First Quarter FAIL
Grizzlies at Celtics game updates - Celtics Blog - Boston.com
The home fans are frustrated by a Celtics offense that has mustered just 12 points (The Celtics' previous low for the first quarter this season was 12 against the Magic on Nov. 20). The Celtics are 5 of 20 from the field.

the down 22 points?
sad to say it has been that way a couple of games already and as much as i want the celtics to win another championship, championship caliber teams just doesn’t make it a habit of letting their opponents score at will, it wouldn’t hurt as much if the celtics lose a close game just as long as they put all 48 minutes of effort into the game, and what really bugs me is that they can play smarter basketball, and we all know that they are capable of doing that. It’s fun to watch a team that overachieves just as it sucks to watch a team that continues to underachieve.
and for the record also i would gladly eat my words
if that is what it takes for the C’s to win this game!
Bloods in the water...
the sharks be circling. Clearly the entire league knows if they play hard the C’s won’t.
Well, that was a drag
But predictable, unfortunately.
Every time I see Marc Gasol I’m thinking the Lakers kept the wrong brother

i wanna believe but its getting hard
reaaaaally hard
wheres waltah?
We have 33 pts going into the 3rd quarter, so all i can think of is that playoff game when we brought in Waltah and he hit some treys and grabbed a couple offensive rebounds and put back a couple baskets played tough D and motivated the entire team and we scored like 37 pts in the 4th quarter to come back and win the game…
Those Southwest legs
I’m getting sick of the ad but I’d rather watch a great set of legs than this dead soul of a basketball team. Even Doc must be exasperated because he put Sheldon in (which resulted in nothing). Pierce terrible, Marquis terrible, Perkins terrible, Rondo terrible. No hustle at all. Rasheed and KG looked like Hasheem thabeet
KG
Needs to get a lay up coach or something
the few, the proud, the boston celtics

PP and Rondo have combined for 1 rebound
I remember PP used to average around 7 rebounds and would put up some double digit rebounding games in the past and i remember last yr Rondo would get around 6 rebounds and just missed a few triple-doubles by a rebound or two..
Guys you need to REBOUND!!
Finley is thinking…I think I picked the wrong team

I feel bad for Finley
And Nate and Quis. They came to this team thinking they were going to be part of something special. Instead they end up in this crapshoot.

Sheed and Ray are the only ones playing with energy.
This may be pathetic on our end but give it to Memphis they are playing great ball, and the ball is luckilly falling their way too.
seems like so did they
were they really so demoralized last night to come with this energy tonight

didnt even try
save for Ray (and Sheed!!!)
incredibly only the14th double digit loss in the last 3 years, for perspective sake the next fewest double digit losses over the last 3 years is the lakers with 26.

pull up your socks, loosen your jocks (they must be too tight) and play the damn game
you arent gonna win, but stop letting yourselves get embarassed. GET SOME STOPS!
Ummmm
The Celts don’t act, look or play like a pro team these days. Really I just don’t get it. I have never seen a team as bipolar as this season’s Celtics. I think I just heard Tommy say, “If you going to loose, loose by thirty.” This teams only frustrates me lately. Wondering if they decide to show up for the Cavs, otherwise I might have to stop watching until the playoffs. If the Celts are going to take the regular season off then I should too.

Cavs fan you’re purposefully lying about the stats there. What did someone steal your boyfriend? Why are you so bitter?
easy mistake
actually it sounds like you are bitter, are you projecting…

Silver Lining Dept. (sarcasm)
They won the second half 58-56.
You mean...
they gave up 56 points after going down 33 in the first half? ugh
'sume you mean "after going down 55-33 in the first half?"
Yup.
Other silver (or at least interesting) tidbits:
Sheed had 6 (count ’em SIX) steals.
Memphis shot a ridiculous 55% from the field including an even more absurd 56% from beyond the 3PT line!
Conversely, while we shot a pretty decent 45% overall, we SUCKED ROYAL from beyond the arc at 28.6%.
Memphis had only 3 steals. YET we (Celtics) still managed to turn the ball over 10 times. We stole the ball 11 times. They ended up at 15 TOs overall.
thought they were down 22 at the half
is my math wrong?

Yup, thanks mmm
I was on my 4th adult beverage by then and forgot a few words. I gave 100% effort, though so I hope you guys let it slide!
Sigh ... I have tickets for the Pacer's game.
I hope they got this poopy mess out of their system.
I have no idea what Doc could possibly say to this team to straighten this out.
Whatever problem, its mental. The numbers and history is there to show that they HAVE the physical capability to play way better than what they showed in that first quarter – or any of these various single quarter meltdowns.
And further the ‘problem’ is something in the starters. They have been the ones on the floor most of the time when we’ve imploded, whether to start the 3rd (Magic) or the end of the 4th (several games) or the first period (this game).
The starters just played HORRIBLE in that first period today. 12 points. Once in the 20 pt hole, the bench just held serve – and the starters did about the same when they came back in. And that’s how it ended.
