Idea: Andre Miller to Celtics
Celtics get Andre Miller.
Portland gets Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine, and Bill Walker.
Deal works financially, but will Miller play backup to Rondo?
There has been a long feud between the management of the Trailblazers and Danny Ainge, so this may never happen.
Recently, Miller has had a tempestuous relationship with the Blazers' coaching staff. This might be an opportune moment for Danny to pull the trigger. Miller could be a very solid, experienced point guard in the Celtics' system.
The key to this deal is whether Miller can play "second fiddle" to Rondo's lead. It might be a very good career move for Miller, who has not had a great deal of post-season success.
Thoughts on this trade?
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Curious about feud with Portland management
I have never heard that before. Danny completed the LaFrentz, Telfair deal a few years ago. What are you basing this feud assertion on.
As to Miller, I could see them wanting to get out from his contract. I was trying to play with the trade machine thing, seeing if anything works for Miller or Blake (preferably Blake, who would likely accept his backup role more readily).
In fact, I’ve been scouring league rosters looking for a backup PG. Having Daniels out for a good ’nother month, makes it a little problematic trading TA right now, as clearly Doc does not regard JR or Walker as ready for minutes.
Wouldn’t mind getting Sergio Rodriguez from Sacto either, or Sessions from Minny.
Anyway, until ‘Quis comes back, I don’t know how we trade away TA without also bringing back a swing man. Ideally, a trade would net us a backup PG and a swing for our expirings.
NO
it aint gonna happen…. portland has enough wings.. they dont need another wing.. in allen and walker and a undersized 4 in scalabrine…. NO WAY THIS TRADE WILL EVER HAPPEN
Miller and Nate are Very Much on the Outs
And the trade benefit for the Blazers is the expiring contracts, not the players though Tony has value . Miller might want a ring enough, but PT’s an issue for him now. Don’t recall anything about a feud either.
Good...but not great. I'd rather have Krytonate.
Yeah, Miller would fit our need to find another talented player and our MOST PRESSING need of getting an ACTUAL point guard to back up Rondo, but I’d rather have Nate. I don’t like Nate Robinson, and I think Andre Miller being a veteran would certainly help, but I have got to face the facts and say that Andre’s game is too similar to Rondo’s (from the standpoint that Andre is a pass first point guard and not a particularly adept scorer), as compared to Nate who…well can come off the bench after not playing for 14 straight and score 41! Who says Dantoni wouldn’t like expiring contracts and a big man who doesn’t play defense and can shoot the 3-ball!? I think that’d work the best.
I would prefer an attempt to get Ramon Sessions
Supposedly, he’s on the block and Minny isn’t winning anything this yr and may want the expirings.
Don't Trade Rondo or Perk!
Miller wearing green
this would b great b/c we need a bak up point
Portland would not accept this.
"That's it?
Kinda mild- reminds me of that time my dog actually CAUGHT a squirrel.
After all those years of trying, kinda threw him. After while, he just let it go.
He looked sad, like he'd ruined something for himself."
Because he is proving to be such a good teammate
Giving mixed signals to young guys
arguing with the coach
hitching bout his role
not even that good
no thanks
I'm not one to comment on trade speculation, or ever, generally
I thought it should be known that since the unsuccessful 2002 olympic qualifying tourney Paul Pierce and Andre Miller have nothing but hatred for one another. They would simply refuse to co-exist. Furthermore, signing Andre Miller to play as back-up point guard would be a protraction of his current grievances in Portland, needless to say, there goes the Celtics’ team chemistry. I don’t think any major trades are necessary, they have all the right personnel, insofar that they remain healthy. The one move they could really benefit from at this point is signing a competent MLE point guard to spell Rondo’s prodigal number of minutes. The team doesn’t need to be eviscerated to accomplish this however. Once KG and Daniels are healthy and in regular rotation the Celtics will have the problem of too many decent players dividing up game time minutes, excepting the point guard position of course. Free agency is probably the best bet, or buying out a contract before the trade deadline. If KG’s knee is in good condition come playoff time, they’ll be competitive with their current roster, any major move could be ultimately disruptive.
