danny and the Heat on speed dial?
