Leon Powe Returning to Form in Cleveland

Congratulations to our old friend Leon "The Show" Powe, who led the Cavs with 16 points in their win over the Pistons tonight.  In the absence of Shaq and Big Z, Leon seems to have made some fantastic contributions, and I'm happy for the big fella.

That said, I'm not rooting for him when he faces The Green.

Star-divide

From Brian Windhorst's beat blog:

"Delonte West came down the lane, drew attention from Pistons defenders, and slipped a pass off to Leon Powe. With a clear lane to the basket, Powe pushed off his recovering left knee to take a step and then slammed down his first competitive dunk in nearly a year.

"My brother and my father keep calling me and asking 'can you give me a dunk?' said Powe, who led the Cavs (56-15) with a season-high 16 points.

"I told them I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. But I saw the opportunity so I went and tried it and I dunked it. It felt good off the leg, it didn't bother me afterwards so I was happy about that.""

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I just wished he didn't get injured last year

I’d prefer him over BBD on any given day. If he hadn’t been injured, and we were able to immediately get a back up for Pierce (which turned out to be Daniels and just recently, Finley), Powe would still be a Celtic and Ainge could have traded Scal to other teams. I just thought that Ainge didn’t let go of Scal because he was the primary back-up for Pierce and also a stretch 4.

It’s tough to see him doing good for a team that I don’t like. I wish him all the best though.

Yes, intimidation is the key to domination.

Leon should have stayed loyal to the team that got him the ring!

I hope we get him back in green! Garnett needs help! Being Lebron’s “supporting cast” is not going to win the prize!

He was loyal, but if the GM tells you straight up "We have a 2 year window and we can't save a spot for an injured guy."

What do you do? Hang around and twiddle your thumbs? Or go ahead to a team that wants you?

Leon still has a ways to go, though I am happy for him getting back to himself

It is hard o root for him in red, but I will continue.
Yes powe was loyal but whenit was not returned and no contract was offered (I too was pissed but think of the start of the season and babys injury, if powe too was injured then sheed and scal would have been our only 2 bigs off he bench) it was a business decision, one I can’t blame them for, though I wish they had created a position for him so he didn’t count against the roster or cap, then could have added him to the active team roster after the trade deadline. You know a coaching position or maybe a community outreach position working with local kids, and he could still use the training facilities too.
Ah well, it never happened, it is how it is. Good for you Leon, go get em, just not against us.

And baby has had several 20 points games, and has a good role on this team too, is even begining to have a producive inside game, which was leon’s spcialty

powe a celtic in 2011 ??

all the celtics had to do was what the cavs did wait and good things will happen they gambled on leon and it payed off for the cavs he is just another weapon if bid z resgns with the cavs they wont drop powe they will keep him , i think if the cavs dont resign him at the end of the season there is a great chance he will be back in boston because danny knows he made a mistake he gambled that nobody was going to sign a guy with 2 acl surgerys and wait for him to rehab half the season bur he was wrong because the cavs did and the lakers were in line next if the cavs passed on him wake up danny sign poew next year and bring him back where he belongs in celtic green good luck leon ..

the Cavs have a team option on Powe for $900K next year. they’ll use that option.
