hey, anything is possible in a sign and trade. Cleveland re-signs LBJ at the Max (giving him the more money than just a straight free agency signing) and Boston trades PP, Rondo, and picks. Cleveland would be motivated to do it because they’d be losing him anyway. but is that the best sign and trade offer cleveland would get? unlikely.

Motivated?
There is no motivation to trade leBron James unless he walks into Danny Ferry’s office and says, “You have no shot at re-signing me. Trade me now!”

If it had to be a S+T
Lebron MIGHT be worth it for what we’d have to give up. I don’t exactly know if the Cavs would do this deal, though.

I’m in that minority with my fellow BuckeyeCelt. No way he’d be worth what we’d have to give up. Not an LBJ fan in the least. Plus, if PP doesn’t retire as a Celtic, I’ll be EXTREMELY disappointed.

Brooklyn’s still going to be “New Jersey” until 2011; is he going to sign to play for the Nets and know that he’s still a year away from being under the REAL bright lights?
It is interesting, though, since Jersey has more high-end talent at the important positions (PG, C) than the Knicks. I really can’t see him actually signing up to be a Net, but then again… I can’t really see him jumping to the vast wasteland that is the New York Knickerbockers. That’s a huge leap of faith he’ll have to take that they’ll be able to intelligently rebuild around him, because right now the Knicks have a decided lack of players who really would be of any help. For all the flaws of his Cleveland supporting cast, you plop LBJ on this year’s Knicks team and they’re still not going much of anywhere.

Not Coming
He’s not coming here. What value is there for him coming here if 3/5 of what makes the C’s great is going away? As for a sign and trade, why would Cleveland do that? If anything, they’re probably better simply letting him walk and using the money to go after a FA.
I hope he does go elsewhere. Cleveland actually has done a half-decent job of putting talent around him. Likely anywhere he goes will have made such a mess of the team to accommodate signing him that they won’t be good for quite some time.
That’s a good thing.

Call me a homer, but
the idea of getting rid of Pierce and bringing in Lebron puts a sour taste in my mouth. I’ll take my chances on this team this year and next year and look forward to watching games against Lebron. I’m already sick of Lebron’s attitude and his ego will only get better.
Pierce should retire a Celtic, end of story.

what the???? this is pretty crazy. i hope this dosen’t pick up steam and become a distraction. LeBron is great, but he’s the enemy! We don’t want to sign him, we want to beat him!

Crazy is
saying Pierce is going to walk away from a player option on $21,513,521.00 and become free agent in that crowded market. He includes Piercey in his 10 superstars grouping … unless he’s doing it to take a pay cut with the team to resign at more years+less money…. maybe $15mil for 4 … I dunno I’m just talking, but as much as I love Pierce and think he’s matured quite a bit, I still don’t know if he’d do this.
