Marbury Reaching Out To Danny?
For those of you who have not embraced Twitter as of yet, Stephon Marbury posted the following on his Twitter account this morning:
@StarburyMarbury
Danny what's up. Call me back.about 3 hours ago from UberTwitter
Does this mean Steph has come to the realization that his NBA career might be winding down if he does not convice the Celtics to bring him back ? Would you re-sign Steph even though he has had a tumultuous offseason?
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

What?
Are you serious? What took Marbury so freaking long?!
I’ll be playing “Welcome Back” by Mase if Marbury’s a Celtic for next season.
YES I WANT HIM BACK!

Sign Starbury now Danny!!
If Starbury wants to sign then the Celtics should sign him immediately.
The Celtics are built to win now and Marbury fits in just right as he is a point guard for now not the future (which Hudson would be).
He and House played very well together last year and made up one of the best backup guard duos in the NBA.
He also made House a much better player since he allowed House to concentrate on just shooting the ball instead of bringing the ball up the court.
Marbury last year brought the ball well under pressure, broke down defenses and dished the ball effectively last year.
His shooting was timid and off but with a training camp under his belt I think he would be just fine getting his stroke back.
Lets not forget though Starbury is older, he is still a very, very talented player and coming off the bench in limited minutes he would be a perfect weapon for the Celtics.
Heading into the playoffs searching for our 18th title, boy no offense to Hudson, but I sure would love to have the veteran leadership and talent that Starbury brings to the court.
I hope he signs soon.

Couldn’t he be talking about anybody named Danny? Haha how do we know its Ainge?

Hmm
“He and House played very well together last year and made up one of the best backup guard duos in the NBA.”
lol that was because of House not Marbury but yeah Marbury will be a lot better next year. He’s exactly worth veteran minumum for 16 minutes a game during regular season and 12 in the playoffs.

That’s not 100% true, it was a good duo becuase of Marbury’s willingness to pass. How come Pruitt/House didn’t have the same effectiveness?

I will say this
This hasn’t passed the small test yet that Jeff talks about when he checks possible rumors, has it?
I will say this; this Danny guy? If it was a normal guy, one would think Marbury would post “@histwittername” instead of just saying “Danny”. I mean, I don’t know if Mr. Ainge uses twitter, but if he does, Marbury possibly did Ainge a favor by not revealing his twitter account…unless it is already known.
Just an additional two cents. Rumors are still rumors, and this one probably hasn’t passed the small test yet by any means.

If he could just keep from totally losing it just one more season...
It would be good to see him back if he kept his mouth closed and head in the game. I was impressed by his energy on defense and his offense can only get better over last year. I don’t really care if he shoots much because he’ll have a few other people on the floor at all times that are great shooters. Eddie is better off the ball and I’d love to see if Marbury can get a thing going with Daniels slashing. Could be great. Just like last year, we could dump him if he freaks.

yeah he'd be great...
Smoking pot, eating vaseline and 24 hour live chatting from the Celtics bench… NO THANKS.

Marbury lovers = Celtic haters!
Marbury is even making Telfair look good in comparison!

Who cares about the offcourt stuff when Marbury can help us on the court
I do not mind all the crazy off court stuff Marbury does.
All I care about is how he can help us on the court this year if signed and help bring a title to Boston.
Why we are concerned about this off court stuff is puzzling??
Sign him Danny if you can.
Starbury can do all the off court innocent antics he wants as long as he help us get banner # 18.

when the offcourt antics are against league policy and would lead to suspension
then he won’t help us on the court… I’d much rather see Lester Hudson than Starbury this year.

With all due respect
Marbury’s a FA. I don’t know if that means much as far as league policy, but unless he’s getting arrested, I don’t think I care about what he’s done in the off-season if he shuts that all down if Boston were to sign him.

...is pot against league policy?
If it is legally prescribed to you? Starbury lives in LA, and said that it was legal, which leads me to believe he has a prescription.
You people have to understand how it is in CA… It’s not exactly difficult to get a prescription. It’s probably easier than getting antibiotics.

What makes you think he can help us on the court?
The off court issues are a big deal, but not as big of a deal as the fact that Starbury looked absolutely cooked last year. He performed terribly.

terribly?
i’d give him the benefit of the doubt here. he didn’t play for over a year. he didn’t have a training camp with the team. his statistical production left some to be desired, but i can probably name 25 back up point guards i wouldn’t rather have than steph.
God bless and good night!

let's here it
25 FA backup point guards better than Marbury.
Starting now?
In the history of the league, is there even 25 better backup point guards then Stephon Marbury should be?

I think BrickJames meant
He can name 25 backup PGs that are worse than Marbury.

No Way
Hey Stevenfuzz…….taking Marijuana for an illness is one thing.
What the heck is he suffering from? Schizophrenia? This guy has proven to me he belongs in a mental hospital not a basketball court.
If he was that good why didn’t the Euro League come running an offer this former $20M + player a contract?
Get real he is cancer and we don’t his type around especially our young players.
by BigT1942 on Sep 27, 2009 7:13 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He could have anxiety? That is a perfectly legal reason in LA… I just don’t think you get it. If you have ever been prescribed zanex or any pain killer, this is about the same level as Marijuana out here. Seriously. It is how it is, and it isn’t Boston. Well, even though it isn’t a criminal act in Mass anymore.
I’m not trying to say it’s the best influence, or that his actions are OK as a pro athlete nationally (for kids to watch, etc), but, I just find the difference in mindset amongst east coast/west coast is REALLY interesting.
Do you think people care that Lamar is stoned all the time in LA…. NO WAY, as long as he plays good! They care more about his cute little candy eating problem. Gasp.
Errrr puritan BS mind sets. Now I remember why I moved.

and
was he a cancer for the Celtics. I thought that he wasn’t in any way?
Plus, honestly I don’t really care if he plays for the Celtics, I just think that him smoking a J is a ridiculous way of judging him. Judge him based on his skills (tbd, because, he didn’t have any last year).
BTW I’m not a 15 year old of something. I am a professional, and I believe in freedom and rights, especially when it is something silly like weed.
