Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

"I'm not going to sugarcoat it. I led a very expensive lifestyle," Walker said. "I took care of my family. I was very generous to my family and my friends."

"He became addicted to gambling," she explained, "and he ran through millions taking care of more than 50 people who are nowhere to be found now that he needs the help."

that’s what happens when you use money to make friends. you don’t actually make any friends.

by incoherent. on Mar 21, 2010 2:46 PM EDT reply actions

Did you watch it?

That’s not at all what I got from it. I don’t disagree with your point, but you should watch the clip because “using money to make friends” doesn’t really seem to be the point of what Toine was up to.

Sad...

I was just watching this on espn.

All that money. All that success.

One of the few players to win a college championship and NBA championship. All gone. He’s now become a pariah in the place that made him a star. He’s lost nearly everything, yet he still has to lose more. A lesson to never to take anything for granted.

A fool and his money are soon parted...

Walker is a fool…I`ll save my sympathies for those who truly deserve it!

Never judge a man before you walk in his shoes...

Until you have millions of dollars and a ‘rock star’ lifestyle, you wont know how you will act.

by thenation on Mar 21, 2010 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions

That doesn't change

How I hope I would act, or what the right way to act is… you might as well not ever have an opinion about any behavior if you have this attitude, since you never walk in anyone’s shoes.

Gambling addiction? Please. Society indulges these behaviors by excusing them – to society and the individual’s determent.

by Brendan on Mar 21, 2010 9:55 PM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

So what you're saying is...

…That Gambling is NOT an Addiction?

If it’s not, then what is it? What do you call someone who cannot control himself as far as Gambling goes? Is there another name for it ‘cause if it’s not addiction, what is it?

Read this :

http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/9906/18/gambling.addiction/

Sounds like an addiction to me, Brendan. Society doesn’t seem to feel the same way you do, apparently.

by BNTHIS on Mar 21, 2010 10:31 PM EDT up reply actions

I didn't say its not an addition

I’m happy to say it is. Doesn’t justify the behavior. If I kill three people drunk driving, I should get your sympathy?

Gambling addiction is a choice either way. Don’t want to lose all your money, don’t go to casinos.

by Brendan on Mar 22, 2010 12:17 AM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

If it were that easy....

….then there’d be no husbands who waste away all of the family’s money for their “choice” at all.

There would be no Addiction to begin with if it was merely “a choice”. Fact is that once you start, it is extremely difficult to stop. Personally, I make sure this never happens for when I go to a casino in Atlantic City, I always keep whatever winnings I may earn on the side(or in another pocket) and continue playing either the same machine or go to a different machine using my “Casino Money” that I brought from home.

I don’t go to the BlackJack tables ‘cause for one : I don’t know the game.

But I’m straying from the point here….It doesn’t justify the behavior but why are you comparing someone who KILLS Three People drunk driving to someone who wrote bad checks? The only thing Toine did was kill his Financial status. Very Poor comparison, Brendan.

by BNTHIS on Mar 22, 2010 1:01 AM EDT up reply actions

Title 18…you have a keyboard and an internet connection, yet you come off worse than “8” Antoine Walkers. Get a grip, learn how to act on a more-grand stage, and your credibility may begin to show its face. Until then, you’re a poorer version of what you make fun of. Ironic, much???

And, yes. I’ll say it. You’re a tool.

Hey scott...

You should’ve just called Title 18 a tool and be done with it. No need to elaborate any further than that he’s a Tool. Everyone realizes the rest of what you said without you saying it. lol. :)

Whoops. I used to frequent this board as much as any, yet I relented. I honestly didn’t realize he was such an easy target, up to this point, anyway. Regardless, I don’t like him. Peace.

Stay classy

So he can’t judge Walker based on living a foolish lifestyle and gambling away his fortune – but you can judge Title by his internet posts?

Umm...Yeah.

When it comes to demonstrating one’s character flaw, Title_18 is about as subtle as a jackhammer.

His posts show this. So yes, Brendan. You CAN judge Title by his internet posts.

Coming from the projects where you have dp many close people so much poverty ,can’t say I wouldn’t do the same thing just a little smarter ,it says in the bible not to give to those who will sconder but those who will uplift themselves, sometimes that’s a hard depiction to make .I hope with all honesty he lands on his feet, because 99.9 percent of those people is never gonna return any favor

What exactly have YOU done to be able to sit there on top of your High-Horse and say garbage like that regarding Antoine?

Folks, believe what you want, but walker is not a victim. I feel sorry for his tragedy of squandering millions, but at least he has his health.

by jurrasicearl on Mar 21, 2010 5:08 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

True...

HOWEVER, When is kicking-a-man-when-he’s-down going to stop, jurrasicearl? Okay….We’re jealous that he had all that money and are mocking him(some of us, not me) now that he squandered it all. Fine. The Fun’s over. He has a daughter to take care of…He’s got to get himself out of Debt-Hell(which we’re all familiar with).

When is the proper time to start showing at least SOME Sympathy, man? WHEN???? WHEN?

by BNTHIS on Mar 21, 2010 5:10 PM EDT up reply actions

I dont think anybody's seeing Antoine as being a 'victim'

He is someone who has learned from his mistakes and I personally am rooting for him. This is allowed, right?

by thenation on Mar 21, 2010 5:13 PM EDT reply actions

Actually...

I kind of see him as a victim ‘cause his Friends(more like Hanger-ons) weren’t there in the end to help him…..

I see him as a victim because if MJ never showed Walker the wonders of Gambling, He’d probably still be in the League right now. And speaking of which, WHERE THE HELL IS MJ RIGHT NOW?

You think he’d give Walker a break and let him into the Bobcats organizatin now that he’s become Majority owner?? He owes Antoine ‘cause he passed on his Addiction to someone who didn’t have the constant stream of money that MJ kept having come in day after day even when not playing….

Anyway, he’s a victim because the Current NCAA and NBA structure is very FLAWED. There should ALWAYS be someone to teach Players going into the NBA how to manage their money WISELY and to look out for people coming out of the woodwork asking for handouts….

by BNTHIS on Mar 21, 2010 5:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Here I thought Walker was the world`s biggest clown...

For flushing $109 Million down the toilet.

I was wrong!
The real “clown title” belongs to BNTHIS…for calling Walker a “victim”!!!!

What? Aren`t you going to help out the poor “victim”?
Where is your compassion, hypocritical fanboy?

by Title 18 on Mar 21, 2010 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions

So let me get this straight....

Showing Compassion toward someone should equal giving the person MONEY?

I’m not allowed to feel bad for him?

And you’re saying I’m a Clown for showing compassion toward someone?

Then you are truly an a-hole, T18. I can’t believe that there are people like you out there who hide behind their computers, talk a bunch of shit, and not suffer any consequences……(on second thought, I CAN believe it…)

by BNTHIS on Mar 21, 2010 9:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Of course...giving money to a destitute person shows great compassion!

BNTHIS…Don`t just talk about compassion, demonstrate it!

All you have to do is send him your “Welfare Check” for the month of April!
You`ll feel much better about yourself.

by Title 18 on Mar 21, 2010 9:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Well then!!! If that's how you feel....

WHY NOT PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH, A-HOLE?

Why don’t you send HIM a “Donation”? Why don’t you “demonstrate” to me what it means to show compassion since you’re getting all uppity about it?

by BNTHIS on Mar 21, 2010 9:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Why?

Because I do NOT have compassion for fools…FOOL!

by Title 18 on Mar 21, 2010 9:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Not only is it against our rules, neither of you are winning too many comedic style points either.

No problems here, man.

By the way, have you been keeping track of Toine’s progress in Puerto Rico?

by BNTHIS on Mar 22, 2010 1:20 AM EDT up reply actions

Title 18 is a little harsh but c'mon...

he’s more right than wrong. Antoine didn’t get his legs blown off in Iraq. Or work his fingers to the bone with nothing to show. He squandered over $100 million. You are what your record says you are, as the Tuna used to say, and Antoine is a loser. Illegitimate children, multiple Bentley’s, IOUs everywhere. Heck, I liked him as a Celtic. And to me it is sad (since I didn’t live in one of the millionaire’s tenements.) rather than angering. But Title 18 sees it hard, not wrong.

by Wildblu1 on Mar 21, 2010 6:12 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah they are.

I would never call someone who is down on his luck “a loser” no matter how much money he had. I’m not that type of person….but it appears that Wildblu1 is and that’s very sad. :(

I think if one calls someone else a Loser, that person should look in the mirror….Just saying.

by BNTHIS on Mar 23, 2010 12:14 PM EDT up reply actions

Nice deflection, hypocrites!

I take it none of you will be sending Antoine your hard earned cash… not to mention offering him a room in your homes.

But, you`ll continue to “pretend” that you actually care about him.

One thing that cannot be denied is that walker is a generous soul. Unfortunately, he spent too much on the wrong people, wrong things, and in the wrong places.

by jurrasicearl on Mar 21, 2010 7:41 PM EDT via mobile reply actions   1 recs

rec'd

But I only rec’d it as far as the “Wrong People” and the “Wrong Places” goes….There’s no such thing as spending money on the “wrong things” because what is “wrong” is in the eyes of the beholder.

But all in all, a very good post.

by BNTHIS on Mar 21, 2010 9:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Generous fool

maybe. But pathetic and not sympathetic.

He’s no blind Oedipus and having his corpse burried in your country won’t bring you good fortune.

All his success was his own, all his failure is his own too. No one robbed him (well except that one time we know about). He gave away – directly to his friends and through gambling – a fortune. The Greeks used to call this hubris. Now they just call it “the current economic situation.”

by Brendan on Mar 21, 2010 10:05 PM EDT up reply actions

huh?

How is he pathetic? Are you saying that “being kind and generous” is actually “being pathtetic”? What school did you learn that from?

A Blind Oedipus? Having his corpse buried in your country won’t bring you good fortune? What exactly does that mean, Brendan? Is that some kind of expression ’cause I can guarantee that it has gone over the heads of EVERYONE here.

Yes, His success was his own and his failure was his own, as well. And, to be precise, he got robbed TWICE. And yes, Walker exercised poor judgment in not knowing when to say when and when to recognize that his “friends” are not really his friends.

Gambling, however, I blame MJ more for this than Antoine. Of course, MJ didn’t put a gun to Toine’s head and forced him to rack up the debts but he planted the seed that would lead him to this. I remember reading somewhere that before hanging out with MJ, he wouldn’t even look twice at a poker/craps table. Meeting and hanging out with MJ had to be the worst thing that has ever happened to him, as it turns out(hindsight being 20/20 and all).

Antoine made a mess of things with his Gambling Addiction(because that’s what it is) but I’d be remiss if I didn’t believe that this road would not have been taken had he never met MJ.

And If someone bashes me for believing that, so be it. Life is full of What-if’s. Consider this one of them….
