Iverson Will Meet With Memphis
Stein: Allen Iverson has Monday meeting scheduled with the Memphis Grizz - ESPN
Allen Iverson has dropped his strongest hint yet that he will soon be joining the Memphis Grizzlies, announcing via his Twitter account Sunday night that he has a face-to-face meeting scheduled Monday with Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley and other club officials. "I want to help them develop a winner," Iverson wrote.
Reached later Sunday by ESPN.com, Heisley confirmed that the meeting will take place Monday in Atlanta, where Iverson has been working out in preparation for next season.
The Griz have no chance to give Iverson the Championship he says he wants, but they appear to be the only ones willing to shell out more than a minimum contract to get him. Plus he has a pretty good shot at starting.
Memphis gets a guy that might generate a little interest and ticket sales. Combining him with Zach Randolph should make for an interesting team. I'll just leave it at that.

Maybe this will at least get the ball rolling for some of the backup vets that still need to be signed. I believe you posted the other day that bit that said not much will happen with guys like Tyronn Lue until Ramon Sessions and Allen Iverson are taken care of.
I don’t really believe Iverson really wants a championship, or else who can easily attach himself to a contender.
who else HE</strong
I try to type to fast.

From superstardom to.........Memphis!
Welcome to mortality, AI. No one good wants you. That’s what it means. Personally I’ve always looked forward to an AI game against the C’s. You hustle, you shoot lights out, you are fast. A little too tatted for my taste but overall you were fun to watch. Now this? Maybe Memphis will take you!!! YOU CAN STILL PLAY. I’m sure you have plenty of money in the bank but that is one bad career management job. Either fire your agent or try listening to him.
ditto
I think he’d help us most if he is on the Laker’s, Cav’s, or Magic roster.

To bad Celtics did not sign him
IA would of been great coming off the Celtics bench, he would be able to play point and shooting guard.
If we could of gotten him for the veteran minimum contract the gamble would of been worth it.
Kg, Allen, Rasheed , Doc and Ainge would of made sure he would of behaved.
And if not we could of always waived him.
He is a great talent still.
I don't think he is willing to come off the bench.

You're kidding, right?
Rivers did such a great job of making sure Blount behaved, Banks, Ricky, Payton, etc etc etc….Those guys are eagle scouts compared to the NBA’s pre-eminent coach/team killer. Garnett’s overrated in that department.
Memphis seemed to be headed in the right direction….Then they brought in Randolph. Speaks for itself. Now they’re considering Iverson? Their goal must be to put people in seats in spite of going 10-72.

To be fair
It’s not Wallace doing this; it’s all Heisley. Wallace is simply the one answering the questions after the fallout.

Guys, the typos are hurting my face : (
Anyways, maybe AI will walk into this office and realize “No one’s willing to make me a starter, I better just swallow my pride”. Or, he’ll just sign with the Grizzlies and look silly being beaten by other teams’ much better 1st stringers. Oh well.

Well, when you get to Memphis Airport, rent a car, find interstate “I40 West” and start driving. You will soon cross the Mississippi river into the great state of Arkansas. Keep heading West and don’t stop (especially keep moving around Fort Smith, Arkansas (they don’t like “your kind” around there, and you might have to squeal like a pig if you stay too long.) If you hear Banjo’s playing near the woods you’re still in Robert Swift country.
When you smell cow manure mixed with the scent of oil you are in Oklahoma. Stop in and watch the OKC Thunder play (you can’t help them develop a winner either but you can watch for a bit).
After that buy some gas and just keep driving west. When you get to the desert find a rock to crawl under and stay there….you will soon hear a voice speak to you that says “You’re no longer The Answer – you’re The Problem”
Wear your new name with pride….hahahahahaha….but you will have to “Practice” often to get the name down perfect……you know practice…..that’s what we talking about…practice….Practice? Practice?
Is it Soup Yet?
If anything
This will be enjoyable to watch because they’re putting four of the biggest ball hogs in the league (Iverson, Mayo, Gay, Randolph) on the floor with an unassuming center (Gasol, Thabeet). As such, I look forward to them gunning towards a particular milestone — lowest number of assists recorded by a team in a season.

I believe AI wants to play for a championship.
But the guy is so arrogant, he is unwilling to play with any team where he is not the franchise player. he doesn’t want to be a guy like Ray/Pierce/Garnett who sacrifice their games and stats in order to win big. But he wants to play the role of Kobe, where he’s the star, he’s getting the ball, and it’s all about his rise to the top. He’s all about himself, no one else.
what's taking him so long?
he has to know the money being offered by now – perhaps he’s just trying to get other teams to get in the bidding
kinda sad actually – future Hall of Famer who can still play having to recruit teams to bid on him
oh well
