Does This Interview Change Your Opinion of Allen Iverson?
Eric Snow sat down with former Sixers teammate Allen Iverson to discuss a myriad of topics (interview can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUGuCedxo7I). Snow asks Iverson specifically if he would be willing to accept a reduced role with a championship contender in order to get a shot at a ring. Iverson responds by saying winning a championship is the only thing he has yet to accomplish in his storied career. He states that his main goal is winning and the Detroit situation has been over blow.
I am a diehard Boston Celtics fan, but have always admired A.I.'s game from a far. Most people know I have been touting Danny Ainge making a move to lock up Iverson for the upcoming season. A.I. will have a chance to rebuild his reputation and contribute to a team that has championship aspirations. I truly believe he is misunderstood. One day we will look back on Iverson's career and say there has never been a "little guy" that has accomplished what he has.
Danny is armed with one last roster spot. There are three veterans in the locker room that will bring out the best in this star crossed combo guard. If the choice is Memphis or Boston, where would you go? This could be the final piece that secures Banner 18 in its rightful home! The House that Red built! Danny be bold! You have made moves before that the general public disagreed with at the time! Bring the Answer home and bring us one step closer to Banner 18!
Where talkin bout Allen Iverson! Allen Iverson! Not some bit player, no some scub! Where talkin bout Allen Iverson!
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I just don't believe him
Actions speak louder than words, you know? If AI was willing to accept a lesser role off the bench, he’d either still be in Detroit, or he’d have signed with a contender for near the minimum.
Since the teams he’s been linked to (Charlotte, Memphis, LA Clippers, and Miami) are all teams without a realistic shot of winning, I think this is hogwash.

I might believe him...
Staying with Detroit would definitely not put a ring on his finger…. I think it is fair for him to want to leave. Charlie V and Ben Gordon aren’t going to make you a championship contender.

I respect your opinion but until he signs we cannot say “actions speak louder then words”. We know DA has been tied up trying to find a three team deal for Daniels. For all we know, DA told Iverson to sit tight until the Daniels deal was finalized. We will see. If he signs with a junk team my opinion will change and you know where you can find me!
Keep bringing the passion!

Oh i think AI is far superior to what he has accomplished lately. He can still show out. But he has to be on the right team.He is a unique talent.. If he is not the center piece it will not work
As for AI being a Celtic! For get about it. The man cannot not be controlled. Great talent strong willed. Anyone that thinks AI could be a fit here is a loon at worst or at best has no concept of basketball. That’s the key, not does he have the talent because he does.
Hope he catches on with Larry Brown

Well...
It doesn’t matter if he is telling the truth about being a role player.
He can’t succeed as a basketball player unless he’s the center of an offense anyway.

Woah,
Get him Danny!
This would be peerfecct!
STARTERS:
Rondo
Allen
Pierce
Garnett
Perkins
2ND TEAM:
Iverson
House
Daniels
Baby
Sheed
We would have the best 2nd team, we might even have it already. We could start Iverson when Rondo needs rest. Forget big 3 we would have BIG 10!

Iverson is..
without a doubt the anti-Russell. If there was ever a better example of a player that was more concerned about him and his and less concerned about the team concept and hence is the polar opposite of Bill Russell, the greatest team player in organized professional sports, I have never herd of him.
Iverson is completely full of it in that interview. He simply is starting to come to the realization that he is now considered a cancer around the league and stands little to no chance of ever getting on a contending team again.

Would it be reasonable to then assume he realizes he must be a model citizen if offered a one year contract to a contending team for just that year to refresh his image? What better team to do it than Boston, where Marbury had a chance to change the publics view of him until that Internet mess up..We are a legit contender in need of a backup PG.
On the flip side, I doubt that he will come to Boston..No rumors out about Boston being in talks with him
