Celtics - going to need a Walker soon!
Gday,
The Celtics, are so overplayed and so close to retirement, they are going to need a walker soon just to get anywhere...a Bill Walker that is!
Well it is getting on in the season, only a few months left until the playoffs...and things are still pretty shakey for the Celtics...Daniels, KG and Sheed all out with injuries.
And this seems like it is going to continue. The secrecy surround KG's injury still looms and it appears as if he will be out for another 10 days. Wallace is also out for at least a week due to a foot injury. Pierce had a knee injury however he is back out there, but for how long. And who knows when Daniels will be back. It doesn't look good, and all that needs to happen to the team now is for Rondo, Allen or Perkins to go down with an injury, and the Celtics are not in a good spot at all.
This injury problem, coupled with the fact that most of the players are nearing retirement (I count 4 off the top of my head, 3 of the starters) and are playing maximum minutes - certainly suggests that things are going to get a lot worse before anything starts to get any better.
So what is the solution? I believe a trade is an almost certainty before the deadline. Ainge would have to be absolutely brain-dead if he didnt change 'something' up. And I believe any trade needs to revolve around at least getting rid of Scalabrine. Sure he had a good game against the Hawks the other night - but that happens once in a blue moon.
Then begs the questions as to why Doc is simply not giving more minutes to the younger players....It is the most opportune time to give them more minutes, as the starters are injured and overplayed, and also because it is at the point of the season which "doesn't matter"... Docs words.
One of the serious problems the Celtics are having is their poor offense. Sure we can score, usually off lucky threes. But all it takes is a poor jump shot percentage, and we lose. Just watch the games, it comes in dribs and drabs, most of the time a turnover occurs due to shot clock violations. We don't have the paint penetration. Pierce cant do much anymore, he is slow and tired. Sheed wants to be a hero and shoot threes all day, despite his dominating post skills. And Ray only gets anything in the clutch or when it doesn't matter. So what do they do? Bring in a scorer is my solution. This could be achieved through a trade or through, the better option, giving Bill Walker more minutes.
Doc is crazy by keeping him on the bench and I cannot remember the last game Walker even stepped on the court. Just watch the video on youtube I have linked below. It shows you what Walker can manage....PAINT PENETRATION - our 2nd biggest offensive problem. Oh and look, he also hustles for the offensive rebound - our FIRST offensive problem. We have enough shooters, we need someone that can score when the shot percentage is down. If he doesn't start to get more minutes, he will want to get traded, go to that that team and be an absolute superstar...just like the guy that killed us the other night, Joe Johnson.
Something needs to change as soon as possible. Who are they kidding, injuries will continue to present as a problem, and giving the starters so many minutes is most definitely fueling that problem. We have good youth and it needs to be allowed to flourish, otherwise the playoffs will come around and the starters will be playing 40+min games, and we will slowly wither away, and lose to Orlando, or even worse, almost lose to the 7th seeded Chicago in the first round...
Regards, Matthew Kenneday
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Hudson was cut
because he wasn’t doing anything here. He only got on the floor for the Grizzlies tonight for 3 minutes, and did nothing but commit one foul.
Not trying to judge him off of one game, but I don’t think Hudson being cut was the biggest mistake.
KG's injury seems to've become less secretive.
I know the team doesn’t have the best record over the last year as far as transparency is concerned, but according to Doc it’s all about conditioning right now. Which means KG will be out exercising and working with the team, which is actually a tangible change in the situation.

I agree 100% - PLAY WALKER !
I have been calling for Doc and Ainge to play Walker ever since he recovered from his injury.
Celtics are in dire need of a long, strong, athletic defender since we have been getting killed all year long by teams with long, strong, athletic offensive wing players.
Daniels is not strong enough to guard them.
Pierce at times is to slow to guard them.
Walker though is both strong and fast enough to guard those players and is the best man on our roster to do so..
Though he is not very long, he is 6’6’", very strong and athletic and is the perfect guy to defend all these long, strong, wing players that have given the C’s fits this year.
Would it not been great to throw Bill Walker on Joe Johson the other night, when he was destroying us?
Would it not be nice to play and develop Walker now so we can have him on the playoff roster so he can use his muscle, 6 fouls and play his physical defense on on Cleavland’S Lebron or Orlando’s Pietrius who we may probably face?
Of course it would of be, but why the kid is not getting some playing time to develop and get a chance to guard these players is a big mystery.
We need Walkers skills, not next month or next year but now, since the C’s need as much athletic players they can get on the floor and especially now with all the injuries we have.
Walker is brings his young legs and alot of energy to the court, which is what the C’s need more of.
He is also very tenacious on defense, has a nice power game to the hoop offensively and if he ever develops a jumper he will be a effective player to have on the court.
Is he raw, does he make mistakes maybe, but all that can be remedied by giving the kid playing time and a chance to develop some on court experience.
Since Walker was drafted he has never had a hard look on the court so he can show us what he has, their is no better time then now for him to do so.
I hope Doc and Ainge gives the kid a shot for once so he can get a opportunity to show us what he has.
Walker has paid his dues riding the bench 1- 1/2 seasons an deserves at least a chance.
Alot said but well said fordescort !
You expressed all the feelings I have about Walker.
I agree the Celtics could use a wing player to defend the big athletic ones since TA is to small, Daniels is to thin and Pierce is slow a foot at times.
The good news is that wing defender we need is on our roster and just needs to get some playing time !
