Sick of Rasheed

Is it just me or are any of you sick of Rasheeds deal....I've never seen a guy miss SO many open threes in a season, the guy is a flat out momentum killer.  Between that,  the T's  and the horrible defensive plays he has been making of late I am really tired of this guy,   he is my Laurence Maroney  on this team,  as well as  Big 11 Davis.   If this team loses to the Lakers on Sunday  some heads better roll. I want more Eddie House  if we need a three point shooter.....if Eddie had taken that shot last night he would have at least hit rim!!!

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Agree, Less Sheed needed.

Sheed is really the anti-Celtic. PJ Brown would be his total opposite. It’s really too bad.

by cons on Jan 30, 2010 2:27 AM EST reply actions

Sheed played like utter crap against the Hawks...

but notice that he has never had any great games against the Hawks as a Celtic whatsoever. You can’t deny though that he played great against the Magic though, right? Full offense and defense. Why day and night?

The Magic game was on national television. Sheed plays well when it matters, on national television and the playoffs.

The Hawks game is on the second of a back to back, against a team on their first of a back to back. What kind of CRAP is this!? It must be because the NBA still doesn’t care about the Hawks enough to give Boston and them a marquee game free of back to back complications. Oh well. This time, this quirk of the schedule crapped on the Celtics’ chance of winning.

Anyways, Sheed plays well against Cleveland and Orlando. Not against the Hawks though. Why? I don’t really know. Maybe because of the heated emotions? Mabye. Perhaps Zaza teases him into a frothy furor? Mabye. Perhaps it’s simply because this was a back to back situation. Bingo. Sheed does not play well in that context.

Remedy: Playoffs are not back to backup matchups. Less fatigue. Problem solved

In addition, I honestly don’t think Sheed (and the Celtics) take the Hawks seriously. They should, but they don’t. But I mean honestly, who would you rather have the Celtics win against (barring the option of winning all three games) the Magic who they have beaten once, those dirty obnoxious hawks, or those effing pouting primadonna cream-puffs…the Lakers?

Of course, we all want the Laker win. Make no mistake…when it matters…and when the games do not end up being on the second day of back to backs (impossibility in the playoffs obviously) then the Hawks will be dispatched. Simple.

Then Sheed will play like it matters. Until then, only during games like the biggie on Sunday. mark my words, he will play well on sunday on national tv.

I will say it again Rasheed was and is the wrong pick up for the C’s
How Doc continues to play him is mind boggling to me.
Rasheed is doing whatever he wants to do at the cost of the team, he’s hoisting up 3’s like its no-one’s business when he should be playing closer to the basket and trying to get some offensive rebounds. Here is where Leon Powe is sorely missed, here again is where Sheldon Williams was helping the team earlier in the season ! That is where Rasheed is a liability ! He literally looks like he shouldn’t be on the floor !
Doc has to take some blame for Rasheed’s lack of effectiveness on the defensive and and on the offensive boards and box game. He makes the team disoriented and unbalanced, if Rasheed continues to play as he has for most of the season Boston will exit the playoffs very early. Rasheed looks as though he doesn’t have the energy that is required to play with this team and on defense he is a real liability ( looks old to me )
Honestly I would prefer to see Sheldon Williams get more play !

second the above.

by cons on Jan 30, 2010 8:41 AM EST reply actions

My question is...

Why was he out there for so much time and Perkins was out??? Perk only had 3 fouls so he wasnt really in foul trouble per-say for Perk.

Perkins is your starter, he should be in there at the end of the game, he has done a good job against Howard, and wasnt out there at the end of the Orlando game as well

Sheldon williams is a better rebounder, and just about as good as an offensive player as BBD, but he is hardly used because Doc must feel he isnt a defensive player…which is why Eddie house gets the short end of the stick. Doc needs to cut the carp with his biased opinions and play the players that deserve to play and help the team the most. I’ve felt all along, alot of last season included that he and a few players on the team had a tiff with Eddie, and it was obvious last night in his post game interview when asked about ’Sheeds poor play, he says “Its amazing Eddie can take 3 bad shots and noone says anything about it but ’Sheed takes a few and everyones up in arms” Well Doc, Eddie was brought here to shoot, and only shoot, so you dont expect anything other than shooting from him, and you have to give him slack when he hits ruts. Everyone is mad about sheed because he takes wide OPEN shots and misses, takes shots at bad times, hasnt been defending, and rebounding. All things he was brought here to do.

playoffs

suspending judgement until playoffs on Sheed.

by Snowball on Jan 30, 2010 9:59 AM EST reply actions

The point is

… to figure out now HOW to play in the playoffs. If lessons are not going to be learned now, then it really will be a quick exit then. Sheed must be controlled.

Rasheed

is not a perfect player and has his faults but keep in mind he was the best big man / center we could sign last summer.

Who else was available that was better then him??

He has negatives but I think is a net plus for this team

-He is our 3rd best and most talented big man on the roster behind Perk and Garnett (2nd best when Garnett is not healthy or not playing).

-He is the best big man off the bench since he is better than Baby, Williams and Scalabrine.

-He is our 2nd best low post scorer behind Perk.

-He is our along with Perk our best low post power defender due to his length and bulk (e.g. look how he shut down Howard the other night).

-He is our 3rd best outside shooting big man behind Garnett and Scal .

We are lucky to have Rasheed on our team since if he was not on it we would of been counting on Baby as our back up center and the way he has been playing this season that would of been a disaster.

We should not be worried about Rasheed since he has done a decent job this year coming off the bench?
We should be more worried about players like Baby and House who are under performing big time this year off the bench more so and first, before we even should be talking about Rasheed performance which again I think has been pretty good so far this year.

by fordescort on Jan 30, 2010 11:24 AM EST reply actions

But not last night

…last night, he was all negative. Nothing “net” about it. Your point is good, but Sheed must be controlled BEFORE we get to the playoffs, or this team really will sink fast.

by DRJ1 on Jan 30, 2010 5:43 PM EST up reply actions

so fordescort…… were you watching the same game as us last night ? The problem we are all having is the reliance of this team ON him, we are relying on him and he is missing wide open gimme shots, if you are in the nba, and you get a wide open shot with noone in sight, you should make it, no questions asked, especially if your MO is 3 pt shooting

by Nick Sannicandro on Jan 30, 2010 11:43 AM EST reply actions

He is our 3rd best

outside shooting big man behind Garnett and Scal.

If you want to say he takes to many outside shots I agree and that is another story.

But to say he is not a good shooter when he is our 3rd best big man shooter I think is unfair.

by fordescort on Jan 30, 2010 11:47 AM EST reply actions

Sheed's in a slump from the 3-pt line

He shot 35% from the 3-pt line last year, and is a career 34% from behind the arc. This year he’s shooting 30% from behind the arc. He’s missed many wide open shots from behind the arc.

Anyways, yes, this does mean he should post up more. I just hate it when someone says Rasheed’s a cancer just because he takes a shot from the 3 and misses.

by Tai on Jan 30, 2010 12:57 PM EST reply actions

Agree Tai

He needs to post up more as I think he is one of our best low post scorers.

by fordescort on Jan 30, 2010 1:34 PM EST up reply actions

The guy IS killing the team….thats the truth Tai….he is taking horrible 3’s and far too many, and when he takes 3s that are 4 feet behind the line, just hucks them up….its old it kills the momentum of the team to have a guy just huck up whatever comes to him why is it that this guy was god and crawford flew under our radar…whos having the better season between those two as far as helping his team?

by Nick Sannicandro on Jan 30, 2010 1:28 PM EST reply actions

Again ..we needed a back up big man /center last summer

before heading into the season and needed a back up for KG.

Rasheed was the best big man available.
Some may wish their was a better talented, younger big man the C’s could of signed…but what other big man / center was available last summer for the C’s to sign???

Legit talented big men do not grow on vines in the NBA and are hard to obtain.
Rasheed is not perfect but he was the best of the slim picking big man /centers that was available last summer.

Also I do not anybody thinks of Rasheed as God, he is a 35 year old back up center at the end of his career who was signed to give us some big man depth that we lacked last year at the center position since we had no back up centers on the club and i think he has done a decent job.

In regards to Crawford (I assume you are referring to the Hawks Jamal Crawford) he is a guard and was not what the C’s needed when we were seeking to sign Rasheed to fill in the gap we had at back up center.

by fordescort on Jan 30, 2010 1:45 PM EST up reply actions

keep sheed trade BBD

sheed must become a post player off the bench he would kill back up power fowards only shoot 3’s if wide open .. we realy need to make a trade for a legit center for the bench.. it also matters the play style we want for our bench i think our bench is more of a running style n sheed doesnt realy run the floor but doc or ainge will not trade sheed so expect BBD giddens sheldan to be gone possibly bill walker.. giddens is having surgery … i say trade bbd n giddens for randolph

by jaygunna3 on Jan 30, 2010 7:13 PM EST reply actions

Ditch Him

Who the hell is Sheed anyway? He’s a big guy who doesn’t box out. He’s too slow (or lazy) to guard other bigs in this league. He jacks up more 3’s per game than any other Celtic (4.9 per game in comparison to Ray Allen 4.8 and Pierce 4.0). He is robbing the good shooters on the team of their shots by chucking up poop and killing the offensive flow at the same time.
Okay, he has some incredible skills but the mind of a 15 year old. You have a grown ass man who plays like a streetballer. He takes up ill advised shots and yaps at the refs and anyone that will listen.
Jack up crap shots and act like a 5 year old in a pickup game Rasheed but this is the NBA, your supposed to be a professional. Know your abilities and act your age.
You may as well have Scal in his place. Scal doesn’t play good D or rebound either but is more accurate from 3 and keeps his mouth shut.
