After watching last nights lakers-suns game, Amare stoudemire absolutely LIT UP Pau Gasol inside. KG has a similar freakish athleticism with a little more skill and a little less quickness/power, a little more postup game and a lot better passing....... but is too unselfish compared to Amare offensively inside... but his defense which could shut down a gasol compared to amare who cant.
The point is this: KG is the key to our chances of winning the championship. When we destroyed the lakers a in 08 Pierce and Ray were our two best players in that series and i dont think theyll be quite as good this time around, Rondo wasnt anywhere near he player he is now and i fully expect him to light up fisher, making up for that. But the lakers are also better now than they were then, with Bynum included (having Sheed is a godsend for that, he can spread the floor like posey while matching up with bynum), and most especially because of the addition of ron artest instead of vladimir radmonovic. brown>Vujaic too
So its gonna be extremely tight series and i think the x-factor is KG. Can he dominate Gasol and score at will on him til he draws doubleteams? is he healthy enough to do that? you know his defense on gasol is gonna frustrate thehell out of him (Gasol is so good he'll still do okay. Odom wont, he'll get shut down just like jamison ad beasley and rashard). But offensively is where KG will make the difference. I think he's quickand healthy and just plain good/skilled enough to light up Pau offensivley like Amare did last night.
KG has been an MVP, a DPOY, a 25ppg scorer, a 6 assist pergame passer, a leagueleading rebounder, he even led the nba in scoring in 2004 (total points, not ppg)..... but he's neve been a finals mvp nd he's never dominated a playof series besides the WCSF against the kings. he led our team in scoring in the cleveland series and in 2008 playoffs pre-finals, and had three great halfs lighting up gasol in the finals (first half gme 1 and both halfs game 6).
Can KG do what his critics say he never could and why duncan is better: can he dominate offensively and be the best player on a championship team, take over and dominate his matchup. I think he can and will but the reason im not 110% sure of this is the health issue.... what do you guys think?
