NBA Fearsome Foursomes

Now that the Lakers have signed Lamar Odom to a long term contract you have to wonder if there is a team out there with enough talent to beat them. The Lakers have lost only Trevor Ariza from last years team while adding Ron Artest. While Artest is a head case the Lakers have the best psychologist/coach in the league in Phil Jackson. If Jackson could work with Dennis Rodman, he will certainly be able to work with Artest. So the Lakers can put a line-up on the floor that includes Kobe Bryant, Paul Gasol, Odom and Artest, a very talented bunch. If Jackson can get and keep them all on the same page they will be tough to beat.

In the Western Conference the toughest competition could come from the Spurs who added Richard Jefferson to their roster. If Manu Ginobli can come all the way back the Spurs will be able to go at the Lakers with a line-up that includes Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Jefferson and Ginobli.

Over in the East the Celtics have but together their version of a fearsome foursome with the signing of Rasheed Wallace. If the Celtics can get Kevin Garnett back from his injury they will have a line-up that includes Wallace, Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.

I know the season is a long way off, but I am looking forward to seeing these fearsome foursomes collide on the basketball court. It will be interesting to see which team, if any, can put aside their egos and play together to win a championship.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Fearsome Fivesome

Or have we forgotten about the point guard who put up 21.5/10/11.5 over a 7-game playoff series?

yeah seriously

While I love Sheed and think he’s a prime candidate for sixth man of the year, Rondo definitely has a better shot at the all-star team and is a more valuable player at this point.

And a what about Dallas with Kidd, Josh Howard, Jason terry, shawn marion, and dirk nowitzki? or Orlando with Vince, Jameer, Dwight, and Rashard?

Rondo doesnt get added because he has never been an all-star probably.

The fact that teams teams dont have to guard him late in games (orlando) probably has something to do with it . Or it could be the fact that Ainge is trying to trade him before he leaves next summer.

im not really that afraid of the spurs, i think the chance that they stay healthy is so slim, there time for a ring i think has passed, i dont see them gettin passed the lakers, the lakers starting line up is crazy, but past that they have sasha, and jordan farmar r the only real threats we have about five threats off the bench, that on any given night can put up twenty

We need to be afraid ot the Eastern Conference more than the Western...

Cleveland and Orlando have much deeper benches.

The Lakers have a horrendous bench and Ron Artest who just makes everybody else on his team worse.

Every team Artest has ever played on has gotten worse. The Rockets were stacked with talent last year and they underachieved, despite most people’s beliefs.

by Push on Aug 3, 2009 5:02 PM EDT reply actions

Ummm

They underachieved how? By blowing out the Lakers with both T-Mac and Yao injured and Artest as their most talented player. I agree Ron is a nut and I’m hoping that the combination of his craziness and the craziness of Los Angeles will be detrimental to the Lakers but Artest and the Rockets overachieved last year.

I do agree with you on some level though. In my opinion Orlando is the scariest team besides Boston, although LA and San come in after that, and Cleveland is 4th. I think Cleveland’s a bit overhyped though, Anthony Parker was the best pickup they had.

The rockets actually overachieved
and ron artest got where Tmac has never gotten them, the 2nd round, and they put up the biggest fght against LA, with no yao after game 2

by latin on Aug 3, 2009 7:46 PM EDT up reply actions

what you talking about willis?!

the rockets did a crazy job overacheiving last year, without yao and mcgrady they pushed the eventual champions to 7 games. Boy u crazy!

top 3 teams in east now the power has really shifted and the wizards, charlotte, and hawks will all be good teams

by celtics94 on Aug 4, 2009 2:51 AM EDT up reply actions

Charlotte!?!?!

Charlotte will probably end up in dead last this year. On paper, their team is absolutely horrendous.

by icee cold on Aug 4, 2009 8:25 AM EDT up reply actions

agreed lol. chandler will be injured the whoole season lol.

by robi s on Aug 4, 2009 5:43 PM EDT up reply actions

lol i think the west still has the power. the 8th place utah jazz had a better record than the 4th place hawks last year lol

I get somewhat annoyed by these “big 4” proclamations including sheed wallace

if there is indeed a big 4, its rondo, and not wallace who rounds it out…wallace hasnt played a single minute with this team yet

by latin on Aug 3, 2009 7:42 PM EDT reply actions

SERIOUSLY?

Rondo is a lot more valuable then Sheed ever will be.

by Lasky21 on Aug 3, 2009 8:05 PM EDT reply actions
