Paul Pierce shoots at the buzzer and misses, once again ...
Believe me, I love Pierce but why shoot the last shot when u go 3-13 ??? isn't that kind of stupid !?
I personally think Pierce wanted to be the HERO mora than he wanted the GAME !!!!
KG or RAY should've gotten the last shot !
BAD PLAY BY PIERCE & THE CELTICS
DOC WAKE UP !
By the way Kevin Garnett had 12 p 10 reb in the begining of the 3rd why can't DOC let him play a lil bit more AT THE END OF GAMES !!!!????????
I'M FED UP
BANNER 18 is a long way to go .
BUT I STILL BELIEVE
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I have to agree
I have no longer confidence in Paul Pierce when he takes the last shot.
He either gets stripped or the ball clangs off the rim.
I hold my breath watching Pierce penetrate now.
Where has Paul's shot gone?
I was happy that Paul got an open shot at all. He just can’t seem to knock it down…at all. Where has his shot gone? Surprisingly he can shoot 3’s well at this point, but he can’t seem to get anything going with his mid-range game.
I have no idea why? Does anyone know why? This team has been getting by with roughly 10 less points per game with Paul not knocking down this shot. Where has it gone?

Not his shot.
It’s his legs. Physically, he still hasn’t fully recovered from the injuries he had earlier in the season. Not enough strength means less ability to change direction quickly, or elevate for the shot, which is why he is getting swatted and stripped in the key all the time. Watch him closely and you will see he is not moving that well at the moment. I hope he recovers enough in time for the playoffs, but not sure that he will. Age may be slowing him down now.

That makes sense
I didn’t consider that. This would explain why his 3 pt shot is still falling…for him, it doesn’t really require jumping.
I was dumbfounded during the Bucks game because Paul seemed to move well. Yet his actual shot, both in mid-range isolation plays, and at the end of drives had no lift to them. He barely seemed to get them off.
I didn’t see this earlier in the year. This means it must be injury related…or more likely from a lack of strength in the area of injury. 20 regular season games, and 4-7 1st round games remain before Paul is TRULY needed 100% back (hopefully against Orlando). I hope this duration of time will do it for him!

No Fancy Crap!!!!
just put the ball… in the basket. that is all you are required to do. Why the hell do they have to try last ditch heroics?

Could have been a better last shot
but it wasn’t too far off. Pierce rimmed it out – it happens! I don’t think its fair to blame Pierce for that shot. He would simply have been trying to execute the play Doc called. When no-one else was open off the KG screen, he realised he needed to take the shot. It was a decent look for Pierce, so I’m okay with it.
I admit I was hoping they might run that play they have had success with before though – where Pierce gets it at the top of the key, but then hits Ray across court around the 45 for the three. They won a game against he Bobcats that way and beat another team too.
Agreed
He had a good look, shot didn’t drop. It happens. There are times when clutch players just don’t convert. Kobe also had a bad run of missed clutch moments (not only shots) last season and in 08. It happens.

Kobe's missed quite a few this season too
…And if that’s how the Lakers intend to win games, they’re not going to go far in the playoffs.
Paul was a very bad choice for Doc. Just ridiculous to give the last shot to a guy who’d missed all of his prior jumpers except one, and was shooting 3-12 overall at that point. Anybody else would have been better (excl Perk of course).
In my humble opinion...
I think that the Celtics play their best offensive ball when Rondo drives to the hoop and makes a decision. Rondo is without a doubt the best decision-maker with the ball in his hands on the team.
Yes, Pierce is the captain and that isolation has been fine with me when the Celtics had no better option to go to. But I think that now, in 2010, that Rondo has evolved enough as to where he should be in control of the game as it wanes to an end. Whether it is him penetrating and kicking to an open man or taking it himself and drawing contact or a signature “Rondo floater,” I think the probability of making the shot has a better chance than a Pierce isolation.
All teams expect us to isolate Pierce and they know that either Pierce is going to take the game upon himself to win or feed Ray for a 3. It would be nice to see a little switch and give Rondo (our future) an opportunity to seize the game.
Again, I believe that the Pierce isolation USED to be the best go-to play WHEN it was our best option, but I think Rondo’s leadership on the floor, deception, and fantastic decision-making ability has finally surpassed the Pierce isolation regarding efficiency.
on the same night that
KOBE hits his 6th game winner of the season with under 10 seconds on the clock
I want a 6th choice
…for the Bucks game: “Anybody except Paul (and Perk.)”
I don't understand...
When someone is having a bad night and is cold as ice, why the hell do you give them the last shot. I don’t think it was Pierce trying to be a hero; I just think that is the play Doc drew up. KG or Ray should have had the ball. Either that or make another play to Rondo. Paul and Nate should have been setting screens because Nate wasn’t shooting well either. Its not that Paul has lost his touch, its just everyone has a bad night once in a while. I mean would anyone want to see KG take the last shot against the Wizards? Of course not, but it would have been really nice to see him shoot it last night. Poor, poor play.
Yes, it was the play Doc drew up
In another thread, I was informed that KG set a pick for Paul, giving him the space to take the shot. I hadn’t remembered that pick… I remember Paul having to fall back to take the shot… but I was given this info from someone who had just reviewed that part of the game, so it’s reliable.
I believe that Doc is probably right
…in going to Paul a lot at this time, when he’s ice cold. This regular season, right now, is all about preparing for the games that count, the playoffs. They cannot win then if Paul is still shooting like this. So it’s better to give Paul lots of shots now, and let him miss what he has to miss, so long as he FINALLY breaks out of this ridiculous slump he’s in, in time for the playoffs.
And there’s a good chance Paul WILL break out, because his overall physical condition looks excellent. He played with LOTS of energy and mobility. So it’s just a matter of getting his shooting touch back… which should happen soon.
But… I would still argue with Paul getting that last shot. Too risky. First, because the game in on the line with that one shot, so don’t risk the whole game to give Paul ONE more practice shot. Second, if he misses it (which was very likely at that point), it puts him back even further, by draining his confidence. So that was a bad call, regardless.
