Glen Davis Needs Your Help
Prior to Monday night's game against the L.A. Clippers, Glen Davis sat down at his locker and talked to reporters about his recent, um, "situation". During that time, he said,
I think I'm going to change my name to something different. I'm not a big baby anymore. Somebody get a blog going like what name should Big Baby have now?
Done and done.
While he went with "Uno Uno" at one reporter's suggestion, there are certainly more options out there.
So fans, what should Glen Davis' new nickname be? Leave your suggestions in the comments section. We'll take the top 5-10 suggestions and tell them to Davis at the next home game on Sunday against the Lakers. The nickname he likes best out of the group will be posted on the blog and the winner will receive two free tickets to an upcoming Celtics game.

I think he likes it.
It is us and the media who have been complaining about calling him Big Baby, thus the search for a nickname change.
Correction. I haven't complaint about his nickname, because I like it.
But many others have been complaining about it, even Doc.
Pretty cool.
Better than all the other ridiculing names.
I was just about to suggest that
go figure

how about The Big Apologetic?
or “”http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2008/05/20/for_celtic_glen_davis_its_all_in_the_hands/" >The Big Dainty?"
but as a serious vote, how bout “Deadpan Davis” in a reference to his decision not to wear his emotions on his sleeve all the time

Has he actually earned a nickname?
If anything he’s still the “ticket stub” to the “big ticket” (KG). Other than that, I don’t think he has done anything to earn a nickname.
How about.....
Glen “Thunda” Davis

Big Baby
I think he should keep the nick. And why not? Babe Ruth` nickname didn´t stop him, either.
Maybe he should listen to more Johnny Cash?
Like Big Baby
Glen said he likes the nickname; it was his at L.S.U. That’s how we know him and I say keep it.
See my fanpost for details, but......
Imagine this as if you are listening to Reddy Foxx deliver this line:
“No Uno Uno, you GoneO GoneO”
Nickname
Big Once!
That is pronounced (Ohn-say) not (Wunse).
Uno Uno doesn’t flow nicely. So why not just use the actual word for 11 which is once… and keep big, because let’s not kid ourselves, he’s still big.
bad idea
changing his nickname is terrible idea. he has a great nickname. nicknames should be organic. here’s my theory: big baby actually becomes an asset when he starts acting like a big man on a consistent basis. because then he’s anything but a big baby, and then the nickname is ironic, and that’s brilliant.
i say keep the nickname, glen, and let your actions change your reputation and then it won’t matter what anyone calls you.
"Macrosomia"
My suggestion for a new nickname is “Macrosomia”, which Wikipedia defines as “weight [that] is above a defined limit at any gestational age”.
In other words, a “big baby” … get it?
…
…
…
…
crickets chirping
Hello? Is this thing on?
My Top 5
“Big Grin” Glen

“I Punch Friends” Glen (I am guessing he won’t go for that nor will you submit that one)

“Stay Slim” Glen

“Wavy Gravy” Davis

“Big Toddler” Davis (I wear Pink Pamper Pull-ups Now!)

or
POHawk Davis……

Is it Soup Yet?
"The Wrestler"
- Reference to him bodyslamming Shaq at a Summer B-ball camp at age 15

Ever since I read that story, that’s what I think when I look at him.

THE TANK.......
I like the sound of it, “Glen, ‘The Tank’, Davis”, short and powerful…I think he’ll like it…
I'd stick with Big Baby but...
How about Gumbo? or Steamroller? How about Moto Moto?
the Round Clown of Rebound
hat tip to Sir Charles

Glen "Bubba" Davis or Glen "Chuckles" Davis
Tubby could be another nickname I can’t really think of anymore but if I do I post them up. :)

Senor Bloqueo
Bull Dozer
Iron Fist
Big D (Davis)
Closing Act
The Commander
how about
Glen “thank god Leon was injured so they had no choice but to resign me when I had no other offers” Davis
Bucephalus
Shaq is the big aristotle, and aristoltle’s only reconizable student was alexzander the great and thats just not a good nickname….
Bucephalus thats the name, it means ox head. It was the name of Alexzander the greats untameable horse… tell me that doesn’t fit for big baby.
How about Glen "Big Daddy" Davis?
Granted he may have to have a child before he has earned this, but if he wants to grow up, Big Daddy is the obvious step up. He acts like a spoiled teenage but the Big Teen is not what he is going for. Big Daddy Davis who has decided to act like a growned a$$ man ALL the time
He has to earn it
How about Glen "The Tank" Davis
He is a big, immovable mass that causes destruction everywhere he goes.
Few more
Mo-Hawk of the Rock
Ward of the Board
or, my favorite, Sumo
I also like bringing back “El Guapo”
Glen "FAT BOY" Davis
Done. Move on. We know he loves that one….
Glen "Ricky" Davis?
This game took a number of days off my life, but I didn't have anything scheduled.
Glen "Big Boned" Davis?
This game took a number of days off my life, but I didn't have anything scheduled.
Big Baby (Redux)
Big Bailout —> “look at that scoreboard deficit. time to bring in the big bailout. we can take that to the bank.”
Bomb Squad —> “other team doing damage? let’s bring in the bomb squad”
Big-N-Plenty —> “have you had enough yet?”
Big Brown Bag —> “he knows how to eat your lunch!”
Glen "Big Maybe" Davis?
I actually like this one. So much uncertainty to his behavior, emotions, health, level of play and length of time in the league.
Too insulting to be taken seriously, but clever.
This game took a number of days off my life, but I didn't have anything scheduled.
BIG BABY
How about Glen " Stop trying to distract us with the crap and play the game" Davis.
How about...
Boss Hog
Kingpin
g dawg
Doughnut
Rocky
Big Boy
Bambino
Someone else mentioned “the Tank”. I kinda liked that.
Glen
“Big Dig” Davis, he’s definitely adding a lot more green to Boston
FULL METAL JACKET
sometimes he looks like the character from full metal jacket who they call pile…you know the one who stashes the doughnuts underneath his bed and gets his platoon into trouble??
any creative types out there can run with this…
Glen “Big Daddy” Davis – since he no longer wants to be the baby.
Glen “Big Boy” Davis
Glen “Big Babysitter” Davis
Glen “Big Dog” Davis
Glen “Danger” Davis
Glen “Down Low” Davis
Glen “Dagger” Davis
Glen “Grownup” Davis
Glen “Growed-Up” Davis (as in, “my baby’s all growed up!”)
Glen “Big Banger” Davis
Tiny
Glen “Full Blown” Davis
The Big Bulldozer
Glen “Barn Burner” Davis
The Big Boondoggle
Glen “Big Barge” Davis – Because he carries a lot of weight… literally and, he would like, figuratively
Glen “Big Bundle” Davis – he’s a lot to handle
Glen “Big Bundle of Joy” Davis – sticking with the Baby theme, and he likes to have fun.
Glen “Big Bang” Davis – double meaning
Glen “I Go To Eleven” Davis – he wants it related to his number, this also references Spinal Tap in a relevant way. Also makes it seem like he can go above and beyond.
Glen “Domination” Davis
Devastation Nation
Glen “Big Punisher” Davis
Glen “Big Baller” Davis
Glen “Big 4” Davis
Glen “Eleventh Hour” Davis
Glen “Wide Load” Davis
big baby
I actually like “Big Baby”. However, Kung-Fu Panda sounds appropriate.

No "Big"
I think Davis may have realized that “Big Baby” was almost the same as “Fat Boy” (word for word correlation), and (correctly) wants to shed that whole image. Of course, the best way to do that is to LOSE WEIGHT…. which he may do now. But I digress….
Any name with “Big” in it may be too reminiscent of Big Baby. So, with that in mind, let’s keep it simple:
Glen “Banger” Davis.
But I agree with “afflatus”(interesting name… means “inspiration”, but could also be construed as “the absence of flatus”… which is sorta the same thing)… that Davis has not EARNED a nickname… which is usually reserved for special players, or players with some special characteristic. The only thing “special” about Davis at the moment is his size… which he specifically does not want incorporated into his name anymore.
ach -- here's another couple...
…
In homage to Glen’s loony antics:
The Glentertainer
Like a train packed full o’ BU kids:
The Green Line
Or, for a throwback:
Gentleman Glen Davis
ha! nice one, Celtsfansince55! Makes me think of:
The Hot Ticket
(that’s what my grandmother used to call friends who were funny)
I get that the goal is to get completely away form themes of size and age/behavior,
but as someone who spent a year and a half fruitlessly campaigning in this space for some alternative synonyms to “Big Baby,” I’d be remiss not to put them down one last time…
Infuriated Infant
Terrifying Toddler
Nasty Newborn
and my personal favorite (and given the events of this offseason, perhaps the most accurate)…
…Pugnacious Papoose.

Love the last one.
No chance that he’ll take it, but it is the best.

How about...
Glen Avis. Because when he’s on the floor, there’s no “D”.

By the power of Greyskull...
He-Man Davis
Fact: He-Man is the opposite of a baby.
Glen
If he wants to make a statement, that it is time to let go of the Big Baby, well he’s an adult and his name is Glen. Switching to some other cute nickname, (uno uno) just does not get the job done. Ya he is no longer a Baby, just a cute little kid who needs a nickname. Make a statement, and insist that people call you by your adult name.
The Pugnacious Papoose should win...
Little Big Man
Baby-Face Bengal
Back to the Roots!
The Beast of Bourbon (My favorite), Borbon Street Beast, Bayou Beast, Bayou Boulder, Bayou Brick, Cajun Creature, Captain Creole, Canal Street Creature, The Superdome
A revamp.
If you’re getting a new nickname and you want to follow Chad Ochocinco’s trend of using Spanish numericals, I think you should focus on just what makes Chad’s nickname so popular… And that is it’s flow.
Chad Ochocinco.
Rolls of the tongue, doesn’t it?
Glen Uno Uno.
Look… I’m Spanish and “Uno Uno” sounds too awkward, even for me.
Chad’s nickname has the repitition of sound, namely the “ch”. That’s what gives it it’s ring. That’s what you’re going to need.
A better choice for you is “Doble Uno”, which means “Double One” (you know, for 11) and is pronounced, “doe-bleh oo-no”.
Glen Doble Uno (Davis).
Now that rolls off the tongue.
