What about Josh Cildress?

Josh Childress was a very good sixth man for the Hawks before they tried to low ball him and he went to Greece. Apparently he played great over there. He wants back in... Perfect timing with the cba on the horizon and the grand free agent market. I remember him as a good defender and hustle guy who can finish. Any thoughts on chasing him or why there isn't more interest in him around the league? I realize our most pressing need is a big but he could give us a different look backing up Ray or Paul.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Josh Childress would be an excellent pick up for the C’s he could possibly end up being a starter
Josh is a very good player with a high basketball IQ

but he falls into the list of players who might get paid when either miami, new york, chicago, la clippers and hawks dont get lebron, wade, bosh, amare, joe johnson etc.. so why would he take less here then to cash in there?

No

Childress is a combination of Rondo and Wade. He’s good at being PG, he’s really good, like Rondo, but he wants to do everything by himself. He’s that selfish.
In the semi-finals of this year’s Euroleague, Childress’ team, Olympiakos, beat Partizan because Childress scored an amazing dunk in the last second of the game to tie up the score. He picked up a wild three point shot and slammed it. But after the game, they asked him if it was the idea of the play, and he replied with: “No, hell no, I wanted to shoot that three.”
The best shooter of his team missed, and he wanted to shoot it? We already have Bradley and Rondo. If we need a PG from Europe, then go for Bo McCalebb. That guy’s ready to go back to NBA and he’s still young.

And another thing

He’s the highest paid basketball player in Europe. 1. I doubt they’d let him go before winning Euroleague and 2. I doubt he’ll leave before the team send him away.

Uh...Childress is not a PG...

He’s a SG/SF….

Don’t know about the other comments, but hey, at the highest levels, EVERYONE should WANT to take that shot. So the context matters. Was he laughing when he said that (which would be fine)? Was he angry (which would not)?

You can’t tell just by the words…

Eh ok...

I don’t know whether he laughed, I think he was serious about it. Details: the opposing team’s defense was that good that they made Barcelona’s buzzerbeater a brick, although it was like 6 feet distance from the basket. Barcelona’s a much more better team than Olympiakos, so you can imagine what they did here. They were lucky to get to shoot the three, and Childress should have been happy to have had made that shot as there was a Serbian Yao Ming standing next to him.
As for SG… Yah, that’s right. Except their PG just hands the ball to Josh and he does whatever he wants to. Imagine if Perkins gives the ball to Rondo, and instead of pulling it down to the opposite paint, he gives it to a faster and smaller version of Garnett with hair (lots of it) and runs forward. (of course, not always, don’t flame me… he’s just a SG who likes being play-maker)
However, my point is – he’s too selfish for us. I mean if we really need players like him, then look at Croatian club called Cibona. They have two players who combine 60 points in a game, while the rest of the players together pull out 5 points.

I believe one of the issues that drove Childress to Europe was that he was a RESTRICTED free agent. He remains a restricted free agent under the control of the Atlanta Hawks until he accepts the qualifying offer and plays one season. Then he will become an unrestricted free agent. The Hawks can match any offer and would, right up to the full MLE. There’s a couple more options, but he’s pretty much stuck.

The Hawks could extend his contract or include him in a sign-and-trade with another team. With either of those options, he will probably get more than a 20% raise. That will bring the BYC rules into play, which makes the sign-and-trade transaction even harder to pull off.

I believe Childress would make a better choice for a backup for Pierce and/or Ray than Marquis and maybe even Tony. Ever since Posey left, I thought Childress would be a good fit in that role.
