Cavs & Wolves Make A Trade

Some familiar faces involved too.

T'wolves trade Sessions to Cavs - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached agreement on a trade that sends Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Ramon Sessions and Ryan Hollins, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The Timberwolves are expected to waive West, who has only $500,000 of his $4.7 million salary guaranteed next season. The Cavs also will get a second-round pick in the trade.

I sense a "bring back Delonte" comment coming in 3,... 2,... 1,...

(soon to be followed by 3 or 4 "are you kidding me???" comments)

Yeah, sometimes you guys are that predictable, ...and I dig that about you.

Update: In related (and no-sarcastic) news, Johnny Flynn will be sidelined for 3 to 4 months for hip surgery.

Marbury’s stats werent great but he actually ran the point pretty well for someone who signed close to the deadline

Agreed...he handled the point decently

Even though Starbury shot .342% FG and .462% FT as a Celtic…he was Michael Jordan when compared to Telfair!

Bring back Delonte for the vet. min. Perfect fit. Love him on this veteran team.

by Rich on Jul 26, 2010 10:28 PM EDT reply actions

it is an interesting question

He is probably too much of a loose cannon, but on the court he would be a solid bench player

he’d fit in age wise and still is a loose cannon. ive always been a fan of his, he was the ultimate hustle player

I was a big Delonte fan, however his time has pasted. I’m not he can fit here any longer.

I also think it is quite interesting how our past players keep making stops through Minn.

Sheed contract for Delonte and Brewer, Webster, Beasley or Koufos???

by Rogerio on Jul 26, 2010 10:35 PM EDT reply actions

Webster!

Believe it or not, Martell webster is my favorite player. I watched Portland vs. LA game a couple months back, my god. He brings the mismatch, the Free throw and three point capability, and the athleticism like TA did. In my opinion, if i saw him wear Celtics Green, id forever be in debt of Danny Ainge :)

West or House?

We already have a midget backcourt as it is. But I’m curious given a choice, would you rather have West or House on the team for that 12th man spot….assuming of course both are amenable for the vet min.

DELONTE WESTTT

How else are we gonna kill Lebron and Wade? Plus getting the guy who allegedly slept with Lebron’s mom would prompt endless “WHO’S YOUR DADDY?” chants every time Delonte scores against Miami. You’re seriously telling me you’d pass that up?

good trade for teh cav's still dont know what minny is up too

surprised and a little upset kostas koufas wasnt included in the deal. i was hoping to see the young duo of koufas and hickson.

sessions and hollins add depth to the team that i hear will play a suns style fast tempo offense this year. it’s yet to be seen what tehy do with jamison who i think they trade (to indy for murphy’s expiring deal and hansbrough would be good for both teams. hustle players always help.) they could try to play jamison at SF too which would work in an uptempo offense.

they could still add a few players in FA too.

as for minny, they are going to release west from what i hear saving $4m. putting them around $33-35m with more coming off next year. dont know what the plan is for tehm, they have me confused.

not because his game is perfect but because he could fit well on a championship team. He’s actually a great compliment to our bench backcourt of Robinson and Daniels. Would love to see him back in green

Delonte

Can hit the 3, can play good d, can run the floor—if we can get him, grab him. No brainer.

by footey on Jul 26, 2010 11:12 PM EDT reply actions

And can only dribble the ball left!!!!!

it’s unbelievable to me that someone with this much ability can not dribble the basketball going to his right; combine this flaw with his mental health issues I can’t see Danny and Doc wanting him back.

by Little D on Jul 27, 2010 8:15 AM EDT up reply actions

This flaw in his game was acknowledged when we drafted him.

Why he hasn’t addressed the flaw himself after all these years in the league is beyond me. He was never on the list of my favorite Celtics and I was kind of glad when he was traded away.

He did hustle and gather many Tommy Points while he was a Celtic, but for some reason, that actually put me off of him. I thought that he would injure another player some day with the helter-skelter approach to the game.

Delonte is not only an awesome character and was loved during his time here in Boston, but he is a grossly underrated basketball player (I know, probably due to his personal problems), but the dude can ball.

by dpaps on Jul 26, 2010 11:28 PM EDT reply actions

Agreed

Don’t forget, before he was traded to seattle him and Rondo were swapping the starting PG role. There is no doubt now that rondo is the better player, but D-West is a really solid player, and I bet he would love to come back to Mass. He can play one or two, so the second unit would be really filled out.

It seems Telfair changes team every year. He got shipped around quite often.

by getthat18now on Jul 27, 2010 12:18 AM EDT reply actions

Not to Dalonte.

He might sleep with Rondo’s mother.

by celt4ever on Jul 27, 2010 12:24 AM EDT reply actions

maybe the celtics should be able to control delonte.

they handled Stephon Marbury and Rasheed Wallace, why not Delonte West? He was maybe a gun bringing dope but he’s good in the court, can give you quality minutes and he can hit shots. Maybe it will not hurt to bring him back for the vet. minimum. He, maybe can be controlled by KG and Doc I believe.

by Yoki R on Jul 27, 2010 4:43 AM EDT reply actions

Who needs a bit player that needs to be controlled? If he was a star with problems, sure,

but he’s not and therefore not worth the trouble. We don’t need him anyway, we need a big and a sf. Stop with all the nonsense! Delonte DOES NOT FIT A NEED.

by Bankshot on Jul 27, 2010 6:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Controlled by KG and Doc?

he’s under control as long as he takes his medication. But that doesn’t help him dribble right, maybe there is a med for dribbling right.

by Little D on Jul 27, 2010 8:23 AM EDT up reply actions

Why, when addressing adding a player to the roster that has a sketchy background,

do people go to the “he can be controlled by KG, etc.” rational?

How exactly was Sheed handled or controlled? Did he modify his behavior on the court and reduce his technical fouls? No, he continued to rack them up so that he was on the verge of a game suspension at the end of the season.

How exactly was Marbury handled or controlled? When he was all but given a spot on the roster for the next year, he went all crazy with the 24-7 video thing. He became a PR nightmare for the team and they removed the offer later that summer.

When a player has “issues”, just expect them to crop up at the most inopportune times. Then you will not be so disappointed when the trend continues.
