Perkins Maybe Out, Pierce In

BostonHerald.com - Perk "likely" out tomorrow; Pierce will play

Kendrick Perkins is not on this afternoon’s flight to Michigan and it doubtful for tomorrow night’s game against the Pistons. But Doc Rivers left the door open, saying that if the Celtics’ starting center feels better, he could fly in tomorrow.

The Celts will welcome Paul Pierce back after a three-game absence.  Pierce worked out today, and his sprained right thumb was fine, having responded well to treatment.

Paul Pierce is the player who I am most worried about health wise.

His decline in the second half of last season + inability to return to health after a setback this season worry me greatly.

last game

I was at the Nets debacle. KG is the only one that looked good in that game. I’m more worried about the rest of them.

Garnett has looked poor physically over the last few games. He has shown some signs of life against the Lakers and Blazers though.

I think if his performances, physically speaking, if they don’t even out over the next two weeks … that’s when I’ll become more worried about Kevin.

The last time Pierce had a good game was against the Hawks and that was a month ago.

And Pierce had more bad or so-so games in the month of January than good ones despite the team needing him to step up and lead the way with Garnett out injured.
