Look out NBA - Iverson now Grizzlier
Free-agent guard Allen Iverson informed the Grizzlies this morning that he will accept a one-year offer to bring his explosive scoring to FedExForum this season, according to an NBA source (that's a quote from the Memphis paper....they're a little excited)

Maybe one year of playing for (relatively) little money, in front of 5,000 fans, and losing two-thirds of the games he plays will finally change AI’s attitude towards coming off the bench on a contender. Already, I’d place him as an early contender for the “2009-2010 Mid-Season Buyout Award.”

Hmm
Memphis may break Dallas’s mark from a few years back for % of unassisted baskets.

Wallace does it again
We are worried about Pierce being 32 this year. He’s 6’7/235 and has never depended on speed. Iverson is 2 + years older and is tiny. Speed is everything to him and he’s always been considerably faster than the average point guard. What happens when he’s a little slower than average? He will be losing his edge very quickly, and he doesn’t have the mentality to deal with it. I doubt he’s NBA material in 2010/11.

It could work
We can joke about that franchise all day, but they can make it work. It all goes back to their coach. If their coach can manage all those egos, Memphis can make the playoffs. Its a big IF. They certainly have the talent on paper to make the playoffs.

Pointless move for Memphis
They’re going nowhere this year anyway. A guy like Iverson will, at best, take them from perhaps a top 5 pick to an 8th to 12th pick. Just what you don’t need when you’re rebuilding.

And I thought, according to CB user posts, that he was going to be a Celtics. Oh, darn. Tear.

So who shoots for this team? My guess? Whoever gets the ball first in the half court offense!!
Randolph? Mayo? Gay? AI? This team could possibly have the lowest assist per FGA ratio in the history of the NBA.
My choice in the official Celticsblog pool for the date when Iverson blows his stack and spouts off about not starting or getting enough shots is January 5th, 2010. Just saying.

haha as much as we all make fun of this, if and thats a big IF, their coach gets them to actually play some team ball, and defense they could potentially get into the 8th spot……HAHAHA jk there’s no chance unless phoenix, clippers, and houston ahve complete meltdowns..
if anything, this move is going tto stunt the younger guys growth.
In Kobe we trust!

It`s a new year...and the memory is not pleasant...
So, can someone please update the “home page” of this blog {mid-way down on the right side}…and remove the results of the Orlando-Celtic playoff series?

It's Not About Basketball
It’s about selling tickets.

Hope they sell a few.
Allen Iverson is to winning basketball what gangsta rap is to a wholesome message.
I wish one of our rivals would have signed him. Iverson diminishes any team he joins.

It makes sense
that they would sign The Answer considering the GM is the Big Question.

And Wallace Gets Paid for These Moves
He must have interned at Ford or GM.
