Celtics Co-Owner Pagliuca Plots Senate run
A Senator Celtic? Insert your own joke about influencing David Stern. Via the Globe (h/t Red's Army)
Stephen G. Pagliuca, a wealthy private equity investor and co-owner of the Boston Celtics, is putting together a campaign staff as he plots a potential race for the Democratic nomination to fill Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat, a contest for which he says he is prepared to draw heavily on his estimated $400 million fortune.
Pagliuca is assembling a lineup of policy experts, media advisers, and political organizers and is close to making a final decision to declare his candidacy, according to sources familiar with his deliberations. That announcement could come within the next few days.

Remember John Y. Brown?
Makes you think of him. With Brown we wanted him to run and win the Governership of Kentucky because he was a terrible owner. Don’t rembember if he won or not, but he did sell his share of the Celtics to Harry Mangurian who was a wonderful owner. Don’t forget Red almost quit and went to the Knicks because of John Y.
If Steve Pagliuca does this I hope he maintains his ownership role with the C’s if allowed. He’s been a great owner.

yea, Brown did win, and was a terrible gov. too, at least in my opinion.

A close second
Confucius say While politics may be second oldest profession, it bears a very close resemblance to the first.
Hmmm....
I wonder who Danny, Wyc, Scal, and the 29%ers will put up against him.
Ick
Pagliuca certainly seems like a corporate stiff to me: zero charisma, no public speaking skills and little passion. Wyc would appear to be the far more confident social operator and successful politician.
But if Pags has integrity, more power to him.
haha
From my interactions with Pags, he is socially awkward. You would never know he was worth as much as he is just by talking to him. This surprises me a ton.
It`s all about ego!
Being a Celtic owner is not enough…especially since Wyc has become the more familiar public face of Celtics` ownership.
Pags` ego demands that more people become familiar with his name!
He`s never held elective office, his political views are unknown to the public, and his awkwardness is apparent. Yet, he has plans to be elected to the US Senate within a matter of months? Go figure.
Anybody....ANYBODDDDY....but Joe Kennedy
Pagliuca has more business talent than any current Mass delegation member so why not. We need someone who knows raising one dollar and spending two can’t go on forever
