Should Perk And Davis Be Playing?
PERK:
Six days before JR Giddens was sent to D-League, and ultimately traded, he was in at the end of a half, and with about 3 seconds left, he had the ball with enough time to take the last shot. Instead, with no chance to think it through, he instinctively passed to TA who had no chance to get a shot off as the buzzer sounded. I said then that that play would be the end of JR – that Doc, seeing that play, would conclude, as I did, that this kid’s instincts were all wrong, that he was a loser by nature, that he was HOPELESS. And that’s exactly what happened.
Tonight, Perk did the same kind of thing in the Grizzlies game. At ~3:00 of the 1st quarter, Young got the ball in the right corner. Perk was the only Celtic anywhere near him. Perk started to close out, and got to where he could have easily jumped to try to block the shot, or at least bother it. Instead, he stopped short, and then stood there and watched as Young swished it. Doc, watching that, could rightly conclude that Perk is hopelessly out of it. I have.
That play was just... incredible to see from Perk, whose main function on this team is defense. Just... unbelievable. That is a man who doesn't care, who has given up, who doesn't belong on the court with this team (at least not right now).
DAVIS:
Baby's mental error came at ~9:00 of the 2nd quarter. Williams was bringing up the ball and went around a pick set by Gasol. Baby, tracking the play, inexplicably decided to TRIPLE-TEAM Williams, now dribbling on the right side. And so Gasol was able to literally WALK in from the left for a simple, uncontested dunk.
One of many lapses by the Cs tonight.
But please, Davis... grow a brain, infant.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Davis-YES, Perk-no
We need a new lineup.
Starters: Rasheed, Davis, Finley, Ray Allen, Rajon
Let’s see how this works out. Our present starters, except for Ray and Rajon are not doing the job. They know it, we know it. Let’s play those who can defend, rebound and score.
Perk yes, Davis no
Perk is still way better than Sheed on D and pretty much the only guy on the team who does a half way decent job at rebounding (sorry KG but your not a good rebounder anymore).
Now think about Baby, on any top team in the league (Cavs, Magic, Hawks, Lakers, Mavs and Nuggets) he could only hope for garbage time minutes at best. If he was in Cleveland he probably wouldn’t even be asked to suit up.
But in Boston he’s playing decent backup minutes, robbing time of Williams (you know, that power forward that actually plays like a power forward).

Sorry, I totally disagree
I’m not giving up on Perk, but Sheed is defending very, very well. So is Davis. I expect Davis to become a top player in the league, frankly. Tonight he got his jump shot back. He hustles, rebounds (offensive), defends and gathers points.
I did think Sheldon looked pretty good tonight too, and hope that he and Tony Allen can get some confidence back with more playing time.
HORRIBLE!
Perkins is Horrible and BBD is garbage. Perk does play defense but he is 3 steps to slow. He has 2 moves. He pounds the ball into the ground either shoots a hook shot or fade away and always misses. We should have traded his ass when we had a chance. BBD does hustle but he can’t make a layup and his slow butt cant finish around the rim. The Celtics are done for this season
No, I don't think so.
ShahLayLee, BBD has scored good points and offensive rebounds in the minutes he plays. If you look at his points in the stats, he has averaged very well in the time he has been given. Not to mention, his excellent defense. So far as Perk goes and KG and PP, and the 30+ minutes they play per game, I don’t understand why they are messing up so bad. I don’t think Perk cries over everything. He simply expresses his frustration and as he grows more mature, he’ll find better expression.
the wrong game
i can’t help but get the impression that
BBD and Perk with their builds and attitude
would be better football players than basketball players.
Neither shoots well and neither has enough speed
or ball control.
They are built like mack trucks. Where does that get you in basketball ?
