Who will the Celtics get or keep with there last roster spot.

The past day we know that Baby is going to stay, and the sign and trade for Daniels is dead, and he will take the 1.9 million. Which means Tony Allen is still the Celtics property. Looking back last off season. When we re-signed Tony I was okay with it.Today I think wow! We could have used that money else where. He was hardly around the 2nd half of the season, and he was not used in the playoffs much. With that said. We have one spot open. Some think will sign Lester Hudson, and we will sign Robert Swift to finish the 15 player team. I don't know how a 58th pick in the draft could help much over a Bill Walker or Giddens. We hear good things about him. We have seen in NBA history a second round pick become a all-star. Gilbert Arenas, and even Cavs great Mark Price was a second rounder. They let go Pruitt to free up a roster spot for a point guard to sign. I don't think the Celtics want to stay to there pattern the past two years.Getting Cassell in 2008,and getting Marbury in 2009.During the middle part of the year. I think they want to start the season with a roster that is built to win it all. The odds of Tony Allen being traded are slim now. He will be stuck with us for the 09-10 season.Which I don't care if hes the 12th or 15th man on the team. They will sign a point guard, and the Marbury idea I think is 100% dead.I would be shocked to see him back. Even if we have Eddie House to play point. We still need a third point guard. We are loaded with forwards and guards/forwards. We have 6 shooting guards and small forwards. Then 6 centers and power forwards. Then the lonely Point guard Rajon Rondo.Eddie House is listed as a shooting guard if you take it as that. Then we have 7 shooting/small forwards.

We need to sign a point guard.

The list of Point Guards in free agency still not signed,

The Older guys who played minutes and games.

1.Anthony Carter age 33. 2. Bobby Jackson age 36. 3.Anthony Johnson age 34.

The  three older point guards above.Had good numbers, and played over 70 games last season. Bobby averaged 7.2 a game. Carter and Johnson averaged 5.3,and all of them averaged over 2 assists per game.

The older guys who played a limited role, and what do they have to give?

1.Ty Lue age 32. 2.Jacque Vaughn age 34 3.Juan Dixon age 31. The three guys didn't play much at all last year.Johnson played over Lue all season long.Juan dixon played the most, and was the only player to start.

The younger guys that have showed some talent, but don't know what they can contribute to.

1.Will Bynum age 26. 2.Luther Head age 26. 3.Royal Ivey age 27. 4. Travis Diener age 27.

WIll showed the most improvement from the list of guys above. Luther Head didn't play a whole lot last year, but played big minutes a few years back. Royal Ivey declined a little last season from what he was progressing to become. Travis played 55 games and 13.1 minutes per game, and put up 3.7PPG 2.2APG.

There are other points out there, but more than likely out of our price range. Von Waffer I like alot, but maybe more like a Eddie House style of player. I would still take Marbury over any of the ten guys above.I read a report with the Baby news that the Celtics don't want him back now. Out of the Young guys I take Will Bynum, and out of the older guys Anthony Carter I would take, and Juan Dixon out of the second list of point guards.

We don't know if the CELTICS will sign Bowen either. If that happens then Eddie will for sure be the back up point, and count on Daniels helping there to.

What point guard would you want?

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

will bynum is probably the best player on that list, and he is still young, hes a good slasher, and shooter, and he is one of the more physical point guards in the league, he could get guys like chris paul, deron williams type players in some foul trouble

If the Celts don’t decide to gamble with Hudson, although he played well in the Summer League, I feel the two best options are either Juan Dixon or Bynum.

well it definately has to be a pg. I dont think those old guys can still play. I didnt even know bobby jackson was still in the league.

I stil think Marbury is the best possible backup, while he clearly wasnt as good as he used to be, he definately wasnt a bad player.

Yeah I would take Marbury, but Bymun would be my second choice with out a doubt.

House is a catch and shoot junp shooter not a point guard. Doc would not play Pruitt and asked House to play there out of necessity. From what I saw in Summer League ball Hudson did not play bad, and there was a rookie that broke the 3 point shooting record that has been invited to camp. Cannot remember his name but the guy went to Tennessee an played great his junior year. They say he would have been a first round draft choice but his senior year he cought cancer. His production fell off and he was not drafted and he played in europe for a year. He’s healthy now and shoots 3’s as good as House. It really would not suprised to see House traded…this kid can shoot 3’s..2’s

It would not suprise me if the guy from Tennesse and Hudson made the team and House was traded.

Really House traded?

The two young guys sound great, and I know what your saying. I don’t see them trading House though. House is a proven guy.Unless in camp they out play him in some way. House won’t get traded I think.

House was used at point out of necessity

He played better when we got Marbury.Eddie and Marbury had a connection. Eddie could run around and be free.

That Tennessee player is Chris Lofton, a former Kentucky Mr. Basketball and star for UT. He set several school records for 3-pt shooting, but after his bout with cancer (he’s clean now) decided to play overseas in Turkey. I watched the guy play and he can definitely shoot. He’s a good combo guard and wouldn’t be bad to consider. I’m not sure how well he did in the summer league, but I wouldn’t mind having him or Hudson as a young backup pg. If only we didn’t have dead weight in TA and Scal could we sign him.

we could sign him regardless of TA or Scal but then threr would be no huson

Where did you get this list of players from?

Anthony Johnson, Will Bynum, and Travis Diener are on teams, not free agents.

i say we be patient.

now that we will have a few expiring contracts with scabs and ta and such, those will be more valuable once we near the trade deadline. I’m sure there are some teams with no post-season hope that would trade a decent pg for some expiring contracts.

Got that right

There is a chance of that.I see that happening more then a trade of any of the two guys by the start of the season.

Some of these guys are gone

Von Wafer signed with a team in Spain

Royal Ivey signed with the 76ers

Carter is going to stay in Denver.

I like Bobby Jackson the most out of this lot.

well the best player at the point available is iverson by far, hes arguably one of the best scorers in nba history. but there is no chance hes coming to boston n with his attitude he wuldnt fit in, plus he wuld nevr take anything less than the MLE. the best player we have a chance at is bynum still very unlikley i dont see anything getting done the sign n trade seems to be out the window. royal ivey is a good player as is von wafer but both r gone thats too bad.

it looks like its either marbury or hudson. i rather have hudson hes a more talented gabe pruitt in my opinion, he has alot of experience hes a rookie veteran. in my opinion i think the small school he went to hurt his chances of bein drafted in the first round. but danny does a good job of makin our second round draft pick sumthing to talk about most teams dont really consider a second round pick to make the team, i think he could be a starter in the nba
