'Sheed's Impact is Already Felt

My morning ritual includes getting to work and perusing the headlines. This morning one story stuck out. Rasheed Wallace was in town yesterday spending time with the children of the Joseph Lee School in Dorchester (http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/articles/2009/09/23/celtics_wallace_is_making_his_way_in_the_community/). Camp is set to begin next week. This gesture impresses me. 'Sheed could be home resting up but instead he came to Boston to spend time with children and make an impact in their lives. I applaud him! He is off to a great  start in Green! Making an impact on the court is always great, but making an impact in a child's life is even better in my mind.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

the only folks who have trouble with 'Sheed

are NBA officials.

This guy is going to be a great teammate and Celtics fans are going to love him. He works hard and hates losing.

IMHO – by far the best of all the big off-season transactions. A perfect fit for this team.

Great player on off the court, but also on it

Its great to see Rasheed getting involved with the community in such a postive manner.

Its a great start.

I just can’t wait to see Rasheed on the court coming off the bench for the C’s this year.

It rekindles memories of the Bill Walton signing in the summer of 85 which led to his dominating 6th man role in the 85-86 championship year.

Walton was just awesome that year for the C’s and Rasheed has the chance to be just as good this year.

I just cant wait to see a Perk, Garnett Rasheed front line this year which can happen often since all the players are fast defensively, can chase players outside the low post and since Garnett and Rasheed both have outside shots that can spread the floor leaving Perk room inside to do his stuff.

Its going to be so fun I can hardly wait.

I've said it before, I'll say it again...

Rasheed Wallace – the return of Bill Walton!

i cant stand hearing people saying rasheed isnt gonna pan out the way we think it is. i think theres no way it doesnt work out hes obviously a talented player so i dont think him no being able to contribute is a concern. but people that think hes gonna be a distraction he wont have his head in the games are just looking for things to bash the celitcs on. he only gave up on a team that was untimately waving the white flag on the season. most stars would have packed it in after that. on a winning team rasheed has shown nothing but confidence, skill, and a imtimidating swagger to the court, its gonna be scary when those 5 meaning rondo, allen, pierce, KG, rasheed are on the floor together.

I have been a fan of basketball for fifty years. I have been an admirer of Sheed’s game since he was at North Carolina. Sheed’s talent level is hall of fame, but he is not interested in stats or money but he is interested in winning. So you see you can’t look at him the way you look at most players. He is just as talented as KG, as a matter of fact they are a mirror of each other. So now we have two KG’s. I also think Sheed plays a little better defense than KG.

People say a variety of things about Sheed and most of those things miss there mark. Joe Dumars brought in a offensive coach to couch a defensive team, traded Billlups brought in Allen Iverson and on top of that he tried to make (the incompetent) Stuckey be ready to lead the team into the future. The complaining about referee call’s and the tech’s are a valid concern. But Sheed has always been his team’s best player Of course this time we can overcome those tech’s.

We are in for defense that has not been seen around here for a long long long time. Every team that plays us will be reduced to a jump shooting team. No team can shoot jumpers for four quarters and win.

True that

I dunno if Rasheed’s a mirror image of KG. Their games are similar, there’s no doubt about that, and that’s what matters. I guess that’s what you mean?

Either way, I can’t wait to see how this team plays on defense.

not so much mirrors

because both have different strengths. But both are big men who can play offense both in the paint and out away from the basket, which allows the C’s to run the same offense with either at PF. Powe could only play in the post and Davis is more effective 8 feet out and they always ran a more limited offense with either of those guys than with KG. Both KG and ’Sheed can draw the defense out of the paint because of their long range shooting, which clears the lane for Pierce & Rondo.

Getting fidgety...can't wait!

Who is getting to the rim with that kind of help rotating over? It doesn’t get all that much easier for opponents when the second unit takes the floor. I can here slashers all over the league…no mas!…no mas! Long shots = long rebounds= transition up quick buckets…can you see Rondo breaking out to center court with KG and Paul running the floor and sheed and Ray trailing for the kickout three or delayed break. Can’t wait !

I cant wait either........

Wow imagine seeing Rasheed Perk and Garnett all out on the floor at the same time.

Its scary just thinking about it.

I feel sorry for the opposing teams.

Go Celtics!

he was a young guy in portland tho hes settled down since then getting technical fouls doesnt make you a head case it makes you passionate about the game
