134 Free Throws In 96 Minutes -- And Counting

That's too many, most especially for the Finals. A whole lot of people (read: potential new NBA fans) are watching... millions of them. How enamored are they likely to be of the NBA game if it is interrupted every 43 seconds (on average) by a referee's whistle. What could the NBA possibly be thinking? Is this a business, or a farce?

Turns out there's an answer out there. A weird and ridiculous answer, but – given that it reportedly originates from the inner sanctum of the NBA – it's better than what we otherwise have, which is nothing.

Ian Thomsen reports in SI.com (7th paragraph) that he was told that the NBA is most concerned about avoiding an all-out FIGHT between the two teams.

THIS, apparently, is why they are ruining the Finals with endless (often bogus and/or trivial) whistles. They think these teams – both of which are well-disciplined and vet-laden – are in danger of actually fighting each other on national TV. You know... with fists and ear bites.

I knew the NBA was incompetent. I figured they were dishonest. I even recognized that they are deaf and blind to what we fans want.

But really, I never imagined they could be this stupid. It's unbelievable.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.
