If Ray is not in Green next year who takes his spot?

Yes ESPN we realize that LeBron, Dwade, Boozer and Bosh are all free agents, you tell us every 5 seconds.  But there are plenty of other low key players that may actually help the Celtics next season.  Don't get me wrong the number one issue is big men, now with Perks injury, but there are other huge holes such as Head Coach and SG.  If I was a betting man I would put my money on Paul and Doc coming back, I am not so sure with Allen.  Ask me this question the day after his crazy night against LA I'd say he's coming back for sure, but after his huge collapse after that who knows.

S for a min lets pretend Ray goes elsewhere who do we get to fill his spot?  Lets face it the Celts need to get younger, need to build around Rajon, but knowing Danny he will get an older vet.  There is potential players both young and old, but it all comes down to money.

Some options in order of my fav

Rudy Gay

Joe Johnson (yeah yeah I know it's not happening)

Tyrus Thomas (move PP to SG? this is a stretch but Thomas is young and talented and may be a good bench pick up anyway)

Shannon Brown (really impressed me durring the finals, I think he has a player option though so most likely he will stick with LA)

J.J, Redick

Ronnie Brewer

Anthony Morrow

Ronald Murray

Devon Brown

Peja Stojakovic

Chris Douglas-Roberts

Rasual Butler

Kyle Korver

Luther Head

Roger Mason

Allen Iverson (joke)

Since Rudy, Joe, Tyrus, and Brown are prob not going to be in green, I can see JJ coming to Boston....To be honest I like the idea of him more than re-signing Ray.  He's much younger, a great shooter, and as he proved in the series against us, is getting much better and can be a real time contributor.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Anthony Morrow

Is a great player. Unfortunately, with the Warriors’ constant lineup fluctuations, Morrow was never able to really shine. Morrow is a great shooter and I feel that if Ray were to go, Morrow would be an excellent replacement.

Side note: In 2009-10, Morrow produced significantly better as a starter than a reserve.

Morrow is 6-5 and weighs 210 lbs.

Young? Check.
Athletic? Check.
Shooter? Check.

2009-10 Percentages:
47% FG
46% 3PT
87% FT

I wouldn’t mind seeing this kid in green next year. Not only will he be cheap, but also (if Doc comes back) can be groomed into a solid defender and improve in other aspects of his game other than shooting. He has only been in the league 2 years. His full potential is yet to be seen.

Agreed

If you take out the top three who arent going to boston, he’s my number two. Even if Doc is not back, I can see PP and KG helping this kid become a great defender…..He would be right up there tied with JJ but i just feel JJ is more likely to land in boston.

Being from the Bay Area, I got to watch Anthony Morrow, and there’s a lot to like about him. He’s a great spot-up shooter and with KG and Pierce, he’ll definitely get the kinds of looks that he’ll be able to put down. At Golden State, my impression was that he was forced to create a lot of his own opportunities (which isn’t his strength), and as a result, he disappeared in some games. That won’t be an issue in Boston.

I'd love to see Rudy Gay or Joe Johnson in green

thing with Rudy Gay is that he’s absolutely explosive on the offensive end (just what we need). I mean we are a great defensive team (prob the best in the league), but the offensive droughts this year really hurt us….so Rudy Gay is someone who is not only young but an offensively consistent player.

I feel bad for saying this, but I don’t want Ray back.

Like Ray but hes not the athlete he once was at 35

I think we have to accept the laws of nature regarding ray allen at 35 paul pierce at 33. Danny has to find a way to either get out of there contracts or adjust them . Rondo our best player is entering his prime he needs running mates for his 10-12 assist a game potentiol . I suggest a younger pierce , rudy gay at pauls spot and a younger maybe oops hungrier allen jj reddick at his spot . Im hearing a lot of anthony morrow of gw but more familiar with reddick . If Perk is gonna miss 35 games we need another big especially since sheed is gone to retirement . I suggest tyson chandler if hes healthy , that could really help the celtics against the best teams .
