Will Rondo Start In The All Star Game?

Allen Iverson will miss the All Star Game for personal reasons, so somebody else has to start.  Via Marc Stein:

But choosing a starter to replace Bryant was Karl's call, just as East coach Stan Van Gundy will select the player -- likely Boston's Rajon Rondo or Atlanta's Joe Johnson -- to start in place of Philadelphia's Allen Iverson, who withdrew Thursday because one of his young children is ill.

Before you say it, I know that this isn't important and I know that it doesn't do much to make us a better team.  That said, it would be a nice little treat.  A little like Gerald Green winning the dunk contest when the team was dive bombing into the lottery.

you jus got rondod!

i was thinking about this when i heard a.i. wasnt going to play. he definatly deserves it, as hes one of the most consistent players on the celtics. itd be nice to see this. i hope rondo, pierce, and KG get some energy at this thing to get them rolling into the second half. so this could help.

I'd love to see Rondo get the starting nod.

But I think Rose ultimately gets the start.

I thought Rose was out as well?

If Rondo gets the start, then he’s my pick to win the all-star game MVP, all he needs is the minutes, he will be all over the floor and will pull out some amazing passes.

Funny you should mention the dunk

…because I really don’t want this to be a year when the All-Star game is the highlight of the season.

Having said that, I’m still looking forward to some Cousy 2.0 trick action from Rondo!

Hope he skips it too

He is the only healthy Celtics (at least among starters) around. Don’t play in a meaningless game.

Not to be cynical....

But for some reason I think Rondo will choke. Since this is his first All Star game I feel like he will try to do too much and wont play very well. Hopefully I will be proven wrong though.

Joe Johnson will get the Nod.

D-Wade to start at point. Book it.

I love Rondo more than most, but Joe Johnson is the heart and soul of an up-and-coming team, and has been in the league longer than Rondo. Rondo will get plenty of turns to start.

The same was said last season.

That’s why I’m waiting until they actually get to the finals this year.

LOOKS THAT WAY...

i’d rather see him get it than kobe
(thats the only way i can feel better!!)

I take a wild guess right now and say SVG is such a dick that he will not start Rondo, simply because he hates Boston.

by P2 on Feb 12, 2010 3:46 AM EST reply actions

He dosen’t deserve it. Collison the rookie just killed him 2 days ago. I’m hoping he doesn’t start. An ego boost is not got for him or the team right now.

Rondo has been the most consistent Celtic...

In my opinion, one bad game doesn’t mean “he doesn’t deserve it.”

Rondo is the best point guard in the East

He should definitely start, I also can’t think of a better player on that team to dish out assists to the other stars.
