I was having a discussion with a more casual Celtics today and when I mentioned that we were on a 13 game win streak we got to talking about the current records.
Currently, the Lakers hold the record for longest winning streak at 33-games. 2nd place is Houston at 22- games with many more in the 16-20 range. Interesting side note: the C's have more in the top 12 than any other team and have ended more of the top 12 runs than any other team.
This got me to looking at the C's schedule and if the C's win the next 20, we'd have the chance to take the 33-game record long held by the hated Lakers by beating the Lakers in LA. Now, I fully realize this is a tall order, but to me this seems like a great motivating tool beyond just home-court in the playoffs. And, without a doubt that would become a huge regular season game that would be amazing to watch.
I mean what would be better than cracking an almost 40 year old Laker record in LA, with the added bonus of putting us in great position for the post-season. As long as it doesn't risk the health of the players I think we should go for this, how often does the schedule accommodate you breaking a streak-record against your rival who currently holds that record.
