The One (And Only) Theory Of The 2010 Celtics

Now we all know that the switch was thrown for the playoffs, big time. But how? How did the Celtics ever COME UP with the concept of a switch? The closest thing to an explanation of that in the media has been a lauding of the job Doc Rivers has done.

But Doc Rivers did not invent the switch and then implement it the way it’s been implemented right before our eyes. No way. Even if he thought about soft-pedaling the regular season and saving our guys for the playoffs (as some of us suggested he should) – there is no way that Doc could have the foresight and blind, nutty bravery to actually implement something so dangerous. No, it was not Doc.

If anything, Sheed had more to do with the arrival of this “new paradigm” than Doc did. Doc let it happen. And he should be rightly credited with that. But how did it come about in the first place? What has happened inside the 2010 Celtics has been something nobody’s ever seen before in the NBA. The closest was the 1969 Celtics – and even that amazing performance does not compare to 2010.

Having reread a theory posted in mid-March about how the Celtics new paradigm developed – organically, and not by any one person – I don’t see ANYTHING now to refute any of it. And since there has been no other theory – I believe that one must be correct.

Here it is, the link below:

It would be very interesting if some reporter would ask Doc or some of the players about this. (I bet Doc would have to think about it a while.)
