Messing around with Celtics-Pacers trade involving Ray + Davis

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5446724

Celtics get: Troy Murphy, T.J. Ford, Luther Head

Pacers get: Ray Allen, Glen Davis, J.R. Giddens

Reports are that the Pacers have an overload at PG position, and TJ Ford is on the outside looking in. They would definitely deal Ford. Also heard that Murphy isn't untouchable either. Pacers are a bad team, and might be looking to clear some space. They get Glen Davis for cheap and can keep him for a fraction of the price that Murphy would cost them next year.

Celtics improve this year by getting a solid backup pg and Murphy who can be a beast on the boards and can score as well. Head/Daniels/House can hold down the SG position.

Thoughts?

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Agree.. only if if

they (Pacers or Larry Bird) drop Ray Allen and we (Celtics) get him back in 30 days waiting period… that would be awesome…

My only concern

Is where Murphy would play. Perk and Garnett would start and get the bulk of the minutes. Would Murphy strictly be a bench guy? And if so, wouldn’t that limit his chances of securing those much needed boards?

Yeah he would be a bench guy

But a much more reliable bench guy than Sheed is right now. He can play the PF and C position, and still log a bunch of minutes off the bench for us especially if KG isn’t 100%. He’s a better 3 pt shooter than Sheed so you could put Sheed at the C position and Murphy at PF and force Sheed to go down low and grab rebounds instead of being outside the three point line.
