Rondo Will Be An All Star
Rumors are starting to leak out about who made the All Star game. At least one radio station (98.5) is reporting that Rondo made it (to the surprise of nobody). Also, via the Globe:
Star turn for Celtics’ Rondo? - The Boston Globe
The Eastern and Western reserves will be announced this evening, and Celtics coach Doc Rivers said he has gotten calls from a number of coaches who said they voted for Rondo. It would be his first All-Star appearance and the most significant indication that Rondo is garnering respect around the league.
I'm very excited about this. From watching him since he got drafted to now, I feel like a proud parent at graduation day. They grow up so fast!

man
You stole my “proud parent” line.
So happy for this guy. Glad to see he was one of those guys who got better after signing a contract extension!
MVP of this weekends games is Rondo.
Kid’s going to go off. Watch.
Nah, LeBron will make sure to take the most shots
I’m just glad he made it, he should be starting with how well he’s played.
Rondo MUST be an all-star!
I don’t see how he could not be one. I’m really excited to see him in the All-Star Game. The game isn’t really attractive to me usually, I watch it to see the Celtics playing in it but it will be really great to see Rondo in, I’m happy for him and proud of him in a way (I understand the feeling Jeff).
I don`t care if he is an allstar or not. I just want him to make jumpers and free throws in the playoffs…
becoming an all-star should help with those confidence problems...
so i would care a little bit
Happy for him...
…but he seems too number driven at times, and it hurts our offense. Maybe this will remedy that.
I think the ball sharing starts with Rondo…
What on Earth?
How do you figure he seems “too number driven”?

Perhaps he is referring to Rondo’s propensity to overpass? E.g. Rondo is at the hoop, literally everyone is flat on their feet on the ground while he is three or four feet from the rim and dumps it down to, say, Perk, who has a guy or two on him.
I don’t know if it is that he is fishing for assists so much as it is misreading the play (hey, nobody goes %100). Some plays I do think he is thinking about getting an assist rather than making the play at hand, but I don’t think it’s a big problem.
That's not really stat padding though which is what was insinuated.
Maybe he makes a bad decision here or there like every other player that’s ever played.

Exchange 2 points for 1 assist.
I think that’s one of the first time I’ve ever heard someone accused of padding stats at a detriment to their own scoring total.

Um. Yeah the Sharing the ball starts with rondo and hes nearly at 10 assists a game and averages twice as many as anyone else on the team. I believe he’s 3rd in the league in assists.
He always looks to get people involved before he looks for his own offense, and sometimes to a fault, and could easily average more PPG on a team with less talent.
Your comment makes no sense
Well deserved
congrats RR

I’ll actually watch the game this year for the first time since Pierce’s first appearance.
Watching Rondo being able to shine next to the caliber of players he’ll have on the court with him will be a constant highlight reel. I’m actually a tad excited about the game for the first time since Bird was in it.
All Star trips pay off in getting calls from the refs.
Rondo’s recognition is good all around.
'Need to send Perk & Sheed to it then!
Damn – is it too late for a massive write-in campaign?
First of many
4 Rajon Rondooooooooooooooooooooooooo do yer thing kidd
A proud parent...
…on graduation day! I like how he expressed that. Now I want him to tell us how he feels about Marcus Banks!
Banks
I’m proud of him for staying in the league this long collecting a paycheck

You can thank
Phoenix for falling in love with him; Marcus has one good game against them and they sign him as a free agent in 2006 to a five-year, $21.3 million contract. and then trade us Rondo. Life is Good!
I hope he's able to make the most of his minutes
Iverson’s status as a starter could mean he gets the brunt of the minutes as well as the floor time w/other starters like D12 and LeBron, but I’m looking forward to some highlight-reel alley-oops, a bunch of steals, maybe a dunk or two from Rondo himself… more importantly, this berth will finally give him a chance to showcase to casual viewers (and fans of the bad guys) what we celtics fans have been seeing all along, and hopefully it will dispel some of this “Rajon Rondo is overrated” nonsense.
Congrats, Little Brother, your spot is well-earned.

Should Have Been A Starter
Is anyone else not as perturbed by the fact that Rajon Rondo should be starting in this game over Allen Iverson? Rondo has been the best point guard in the Eastern Conference this season. Think of all the joy you all would have if he was being announced to the national audience right alongside Kevin Garnett…who ironically, probably shouldn’t be a starter either.

Lure another All-Star?
Perhaps the other all-stars will highly enjoy being on the receiving end of all those great assists. Maybe so much so that one would seek out a way to play with Rondo full time! (And I DON’T mean Iverson)
way to go rondo ..
next to garnett he is the most important celtic he is our future once the big 3 are gone there will be plenty more all star games for him way to go congrats ..
