D-Wade in Green?

Now that my dreams of having Allen Iverson in Green have been crushed I have to move onto a new binky. Late last night, Gary Tanguay from Comcast Sports New England and 98.5 The Sports Hub posted the following on his Twitter account:

"Hey, check out my blog at CSNNE.COM. Could Dwayne Wade ever become a Celtic?"

Gary's blog goes on to talk about how he thinks the Celts will make a play for Wade and Rondo may be the bait. So I ask you, would you deal Rondo for D-Wade? Discuss amongst yourselves.

Sorry straight up no

Wade is one my favorite players, still I would like a trade involving Chalmers too. Rondo for another point guard who has GREAT potential and plays great along side Wade. Count me in if we can trade Rondo and Ray Allen that would be a great trade.

Perkins
Garnett
Pierce
Wade
Chalmers

More championship titles here we come with that line-up!

The best way to see if a trade is fair is if both teams feel some pain. It would be tough to part with Rondo but to get a guy the caliber of DWade would be the perfect scenario. Next offseason will definitely be interesting.

YES

See ya Rondo!!!! Wade is a younger HOF-r, and Rondo is NOT.

I wouldnt

I wouldnt Trade rondo rondo is doing great with the celtic he is the only player that showed up everygame during last years play-offs and most of his games he ended wit a triple double plus he isnt at his peak so he is just going to get better and better the only reason i would choose wade is for his scoring every thing else i give to rondo assists, rebound, steals i give all 3 to rondo

by MAc Kit Kat on Sep 12, 2009 12:15 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

no, that was Chris Paul with 216 steals, or 2.77/game. D-Wade was second with 173 or 2.19/game. So you were close.

Rondo was fifth in the league with 149 or 1.86/game.

BTW, Mario Chalmers had the fourth most steals with 160. So the combo of Chalmers/Wade made for a lot of picked pockets.

I’m so glad Iverson is NOT here. That would have been, ewww, just gross.

But DWade, he has some serous skill. I don’t think we should trade Rondo for him though. I think franchise musical chairs is always scary.

I wouldn’t trade rondo for wade, but I wouldn’t mind trying iverson with the celts, now don’t everyone cuss me out on this, but I don’t think iverson would of tried all that bs with the celts like he did with other teams and gotten away with it.

by tenor1n2 on Sep 12, 2009 5:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

how could that possibly be scary its a sure thing

Is Tanguay talking about the Cs making a play for Wade this season? If that’s the case then of course I would decline unless we inked him to an extension – at least Rondo is restricted when he hits free agency after this season..

i dont think the heat would go for this ut i would much rather trade wade for ray allen than rondo

by celtics94 on Sep 11, 2009 2:24 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Unfortunately...

It takes two teams to make a trade. Funny how that works, isn’t it? I’d rather trade Tony Allen for LeBron James, but somehow I just dont see that getting done.

by funkstarrdeluxe on Sep 11, 2009 2:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

my point is rondo i think is much more valuable for us than allen and if that could get the deal done it would benefit us much more

by celtics94 on Sep 11, 2009 3:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

as cool as it would be to have Wade in green, it ain’t going to happen.

by KY Celts fan on Sep 11, 2009 4:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Wade

In green? It can happen. Just after the season. He can sign with us as a free agent

hahahaha!!

no way anyone in miami would make this trade…wade is a franchise player, rondo is not. wade gets superstar calls from the refs, rondo does not (when rondo falls, the refs look at him, shrug their shoulders, and say ‘get up’…when wade gets breathed on he gets an ‘and 1’ whistle). regardless, i don’t think wade would work out for boston even if they managed to swing a deal…because then he might be forced to pass the ball!

Never gonna happen

Pierce, Allen, Rondo, Garnett, and Perkins will be our starting 5 for at least another 2 years.

Rasheed and House will be locked into our bench for another 2 years too.

It’s nice to have those 7 players locked in for 2-3 years. :)

Big Fan of Wade but Not for Rondo

This is very simple. If it meant getting rid of Rondo the answer is no! Although Wade is surely one of the best in the league at scoring Rondo is one of the best in the league at making other players better. Point gaurds are one of the most underated positions in basketball when it is the most important. The point gaurd is the floor general and without a good point gaurd running the show you are doomed. Any other player on the team I say go for it. (Yes that includes Garnett if you had. Would not want to but would give him up over Rondo.) Rondo should be the only untouchable on this roster and that is only because the big 3 are getting older on the decline. I mean that in the best possible way but anybody who disagrees with that is ignorant. Face the facts, Garnett is a catalyst and that is hard to find but he is definitely the the player he was in Minnesota. He has a lot of mileage on those knees and I hope they hold up.

rondo and allen for wade and chambers

by celtics94 on Sep 14, 2009 10:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

no realistic question

Nice joke ^^ Wade is a way more expensive than Rondo and no Point guard. I love Wades play but not together with our big three… You have to trade Ray Allen and another guy for Wade to get him. Is it possible? Maybe.. (like celtics94 wrote). but not in this life believe me! We have a very good starting five! There is no need for D-Wade…

I asked god and he said: L.A. will lose again next year!! ^_°

This is a dream of a trade that would never happen. But if it did? Banner 18’s in the mail.

wade is obviously much better than rondo, and rondo probably never will be as good as wade, but the thing is its not about talent its about fit, and rondo fits in perfecty wade does not, wade is not a pg hes a sg. we dont need more scorers we have pierce allen garnett wallace marquis davis we need sum1 to distribute the ball rondo.

Depends

To some extent it depends on how much Rondo wants in the upcoming contract talks.

Wade wants to play for a contender. Rondo may want an altstarr size pay check. The Heat may have the money for Wade, but not the capability of championship caliber team. They even lost out in trying to get Odum. Wade may be willing to play for a reasonable amount of money if its with a contender.

In some respects Rondo may overvalue himself. If Wade will not sign with the Heat, and Rondo wants too much, then both teams may be willing. I assume the deal includes Ray Allen. I also assume that the reason Ainge has held off extending both players is to look around for a deal like this. An up and coming player + major expiring contract for an established great player who wants to move on. The Al Jefferson scenario.

The point

Championship teams are built around Great players. This team does not require a great point guard. We won the championship with Eddie playing the 4th quarters. And Rondo is not a great half court point guard. You loose Ray, but pick up a great player coming into his prime. You extend the years with a championship caliber team, and also extend the period where you can attract major league players.

by Bozo on Sep 18, 2009 7:57 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

rondo for wade

No. I believe we have what we need right now. Keep it simple! Roll with what we got- which is pretty darn good right now and tweak it later if need be.
