Bring Antoine Back! (I'm not delirious!)
2010-11 is shaping up to being one of the biggest pushes for a championship in Boston Celtics history. The new "Big Three" will make great opponents when we meet them in the playoffs next year. 'Old' Big Three vs. 'New Big Three.' Doc Rivers decided to come back for one more year. The core of our team is signed for next year. With an impending lockout, we have a great chance of taking the Eastern Confrence. Instead of walking through 82 regular season games, we as fans are looking at a reduced regular season schedule (which doesn't make me depressed). The owners wouldn't mind paying someone the minimum amount possible. You need people to play garbage minutes. Perhaps halfway through the season sign someone on the cheap. Someone who knows how to play professional basketball.
Why not sign Antoine?
Giving him the minimum veteran's s salary and using him as a garbage time player would be a great story, and great P.R. for the Celtics organization. Here you have an NBA former All-Star who not only lost every penny he had, but is in debt up to his 'wiggly' shoulders. Give the man who helped carry this team during the 'dark years' an opportunity to pick himself up and help pay some of his debts out. Could he be as bad as some of the bench players we have seen throughout the years? If you got into serious debt (albeit on a smaller scale), you would need to go to work everyday and still earn a living. Antoine would have a chance to suit up in the Green and White again and have one big chance at a championship ring.
Yes, this is a bleeding heart, sentimental idea, but is it really that crazy?
(I'm not offended if you think it's crazy, or make snarky responses....that's what makes the internet great, right?!
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

If your not delirious, then what are you smokin?
Fat toine, is now washed up and can never suite up for anyone except maybe the Heat as Lebron has suggested that even if Pat Riley suits up, all he has to do is toss the ball in the air and he will take care of the rest.
"No I’m not KG. Not at all, but I’m Big Baby Glen Davis from LSU, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I’m not the Big Ticket. I’m the Ticket Stub. Don’t count the Ticket Stub out. You might need the ticket to get in the game, but you leave with the ticket stub, because you’ll never forget this game."
Just seeing that Toine wiggle photo
made me a little queasy.
Two words: “Hell”, and “no”.
Toine is possibly heading towards jailtime
DA wouldn’t dare sign him.
But
If Danny does sign him for the vet min then he can go to Vegas a double it up and pay back the debt’s he owes. It’s a win win.

i still rock my toine jersey
.. but im pretty convinced now that he was always the one pulling the rug out from under us + didnt he get cut from his puerto rican team after putting up god awful shooting #’s
Antoine?? Your kidding?
The guy can’t finish inside, can’t make free throws, turns it over too much and if it’s a surprise to anyone that he just can shoot, then they must be living in a double-wide watching reruns of Bonanza…..
Tione! You must have lost your mind!!!
Hell let’s give Ainge a jersey and put him in the rotation…
Antoine, you just gotta : )
This is not a bad idea, I think he could get 10-12 points per game, a rebound or two, maybe an assist, not an expert or know what kind of stats danny is looking for, he would probably do a good job leading the bench, give RA & PP just a little more of a break, which mean I think he could do well for about 15-20 minutes. Have a feeling he would play well with Glen and Nate (Hopefully) Would come at a veteran mid level cost. Maybe gives PP a spark, something to smile about, that could transfer to the court. He could step in if injuries occur. Maybe make the reg season not so grueling minute wise, maybe that would make the team not just turn it on during the post season. #8 still available, doc knows him, he know celtics. If he does well that makes other teams decide weather to leave him open or guard him, always nice to make another team think about another person they have to guard.
Listen I would not do anymore than a one year contract, with a carrot stick motivating second year contract if he produced, just saying he would bring a good feeling story back to Boston if he has learned lessons, would also have to check out his legal issues, know a little about them not a lot, again not an expert. Wish him well.
