Rumor: LeBron to the Knicks?
So the rumor is now that media darling LBJ will film his gripping 1-hour special, The Decision, from a studio in Greenwich, CT.
Why is this important...well, there is a studio 5 minutes from Westchester county airport (Blue Sky Studios) that would be very convenient, and oh is located maybe 10 minutes from the Knicks practice facility in NY.
Update from Windhorst's twitter: PDcavsinsider: CNBC reports MSG (Knicks parent) stock futures way up today. Trading of it has tripled.
Also, Blakely, Jared Dudley and OchoIdiot have all tweeted similar sentiments about LBJ and NYK.
This is somewhat surprising.....

sounds about right to me
i figured this will be where lebron ended up and the division just got alot tougher
Unless the Knicks add a few more parts to the puzzle, this will not change the balance of power in the East. Lebron and Amare. Who else? Although the Cavs folded in the playoffs two years in a row, they had the best regular season record during those years. Many touted them as the champs in waiting. If LeBron could not win a ring with that group, how is he going to win in NY?
This is about the LeBron brand and the most visible city in the world. If he wanted to win rings, then he would have went to Miami with Wade and Bosh. I guess we wait for the LeBron special tomorrow night to confirm or deny, but I say no big deal.

And the Fakers
coast to the finals again next year. Awesome.
Why can’t this loser go out West to muck that all up? Has OKC done anything yet in FA – can they do anything to get better?
Good points JPV, Don’t fear the Knicks if he ends up there. Chicago is much much much worse. And I don’t even wanna think about a Miami “superteam”. All in all if these 3 fall where they a rumored to go I think we dogged a couple of bullets for next year.
Can all this “superstar” crap end so we can sign some FAs? I wanna know what kind of bench we’ll have next year (and starting center for that matter)! Gotta resign Ray Ray as well.
About Lebron going out west and getting in the way of Laker steamrolling to finals
I don’t think David Stern would like that.

or Chicago
I agree. If he went to Miami (though I’m not sure how that fits cap wise with both Bosh and Wade going there) or Chicago (even without those guys) that would be a competition move.
Going to NY? They need a lot more than just LBJ & Amare to be a contender.
All signs appear to point
to lebron being a knick next year.
It will make our division a bit tougher next year. But i think we dodged two bullet by;
A. Not having the super team in chicago work out
B. Not having the super team in miami work out
Both of our new competitors, new york and miami are flawed once you get passed the big two’s for their respective teams, and you got to think it will take a year or so to develop a core.
In other news, does this put the eastern conference finally past the western conference as the dominant conference? W.C. lost the suns as a competitor this year, and the spurs are almost entirely out of the running. The e.c. now has the solid core of Celtics, Heat, Knicks, Magic, and Hawks…… can’t say i’m happy about it.
Well, the Cavs will be weaker.
As will Toronto. And Philadelphia is …. ugh.
On the other hand the Bucks should be stronger, with Bogut back, without doing anything much in the off-season.
And the Wizards will at least probably win a few more games.
The Bulls …. i’m not sure yet how they’ll shape up if LBJ doesn’t go there. Probably still a bit tougher.
Chicago would be contender immediately if bron went there, Miami would not. That roster just does not look quite right.

he's going to the knicks -
- even if his taxes will be much, much higher – in the end, he’ll make more MONEY from endorsements, and that’s clearly all Lebron cares about -
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk
He has two announcements - he got his hair braided and his chose a new team...here he is in the studio preparing for the interview!!!
Is it Soup Yet?
Honestly, where do you come up with this stuff? Priceless….

Probably has a ring around his nose.
New York is the last place the messiah would go to. Between state income tax and the various only-in-New York taxes his net paycheck on anything would be about 25% less than it would be anywhere else.
by Finkelskyhook on Jul 7, 2010 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions
but his local market endorsement opportunities
probably dwarf that. His ability to make money outside of basketball in NY is huge.
The championshipless for life messiah has...
Been so brilliantly marketed that it really doesn’t matter where he lands.
The messiah will be the most celebrated athlete to never win anything in sport’s history

The fact that ESPN isn't reporting this rumor
adds the most legitimacy in my opinion. They’re desperately trying to keep this a surprise.
I hope so man...
I’d love to actually see a competitive rivalry with the Celts and Knicks.
KEEP LEE!!!
and yes,
the Knicks have more then just Amare. Your former Bill Walker is pretty good believe it or not. Gallinari and Wilson Chandler are pretty good as well. Toney Douglas is quite good as well (and I’m saying “good” meaning they showed potential last year, not they are “good” already)
They’d have to do some filling in, but a Kurt THomas here, a Jason Williams (white Chocolate JWILL) and they have a solid club.
KEEP LEE!!!
T-mac then miraculously rejuvenates himself over the course of the summer, stays with the Knicks and suddenly you got a big three there as well...
T-mac can still ball IMO and would actually need a Lebron type player to prosper, he is no alpha dog anymore but will endure a lot better if he ain’t the focus on a team..Kinda like Ron Artest to Kobe.
"No I’m not KG. Not at all, but I’m Big Baby Glen Davis from LSU, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I’m not the Big Ticket. I’m the Ticket Stub. Don’t count the Ticket Stub out. You might need the ticket to get in the game, but you leave with the ticket stub, because you’ll never forget this game."
LOL LOL LOL
You’re comparing a tanker like O’Grady to Artest?
I despise Artest. But at least Artest brings it most of the time.

I'd love it if O'Grady and the messiah ended up on the same team.
Throw in Jermaine O’Neal too.

Can we then trade for AV from the Cavs if Lebron bolts...
he’s got an awful contract for them for a hustle player, something the C’s might be able to use with Perk out…No one likes AV on these boards including me, which tells you a lot how he works his butt off in getting under your skin and all..I would love AV to be on our team.

I think hes gonna go to the Nets
NJ is pretty close to CT too…
Forget the doubters, Michael Beasley would look awfully good in green.

FYI
I have a friend who works for MSG he’s been told that Friday morning there is a company meeting and there is a big announcement.
he isn't going to the Knicks
this is obviously being put out there to make sure the Knick fan base and the New York market stays interested. It is all a joke and i am even angry at myself for responding to this. this guy is just the biggest example yet of an attention whore. he is a great basketball player, but he is more concerned with the attention. kevin durant is not the player lebron is (yet), but look at how he handled his contract situation. lebron has cared more about this media circus than he did about winning, he has put more effort into crafting this media persona than he did in game five or six against the celtics. the man is a fraud – he wants to be an all-time great, yet doesn’t want to put the work in. he is an amazing talent, but 7 years into his career he still lacks that understanding of what it takes to take his game to the level where he thinks it belongs. other than improving his outside shot a little, wht area of his game has improved during his career? it hasn’t. it is a little frightening to think how good he could be, but right now, he isn’t getting everything out of his talent, and that appears fine with him. make your money lebron, get your attention, but unless you realize what it really takes to be an all-time great, you will continue to fall short.
My take:
If he goes to the….
Nets – He has a man crush on Jay Z because there isn’t much talent there
Knicks – His ego is bigger than we thought
Miami – He wants to win really bad (thats why he won’t go there)
Cleveland – If he stays then he is really insecure and just wants to be loved.
Brooke Lopez is def a talented big man
And Devin Harris was an all-star. So to say they don’t have anything there is a tad uninformed.
If he stays in Cleveland, it’ll be an amazing show of loyalty IMO… But loyalty won’t get you rings, just ask KG.
Forget the doubters, Michael Beasley would look awfully good in green.

My bad...
I guess thats why they won 12 games last year.
by Steal by Bird on Jul 7, 2010 4:47 PM EDT up reply actions
they also had a coaching shake up and unclear ownership
If talent was all that factored into wins then we shouldve won more than 50 games & been the #1 seed last season and Lebron would have a championship by now.
At the end of the day, you still have to put it all together: the Nets now have a proven coach and a owner with deep pockets just begging to make bold moves.
I’m not gonna be naïve enough to count them out of anything just yet
Forget the doubters, Michael Beasley would look awfully good in green.

I like 2,3, and 4, but Lopez is just as mush of a talent as Amare.
And they have Harris, who do the Knicks have talent wise?
Nets
I think Lebron wants Jay Z to be his point guard. Whatever it takes to boost the “Lebron brand”.
They will be good.
You got the 2 most athletic guys in the league. Amare at PF, and Lebron at SF and Lee at Center. Just run hard and pound the boards vigourously and They will have a huge turnaround.
Lebron announcement between 9-915pm Thurs night per ESPN
According to ESPN via the Sports Hub Felger and Maz show. ESPN is not waiting to make the announcement at 955pm, 945pm or even 935pm. Nope they are not going to milk it anymore than they already have.
They will annouce it in the opening minutes of the program.
I am assuming that this will mean Lebron is going to spend the rest of the show answering questions.
This further makes me believe it is not Cleveland…do to the fact that if Lebron was staying there would not be that many questions to ask.
maybe also broadcasting from msg
here’s a longshot idea…rather than answering questions after the announcement, maybe they run a video while lbj hops in a chopper, changes uniforms, and they cut back to him live on the floor of madison square garden. I wouldn’t be surprised.
I think Bosh/Wade
may push him to either Nets (best team to compete with) or Knicks (biggest star regardless of what they do in Miami.)
If he plays in the Pick and Role triple threat with Amare – he can score a lot of points. They’ll need guards that can defend and shoot threes, and they will need a center that can defend. Probably takes them two years to have that roster humming.
With the nets they have Lopez, Favors, Lebron, Lee, Harris… not a bad starting five, and I think they’d have money to bring in one more guy. They could also trade Favors, Lee, Harris to get a better spread and AFAIK have all their picks moving forward.
Oops forgot Chicago
But I think that’s not as good as a fit – Rose and Lebron are too similar, issues with how they’d fill out the roster, Deng and Lebron play same spot, etc. (Unless they ran a run and gun offense Rose, Ray Allen, Deng, Lebron, Noah?)
Drama Queen
Sick of Lebron. This has become absolutely ridiculous. Wherever he winds up, I hope his team stinks. Tired of his attention hog cohorts too – Wade and Bosh. Enough already.
if lebron signs with the knicks
he’l forever be branded as just being in it for the cash. I mean, the knicks presentation amounted to “we’l make you a billionare”.
If he wants to be on the best team he signs on miami (or maybe chicago).
If he wants to be loyal to the end he signs with cleveland (but we pretty much already know loyalties arent his focus).
But if money is his priority, he signs with the knicks, who offer the best marketing opportunities. Something tells me if he does he’ll be vilified in cleveland.
and
what i mean is, if he signs with miami, i think to a certain extent cleveland fans wont hold it against him. Miami got the best players out of free agency, if lebron wants to go where he has the best chances to win who can really blame him. BUuuut, if he goes to new york because he’l sell more shoes and whatever products he may market, thatl sting so much more.

added $80m to the market value today
CT not a factor
He is in CT as Carmelo getting married near there on Friday .. it’s not a clue
Not that I care where he goes .. when he shows the mental power to win when it counts he becomes a big deal, at the moment no biggie looking great in regular season
I say ... go for the billion
Folks, I don’t see LeBron as a hedge fund genius so his best chance at the billion dollars is to hit the NY market for all that its worth. Really, in five years, he’ll be a forgotten entity, a type of Dominique Wilkens of his time period, a prolific scorer who could never seal the deal.
With the above in mind, milk the media capital and then, go on the Bob MacAdoo trail and get a ring or two, riding the pine, as a sixth or seventh man.
And really, it doesn’t matter but for an athlete, youth is the only chance at making the big dollars. The rings are there to prevent oneself from being on that infamous list with Baylor, Barkley, Ewing, K. Malone, Maravich, and Stockton. But guess what? … Greg Kite’s got 2 and I don’t see anyone worrying about his impact on the league. The fact is that the Celtics paid him rookie’s wages for 4 years & he did nothing but got to retire with some jewelry.
Really?
Why is everyone so convinced he can’t win a ring? Jordan also didn’t win right away. (Not that he’s as good).

i hope he stays in cleveland
so the people over there would shut up about their unfortunate sports history
sick of this whole lbj crap
this is exactly what he and his team wanted. people all over the world, all over the internet talking and debating about it. lets just delete all posts related to that from this blog and just ignore whatever he decides to do. whatever little semblance of respect i had for him has been sucked out finally by his acts this summer.
Destination: disaster
The Knicks are a terrible franchise. If the team were located in any other city, it would have a horrible reputation. Think about this: The Knicks have been around for 64 years and have 2 championships to show for it. The last was 37 years ago! Seriously, they are a terrible franchise.
Have fun, Bron. Can’t wait to hear all the excuses when Amare gets injured again.
Amare
Amare keeps talking about “getting other players” and “the new guys that’re coming”
Does that mean Lebron!?
