The Celtics began their quest to rebuild their roster for another title run by contacting the agent for veteran center Brad Miller, and the interest is mutual.
"The Celtics are a great franchise," Miller's agent, Mark Bartelstein said. "It certainly a team when they are interested, you're crazy not to listen. Danny and Doc do a great job. Brad loves the way the Celtics play. That's why they get into it all the time. They're very competitive; he's very competitive. We'll certainly talk to them and see what happens. It's a real interesting fit. We'll talk to Danny and see what happens here."

The Cavs are also looking for an upgrade at the two; according to Windhorst, the Cavs are looking at Ray Allen, John Salmons, and Mike Miller in free agency. Allen would likely be their #1 choice, but with Doc Rivers returning it seems unlikely that Allen will leave Boston.
Stay tuned for updates.

He was just on CSN New England. He said that with Rudy Gay staying in Memphis, the Clippers are beginning to turn their attention to Paul Pierce.
In regards to Brad Miller, I don’t think I would like to have him here. He has never been known for his defense. I’d rather trade for Dampier or sign a defensive minded and aggressive big. In the possibility that Ainge retains this core, we need more aggressors and not finesse type guys. The Celtics rely too much off of sets and not enough on pure energy. Note how the Lakers have this mastered.

Thats what the C's will miss at the back up center position with Rasheed gone...
a great aggressive low post defender, which Sheed was as he showed us especially in the playoffs.
Unfortunately
There isno player as good as sheed is that we could afford with the mle

Well he not as good a low post defender as Sheed is....
but he is a nice young, strong player that I would not mind having on the roster if the C’s could acquire him someway..
Miller? A finess guy? "never been known for his defense"?
Uh-uh.
Are we talking about the same guy?
Per your other comments – I will take Celtics-style basketball over Laker-style basketball, please.
The basic formula for every Celtic championship team (stifling defense to create high-percentage transition possessions) has won out over the triangle the vast majority of the time. Color me not overly impressed that the Lakers ‘mastered’ whatever. They beat the Celts by 4 lousy points in a 7th game against a Celtics team lacking its starting Center for the last 7 periods of the series.
I didn't like it at first
But I’m starting to warm up to the idea of Brad Miller being here, for the right price of course.
I hate Brad Miller.
BUT if he’s in green I just might learn to love him. lol
here's a funny: On NESN or CSN tonight (I forget which)
there was a profile of Miller due to the Celtic’s interest. So naturally they showed about 5 minutes of Brad Miller highlights.
ALL the highlights were taken from the game (in Chicago) where the Bulls wore those green Bulls uniforms (The Celtics were in their whites). The green of those uniforms was practically identical to the normal Celtic green road unis. I did a real double-take for a second.
So that was Miller, already wearing Celtic green!
BOS only team Pierce talking to so far
Good!!! Let’s keep it this way! Good to hear they’re making progress, but I’m nervous and getting impatient already! I was hoping they’d get it done today. Don’t really care one way or the other on Brad Miller. Yeah, I dislike him right now, but I learned to cheer for Sheed so . . . Ray to Cleveland? Nah, I wouldn’t think so. Ray to anywhere? I hope not! Yep, I’m looking for one last hurrah.
An old slow white guy ......that's what we need?
I might root for him but until he signs – looking at him makes me ill……and I am an older slower white guy…..
Is it Soup Yet?
Miller in Houston too
Having dinner with Rick Adelman tonight. Miller played for Adelman in Sacto back in the day.
I'm actually rooting for a Lee, Morrow and some young stud shakeup--
—with Pierce back to LA and and Ray in NY or Miami or Cleveland. If that makes Doc want to pack up his toys and go home, so be it. I don’t want to have the oldest NBA roster in history with too many big, long, fat contracts attached for the next three years.
I would like to have Lee and Morrow in Green.
Brad miller would be a nice pick up too considering we need another BIG
Well the C's probably can not sign all these bigs....
but either Lee (which I prefer since he is younger) or Miller playing behind Perk and KG would be nice addition to the roster.
Id would not mind the C's obtaining David Lee....
He is young and plays bigger then his 6’9" build so could also fill in for spot duty at back up center.
He is a protypical hardworking player that would fit right into the Celtic system.
C’s would still need to acquire a low cost, long 7 "center though if they signed Lee for extra depth and size.
Yep. And my official undrafted rookie binky for 2010 is Artsiom--
whom I see as their hefty backup center by 2011-12.
Lets go after
David Lee, solid rebounder and good offense. Make it happen DA.
David Lee
He has proven in the last season that he is a starter. The questions are: Can the Celtics afford him and is he willing to be a backup?
ill put lee in front of perk
and once again sheeds contract 6.3 mill plus TA wud be enuff for david lee i think
But ...
Lee is undersize at center and Perk is a better defender. But I like having him on our side.

Even smaller
Our starting frontline of Perkins (6-10), Lee (6-9) and Pierce (6-8) doesn’t have the length or width to be physical.
now your talking
Brendon Haywood is the perfect guy….but outta our price range
