KG and Ray Allen were traded for not signed off free agency. So that has different implications on how the heat can go after players for the rest of free agency. With them signing the three max contracts you are holding out hope that others will want to join the circus in Miami. Who will realistically want to play 10 mins of spot up duty behind Wade and Lebron in their primes? They have their work most cut out for them with Bigs with a lot of money still being able to float around and not that much talent left out there to pick up.
More after the jumpWhen the Big 3 was brought into Boston, it was Pierce’s team. Lebron and Bosh will have to remember that. I know Bosh can handle being a sidekick, but Lebron? Only time will really tell in that aspect.
Boston big three had a promising center already in position that had developed for 5 years and Rondo showed a lot of promise and potential as a facilitator. The team also had GREAT DEFENSIVE players, with Ray Allen being their only weakness at points, BUT he fit into the scheme and played his ROLE.
Boston had the top defensive big man in the game, one of the top defensive point guards, Pierce was underrated defensively, Posey was a smart pick up. My question is how will Chalmers respond? Can he play any defense? From what I saw this year and against Boston he could not. There is no center for the team right now, and chances are Haslem will come back. The thing is BOSH DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY CENTER.
They sent away Beasley for a second round draft pick just to make this happen. This might be Beasley’s blessing in disguise to get away from all the temptations Miami has to offer and really become part of a good foundation being laid down in Minnesota. Miami received nothing in return.
The Heat are rolling the dice with their draft night selections. They picked up Butler who tore his ACL, and won’t be back anytime soon. Pittman is an overweight rookie that might be thrown into a lot of minutes(endurance). The one smart pick up was Varnado. He is a great defensive threat, but will that translate from college to NBA? We will see what else they do in free agency, but I don’t see much more talent being brought in on the cheap. Other teams will now focus on what pieces Miami want so they can lure those players away from going their with money. A lot of money still out there to be thrown at people.
