"They’re supposed to hate you," Miami forward Chris Bosh said after Sunday’s practice when asked what reception he expects the Heat to receive at TD Garden on Tuesday night. "You’re the opposing team. And, it’s Boston. They hate people a little bit more than usual cities."

What is that, "They hate people a bit more than usual cities" supposed to mean?
We’re just a more passionate city. We have four major sports in our city, and we are passionate with each of them… But if that’s how Bosh feels, then fine. He doesn’t know our city like that. Shoot. Can’t wait for the C’s to win… :)
But then with that, comes the excuses…
I can because I will.. Makes sense?
Fan validation
It only means we are doing our job! If an opposing team does not feel welcome, then we are fulfilling our role.

You're right. :)
Its no wonder why we were voted in the top 15 in all baseball, basketball, football, in forbes most faithful fans…
I can because I will.. Makes sense?
I think he is correct
The northeast US in general has a lot of angry fans who enjoy hating other teams. You can be passionate without having hating.

Bosh is not nearly good enough...
…to be worth all the effort that “true hating” requires!
Agreed.
Lebron and Wade, yep, definitely worth the hate.
Bosh I could care less about, but as a whole I hate his team. Except, Eddie, him I just pity.
It’s like seeing an ex-girlfriend a year later, when she’s dating some Dbag and her life is a mess. You don’t really hate her, you really could care less but you just pity her for what she’s become.
But I digress, as an individual, Bosh means nothing. He’s not that good, if KG is healthy this year, then even at his age he is ten times the PF Bosh is, offensively AND defensively.
I don't get the Bosh love
The guys has never been on a team that so much as won a playoff series. He is an undersized PF. He has skills. But the idea that he is one of the ten best players in the league is crazy.
Come Tuesday...
Bosh will be shut down. He has never really impressed me, and he impresses me less with KG on the floor. I can’t wait for this game! Could be one of the best season openers I’ve ever seen.
Needed sign for tommorow night
Hey LaBron, did you remember to pick up Dwayne’s laundry?
I hope
Bosh is not implying anything racial here.

Ya...
I had the same though when I first read the quote, but I decided to dismiss it just because I really don’t want to go down that road.
I don’t think he meant it in that context, but given the history of the city and the stereotype it has in the sports world, it’s definitely a loaded quote, regardless of intent.
Still, I do believe Bosh meant it in a fun kind of way. Just giving respect to the fan base in a “man those Boston fans sure stick it to opposing teams” kind of way.
I really don’t see why there should be any backlash. The Garden crowd boos really loud. No need to try to read between the lines and fabricate drama.

Bosh
Funny-He has gotten a big mouth now that he has Wade and LeBron to back him up.
What is so different about what he said about “toying with people’s emotions” when he
was unsigned, than Rudy Fernandez’s agent saying that he is home sick and does not
want to play in the NBA any more. Funny, that cost Rudy $75,000, where was the fine
for Bosh? The league will see that he is not what he “thinks” he is. This guy doesn’t know
what defense is. As far as Pierce’s dunk, Bosh was looking for that, he had been pushing
and clawing all day. Tough luck you jerk. Boston is too good a city to want you here.
They hate people a little bit more than usual cities."
Well, idiot….You’re a little more disingenuous and arrogant than usual players.
