Trade to address LENGTH and REBOUNDING
Big Baby + Quis + Wafer + draft picks or Bradley for :
1. Thaddeus Young and Nocioni PHI
2. Kevin Love and Corey Brewer MIN
* involving a 3rd team like HOU (Jeffries and Jordan Hill) could make this possible
Big Baby is awesome off the bench but his height and lack of rebounding really hurt the team more..
Seems philly doesn't want young because they didn't give him an extension, and nocioni has a huge contract..
I really liked Kevin Love way before he had that 30/30.. Corey Brewer is quite expendable for minny because they have too many wings..
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I doubt either team would make that trade
Also losing Glen Davis would hurt us more than you seem to think. He’s become the best in the league at drawing charges, he’s had a very productive season offensively and his defense is certainly better than Kevin Love’s or Thaddeus Young’s. He’s our sixth man and without him our bench would suffer. I wouldn’t overlook Marquis either, he’s looking much better so far this season.
As long as we’re winning games I’m not too worried about our rebounding numbers. Perk is still out and we’re weak at the center position due to injuries. Garnett is rebounding like he did in 2008, Pierce has stepped it up and Shaq has been grabbing a lot of boards for the minutes he’s playing.
In the long run,
It will benefit our team.. We really need athletic forwards and it was evident last night against the griz .. We’ll need to have people to run with rondo because that’s his game.. Just look at how horrible we are at fastbreaks.. I know these trade proposals may not even cross the mind of DA but I feel he’s gonna make some moves by Dec or January..
I agree that looking towards the future we do need to add athleticism
In particular I would love to see Josh Smith in a Celtics uniform, being paired with Rondo again at this level would be crazy on fastbreaks and he’s a great defender. Too bad there was no basis to the rumors that the Hawks were looking to move him.
I don’t understand why Danny drafted Avery Bradley and then signed Von Wafer over Stephan Lasme, we definitely need forwards over guards but hopefully that will be addressed in the draft next year. I do agree that acquiring athletic forwards is crucial to our success down the road, once the big 3 era is done it’ll be a waste of Rondo’s talent if we don’t.
I don’t think we’re bad on fastbreaks though, granted we don’t have the athleticism some teams do but we have players who can draw contact and finish and any team with Rondo running the break is going to be good.
Well, Lasme is still stashed in Maine.
So the Wafer move was probably more of a “lets see how it goes” experiment, because with West out they needed someone to spell minutes for Paul and Ray. The experiment failed, miserably, because Wafer just couldn’t get the job done, and Paul and Ray have played a LOT more minutes than Doc ever wanted them to already (3 OT games didn’t help that either obviously.)
But, I can understand why Danny did it. And I do not expect Wafer to last on this team much longer. Lasme also doesn’t solve any of the depth problems they have, he’s to undersized to play the 4 well against stronger/taller PFs. And he doesn’t have the quickness (yet at least) to run at the 3 well. He’s also a complete offensive liability, and can only score in put backs/ open dunks when Rondo creates space.
Good points
It just seems like even on the FA market there must have been a better option out there in terms of big men than signing Wafer. Maybe Danny wasn’t expecting the O’Neals to have injury problems like they have, but even so he knew Delonte would be back in 10 games and we have Avery so why not go after another big forward?
Regardless, Wafer has had his 10 games and shown nothing so I’m hoping Avery will be worked into the rotation now and Wafer completely eliminated. Even taking Lasme’s weaknesses into account it still seems to me that he’d be more beneficial to this team than yet another guard who’s not even playing.
I heard Jason Thompson's on the block...
so maybe Thompson and Garcia / Donte Greene / Antoine Wright?
I heard that too
Offer Semir Erden & Avery Bradley for Thompson.

No way minny will trade Love!!! they traded Big Al to give Love the team. And young is not the answer he will only be a temporary solution and we would have to give up too much.
I’d be okay with Thompson coming to boston though.
Wasn't kevin love complaining about his minutes?
Besides, that franchise doesn’t have any direction, anyway.. maybe if we add another guard to their collection (avery) maybe they’d cough up Love..
Love is a superstar in the making, Minny would never trade Love for Avery! it’s crazy!
Kevin Love was not happy coming off the bench, but now that Big Al is gone he is the starting PF. To get love we’d need at least 2 proven young(starters) and multiple picks.
The player I really want is in the 2011 draft, Donatas Motiejunas, the kid is a mix of Pau Gasol and Dirk. The kid has Star written all over.
I don't think we need to trade BBD
Our lineup is already strong! As long as we have a healthy BIG 4 and all of our BIG guys are healthy too we will be doing good to excellent :) Why do you guys wanna trade BBD??? BBD help us a lot he can shoot the perimeter and he is moving well, now without the ball.
I think as long as we are winning DA will not think of trading any one of our players.
BANNER 18 in 2011
i dont think trading ronald would be a good thing right now.. he knows the offense and deffense.. JO and shaq are still learning the system. harangody doesnt know it either. i hink a package of wafer and luke for a a big would work.. they could trade them for a 1st round pick to a team not interested in it.. it happens every year thats how phx traded away the 21st pick 4 years ago to the celtics.. (rondo) also how portland got fernandez.. etc.. with the two open spots they could bring up lasme and tiny gallon. then when jo, perk and shaq are healthy for playoff time they put both down in the d league. sign sheed. and have sheed, perk, shaq, kg, davis, erden.
Would not do this.
“To address length” ? We have 4 seven-footers on the roster, though not all healthy yet. Besides, length in itself is useless. Would you like to put 5 Manute Bols on the floor?
“To address rebounding”? Are you saying this is a problem that needs addressing? If so, then how is being the 2nd best rebounding team in the NBA (behind Orlando) a ‘problem’ ?
[The Celtics are #2 in Defensive Rebounding Percentage at an awesome 78%]
Don’t fix what isn’t broken.
Really?
That is what I am saying, We do not need to trade any of our guys! except for Wafer perhaps o.O

Trade Baloney
Your not trading major playoff experience for pie in the sky pieces at this point. Get healthy and this team is going to be tough; the only roster move I’d maybe make is unload Wafer and bring in Lasme, a multi positionable big who’d been though camp and would really strengthen the defensive options……
Trade Perk!!!
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2drlpjz
Perkins, Thompson and Harangody to Suns
Bradley and Clark to Kings
And LOPEZ, DUDLEY AND LAWAL TO CELTICS
:)
Trade Perk
Nobody wants Perk ….. If anything trade for Kaman, that’s what we need. And give Harangody some playing time he can sure shoot the 3’s.
i disagree- i think he is a great deffender, ask orlando about his D. he doesnt require plays to be ran for him to get points.. he is a good rebounder.. he is not a player that will require a big contract. he is a team player. he has size & height. doc trusts him. he knows the plays. he is still young. i still dont under stand why people dont like perk. he tries every night.
Id pass on any of those trades..
Baby’s lack of length and rebounding at times is a problem but it only a real problem when Doc unfairly matches up Baby against longer 4 or 5 like was the case last week during the Dallas game when Baby had to play against Dirk.
If Doc plays Baby against small bigs and leaves the longer ones to KG and Jermaine (when he returns from injury) he will be fine.
Also since Baby is playing well so far his trade value has gone up I think the C’s would seek to get a little more in return for him then the players mentioned above if they were to trade him .
Perfect time to trade him...
HIs production is up and, he has an expiring contract! Now would be the perfect time to deal him… but we also have to wait til Marquis can be traded if we have to include him (probably by Dec.)…
I understand that BBD is a fan fave here and his value is even more pronounced with Scal’s departure (kidding!), but I’m also concerned about the future and I want to add some excitement to the team.. I also don’t trust the O’neals’ health so i think we need to shore up some more.. I hope y’all fell me on this one..
Did you forget the part where this is a championship push year?
You are talking about trading our #6 & #7 rotation players away (and they are currently #5 & #8 in minutes per game).
That is a MAJOR chunk of the team to be sending away. You have to get back similar or better value that you can integrate and contend with THIS year if you still want to contend.
I’m not saying you can’t do it. But I seriously doubt that by the trade deadline that Davis’ and Daniels’ value to other teams for this year as expirings will exceed their value to the Celtics as major pieces of this year’s push for the title.
I’m just saying that I doubt we want to trade the two of them for say, a 4 year contract on just one semi-stud player. Especially since that player would HAVE to be SF in order to replace Daniels’ role – but you are talking about the bench SF behind Pierce – who we already have a 4 year contract on.
It just doesn’t make sense to me unless we fall out of contention or there is some major injury that forces us to search for specific help.
a $3.3 million expiring contract is not an asset
and as mmmmm pointed out we have a legitimate shot at a championship, it makes no sense to scrap half our bench and bring in new players. if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
not to mention the fact that neither of those trades are realistic
I understand fully your concern....
of one of the Oneal’s breaking down (due to their age and past injury history) which would then leave the C’s thin at center.
I also understand how you would want to have more length on the bench as insurance in case the above scenario occurs…. I have that same concern also.
I see it this way though :
If Perk comes back healthy then even if one of the Oneal’s breaks down we will still have 2 solid back up centers in the other Oneal and Erden to back up Perk at center….
But I would not want to go into the playoffs with just 1 Oneal and Erden (a rookie) at center and agree we would need another big man with length for insurance in case the other Oneal goes down, Perk aggravates his knee or Erden aggravates his shoulder injury in the playoffs etc. which is possible.
My 1st preference would be to keep Baby and add a talented low cost back up center late in the season like Rasheed if the C’s could lure him back.
That would give us the best of both worlds as we retain Baby and get a solid back up center and power forward in Rasheed .
My 2nd preference if the C’s can not get Rasheed to come on board would then to be open to possibly trading Baby in exchande for a lengthtier, athletic power forward who could also spot duty at center.
I would not trade Baby for another center though and I would want a long, athletic power forward instead who could also spot at center so he could also guard the shorter, athletic power forwards that Baby currently guards well.
Because currently only Baby (along with Jermaine and Lasme also) has the speed, body build and skills off the bench to guard the quick, athletic smaller power forwards and if we trade Baby Id like to make sure the player we get in return who can also defend such players.
Just my 2 cents.
BetterTrade Idea
Semir Erden & Avery Bradley for Jason Thompson. This gives us length & youth!
