It doesn't matter who starts in place of Garnett, the defense is going to have its work cut out for them.
The Celtics went 6-7 without Garnett this season and his absence is felt greatest on the defensive end. "The thing I told our guys is the last time Kevin was out, scoring went up for the other team drastically, and we can’t have that," Rivers said. "(Miami is) too good defensively and if you allow Miami to score points with the way that they play defense then we’re in trouble." Rivers expects the Heat to get Beasley more involved than in Game 1, when the athletic power forward had just six points on 3-of-8 shooting. "If you take Kevin off the floor, usually the guy he was guarding is the guy that’s going to get the ball more if he’s an offensive player," Rivers said. "And Michael Beasley is a terrific offensive player."
Beasley is certainly someone to keep an eye on. Hopefully they can focus on team defense. If everyone is making tight rotations then no one player not named Wade can hurt them too badly.
Of course, it wouldn't hurt if some more of the Celtics outside shots started falling as well.
