Around SBN: Randy Moss A Raven?

"Friday night, Dime’s Aron Phillips spoke to an unnamed source who works in the NBA and said that Allen Iverson has worked out the details of a contract with the Charlotte Bobcats, but the deal won’t be official until next week. "

Makes sense

Probably Larry Brown is the only coach that can stand AI now. Intriguing year for Charlotte with Chandler, Iverson, Wallace, Diaw, Bell… playoffs?

Interesting.

I knew it!

OK, not before AI tweeted the 3 teams where he could land, but still. :P

It will be interesting to watch the Bobcats this season : if Chandler is healthy and if Iverson fits in well, they will probably make the playoffs.

That’s two big “if” right there, but I think Larry Brown will be able to keep AI under “control”. The Bobcats desperately needed a scorer, now they have one, but they don’t want him to be “the man”.

I can't see this team in the playoffs.

30-33 wins tops. How can Iverson have the group together that he had last year and win 39 games and people see this group as being able to make the playoffs? I don’t see it.

Bigger question is what happens to Raymond Felton now? Is Charlotte going to re-sign him and have three midgets playing in their back court? Felton is a very good PG and to think he is probably available with no place to go really makes you wonder about this off season.

Good decision by Charlotte to let Raymond Felton go … should they go that route … their cap situation is atrocious and they shouldn’t be handing out anymore long term midlevel type contracts to mediocre players. They have to clean up their cap and rebuild.

I’d rather see the Bobcats tear apart their team … but if they’re going to go for it … then Iverson is a solid choice. They have a top 10 defense and a bottom five offense. Iverson can add some firepower to the team and help their push for one of those final playoff spots

But what does....

the subtraction of Okafor and the addition of a possibly hurt Chandler do to that top 10 defense? Chandler was constantly injured last year, never scored more than 20 points, missed almost 40 games and was never the rebounder or shot blocker that Okafor has been his entire career. Chandler two best years came while playing with the league’s best PG and passer.

Okafor was a constant double digit scorer breaking the 20 point barrier 10 times or more. He’s never rebounded less than 10 rebounds per year and has been one of the league’s better shot blockers since he entered the league. I think people are just not putting enough stock into what he meant for last year’s Charlotte team. Chandler is not a good replacement for him on that team.

I disagree — I think Tyson Chandler is the better defender + better rebounder vs Okafor.

Of course a hurt player is a hurt player, but if Chandler is healthy I do not expect Charlotte to take any steps back.

Like this move for both sides
AI got way too much blame for detroits problems last season

they traded the heart and soul of the team, and as much as we wouldnt want to admit because hes in green now, sheed quit, and rip also quit and they had a combo guard playing starting PG for his first full season starting, not to mention the miserable coach

AI to Bobcats...

An irrelevant player goes to an irrelevant team.

AI is a first ballot hall of famer, hardly irrelevant
