CUT RASHEED AND PLAY 8-9 GUYS

It's time to cut Sheed. This was a bad idea from the get go. The experiment hasn't worked. While I understand  hind sight is 20/20, it's ok to admit the truth. The C's shouldn't have signed him. He showed up with man breasts and clearly out of shape. Once again he is at or near the top of the league in technical fouls, even though he plays only 20 min. per game. I believe he has infected and stunted the growth of Perkins as well. Cutting Sheed would not only get his soft D and crappy attitude out of sight and out of mind but would also open up time for those more deserving. It is also time the C's start playing 8 to 9 guys. Aside from our starting 5, it would be best if we played Nate, Davis, and Finley. The rest of the team can get minutes when available. Shelden and Daniels would still find some time but we need to get a rotation set. I have to say I am disappointed with the teams lack of desire and overall hustle.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Why cut him and still have to pay his salary, AND luxury tax?

Try to move him, if not – see if he’s amenable to a buyout.

what team would take him? really… try to move him????

First off, relax a bit bud.

Secondly, allegedly Larry Brown was interested in him before the deadline for DJ Augustin… no reason why we can’t revisit that possibility to try and get something in return for. As opposed to just buying him out and still having nothing to show cuz we’re so far over the cap that lost his $6m salary isn’t much of a difference maker.

Cut Rasheed....

Who is going to play back up center??

We would be in the same position we were last year when opposing big centers were over powering us in the low post when undersized Baby and Powe were serving as our back up centers.

Do we really want to go up against Orlando’s- Howard, Cleveland – Shaq and LA’s Bynum (If we do make it that far ) with Baby and Shelden as our back up centers?

What if even worse what happens if Perk gets in foul trouble or gets hurt, what would we do then without Rasheed?

Rasheed has struggled this year but for a 35 year old nonathletic big man to begin with he has done his job as back up center by helping defend the low post and not allowing centers to dominate us in the low post when we go to the bench as was the case last year.

Rasheed is for all his faults still our best big man off the bench this year since he more talented and productive then either Baby or Shelden.
He also offers us something that Baby and Shelden can not offer which length and a low post scoring threat.

Could he be playing overall better this year, maybe yes, but maybe no.
Who knows maybe father time has caught up with him and no matter how hard he mentally wants to play (or we fans criticize him to do so), maybe due to no fault of his own his body due to age has deteriorated to a point where he is not capable of producing at a high level anymore on the court as he was able to do in previous years.

Until we get another younger back up center (which I hope will be a big propriety for the C’s this off season), Rasheed is the best and only option we have at back up center this season and must be utilized in the meantime.

are you watching the games? he showed up out of shape. father time doesn’t stop someone from working hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree he could be in better shape...

but Sheed never had that lean look ala Perk as he always had that baby fat body look to him.

I disagree that father time does make some people get lazy….it does and that is just one of the sad effects of aging.

how many games...

has he even broken a sweat….really

here, here. He single handedly lost this game today when he missed 4 straight shots and failed to box out or defend varajeo at all to open the 4th quarter. Doc immediately had to put in KG which let to his 5th foul. All this, not to mention his Techinicals.
Drop him Danny, he’s a locker room cancer and a lazy bum.

everyone has their bad days.

just last week we were applauding Sheed saying he was the only bright spot.
Cut Sheed some slack. More importantly, just like escort says he is our best backup center. What more he’s a very reliable free throw shooter.

Bad day... Bad year

FG% 40.3

3PT% 28.5

and yes his FT% is good at 80% but hes only getting to line 1.61 times per game.

Cut the cancer

The Rasheed experiment is a failure and its long time for the front office to face up to it. These are the BOSTON CELTICS. A team built on defense, heart and grit all the way back to Auerbachs teams of the 50s. Thats what Celtics basketball is and what Rasheed has shown you he is not. I dont know how anyone watching the game films can honestly say that he is out there even giving 50 percent effort. He wont box out, barely waves at the opposition as the drive past him and begrudingly at best will go down to the low post on offense to do any dirty work. HE IS A CANCER. You have both Davis and Williams who are supposedly less talented than this supposed ex-superstar, but yet they both CONSTANTLY WILL FIGHT FOR REBOUNDS, DIVE FOR LOOSE BALLS AND FOUL FOR REAL SO THE OPPOSITION DOESNT GET THE AND 1 THAT SHEED GIVES UP AT LEAST TWICE A GAME BY BARELY SLAPPING AT THE OPPOSITION. I almost did a backflip when Williams came off the bench yesterday because at least we had someone WILLING to match their big mens (Varejo) desire and hustle. We all know or say we know what Celtics basketball is but then accept effort like what Rasheed puts out and say its not the problem. If winning is contagious, so is losing or apathy. And I believe his actions also dirrectly affect Perkins as well over the last 4 or 6 weeks. Even though Perk isnt widely recognized as a great offensive talent, we all know hes been a hard working mean s.o.b. It used to be he might just eat your children. You would see him sprint up the floor, NEVER give up an easy basket or even let someone not the opposing big man into the paint without paying the price. But lately, he walks slowly back up the floor, it seems he pouts about what he thinks are bad calls and his “Ill eat your children” snarl has been replaced by a look of utter loss. Seem like anyone else on this team? And who would blame Perk if he is discouraged. His backup gets as many minutes as he and is put in the game in the fourth when it counts even though he gives the effort of a girl scout. ITS TIME TO CALL SHEED WHAT HE IS, A FAILURE IN GREEN AND A CANCER ON A TEAM THAT USED TO PRIDE ITSELF (AND WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP) BASED ON DEFENSE AND EFFORT/HEART. Thats what Perk, Davis and Rondo gave you last year in the playoffs when we were injury decimated (remember that?) and we were within one game of the eastern finals. Wake up and get bench this cancer before he permanently infects this team

On the flip side....

Rasheed has played 153 playoff games averaging 14 pts a game + a championship ring , could be a big help in those pressure cooker playoff games.

Absolutely, Sheed is a good guy to have come playoff time, and even though Sheed is some-what lazy sometimes, hes a good scorer. Hes just old, and everyone on this team has gotten lazy before. So just dont throw him under the bus. Ray Allen, and KG exert the most effort imo. Nate shows good effort so does Baby and Finley.

Sheed

I hope I have to eat my words, but the assertion that Sheed is a good guy come playoff time has no merit. One can not turn it on and off like a switch. Not a champion anyway. The money would have been better spent on another player. Finley just joined the team and has already displayed more professionalism and level of production than Sheed. And how can one ignore the league lead in technical fouls by Sheed. It’s not helping and he’s very close to the auto suspension that comes with going over the league limit. That might happen in the playoffs. Is that going to make him a good guy come crunch time? Nope. There isn’t another playoff team in the league that would take him for free. His bad habits are contagious. Time to call a spade a spade and admit the mistake.
