If we can only imagine for a minute....
In the Summer of 07, if the ping pong ball had given us the 2nd or 1st pick in the draft. Here is what your team likely would have looked like
Regardless of getting the 1 or 2, the Celtics would have drafted Kevin Durant, as everyone was high on Oden at the time and the Celtics were the only top end of the draft team that said they would have taken Durant. Al Jefferson would have never been traded for KG , nor would Delonte West. Just a rough image of what we would have looked like
PF. Al Jefferson
SF/SG Kevin Durant
SF/SG Paul Pierce
PG- Rajon Rondo
Bench- BBD, Powe, House, Scal, Gomes , Gerald Green, and Telfair?
Look at that roster then and your mildly excited
Look at it today and you see 3? 4? Championships the least?
If only....
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

LOOKS GOOD ON PAPER
BUT WE WOULD HAVE NEVER WON A CHAMPIONSHIP. WE COULD HAVE A GOOD TEAM FOR THE FUTURE.

Nice post Nick..
Yea that line up sure looks great.
It could possibly be better then our current starting 5 come to think of it.
hindsight is 20-20 though, back in 08 we were sick of being young and imature and wanted the vets KG and Garnett to give us a shot at a banner.
They did just that in 08 when they gave us banner 17, so I at least have no complaints we went that direction.
But…I sure wish we could have that line up today, but I guess you can not get everything in this world.
Other than not winning Title 17...
…KP would not have become as good without KG’s influence. Rondo would also have developed more slowly. Paul Pierce may have wanted a trade. Al Jefferson and KP would have been a horrible defensive partnership. Bench is trash, honestly.
Remember not to make a direct comparison
since the ping-pong balls didn’t go our way. I definitely like that lineup, and I’d like to believe it would have happened if we picked #1 or #2. But, considering we picked #5, would you guys take a lineup of Rondo/Pierce/Green/Jefferson/Perkins over Rondo/Allen/Pierce/Garnett/Perkins?
BBD was acquired with the Ray Allen trade
So he’s not on the bench. And either West or Telfair would be starting in front of Rondo. Plus this team won a championship playing defense, which was brought on by the acquisition of KG. Neither Rondo nor Pierce were known for their defense before KG, and Durant still doesn’t play defense.
Posts like this piss me off. If you want to be a fan of the Celtics, than be a fan. If you want to live in a fantasy, go play WOW. This is a joke.
Really
A joke there KY Celts fan? How so? So I am not a fan for sitting through the 07 season till the very last buzzer of that pathetic season? Or any other of those depressing years during our drought? This post was made purely based on the fact at how if a friggin ping pong ball bounced the right way, this team would have been much younger, and we would have had a much different future than the uncertainty that lies ahead for THIS team. Go back to KY and your college hoops my friend
