Where's Marquis?
Looking for Marquis Daniels in Boston has been like trying to find Waldo.
Except that instead of one little page, we're looking at the entire United States.
Daniels' name has been popping up in Boston depth charts for over a month,
but has yet to actually sign a contract with the Celtics. After having
a very respectable season with the Indiana Pacers (13.6 PPG, 4.6RPG)
Daniels had his team option declined for next season, and later
verbally commited to Boston. He's expected to spend a lot of time
at the two guard spots, as well as backing up Paul Pierce.
Only problem is, we're left scratching heads wondering if
this deal will ever become finalized. After attempting to
trade off Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine in a sign and trade,
talks stalled and there hasn't been much news since.
The bi-anual exception (roughly 1.9M) is expendable for the Celtics,
but it's the consensus that Daniels deserves a little more in his pocket
after last season.
Surely Marquis has broken some reason for longest verbal commitment
without an actual contract, and as long as he doesn't pull a
Hedo Turkoglu and back out of his agreement there's no way he won't
be here before training camp. He will have plenty of time to adapt
to his new role with the Celtics; and while we may never know what took
so long to actually sign his name on the dotted line, we can at least guess
and smile when Boston finally has bench production.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

WE ARE ALL CREATURES OF HABIT
Danny’s trying a cute move and being cheap again. Remember Posey…Powe!!! When the story is finally told in some form or fashion at the bottom of this there will be some petty cheap move by Danny.
I don't think he's being cheap...
He’s actually trying to pay Daniels more money, in part (presumably) to get him to agree to a slightly longer deal and to allow use to preserve the LLE, which we can spend on other players this season or next.

i agree
probably doesn’t want it to be seen in any way shape form like the deal for KG
whats holding it up is the pacers dont want anyone the celtics would be offering in a sign and trade, and cant find another team to get involved in a 3 way trade.
And if Marquis isnt getting the money he thought he was gonna be able to get, he might be having reservations about signing for considerably less money.
In Kobe we trust!
Tony Allen
He makes the whole thing for me. Very original, I like it.
Reporter: About a year ago I asked about the Celtics-Lakers thing and you said you'd really only seen it on TV. Now you've been through it, can you talk about playing the Boston Celtics for the NBA championship?
Kobe: It Sucks.
Love the TA-Larry interaction on the right
good stuff, toaster!
