Gotta believe MIA will make a run at Posey if (when) he is bought out. Versatile, well liked and able to contribute even at his age. Celtics will likely inquire about Posey for their final roster spot, too. Good fit there as well.
Update: James Posey's agent, Mark Bartelstein, tells SI.com that Posey will not seek a buyout from the Pacers.

Heat still has roster spots left?
I really hope that if Posey gets bought out, that he comes back to the C’s. He is the best option available right now and already knows our system + needless to say that he fits perfectly into that missing piece of the puzzle that we are looking for.
And I hope he does NOT go to Heat.
You have that Larry Bird - DA connection in the background
So Pacers will buyout Posey and him going to the C’s!! ha! That will end all this Rudy, Delonte, Larry Hughes, Battier talk!!
Sounds good to me
Don’t know exactly how this will work. Unless Indy gets significant savings, they might as well hold on to him. And I’m not sure Posey will bite on a losing two much of what is guaranteed to him: he already has two rings, so he isn’t exactly P.J. Brown chasing that elusive ring.
Still, if he gets bought out, we should sign him. He’d make a great backup for PP.
Pose
would never choose MIA over BOS.
Well, unless MIA threw some ridiculous money at him.
Miami can't throw anymore money than we can out there
so that’s not really an issue. He won a championship in Miami and most people have them pegged as the favorites this year. I’m not sure if anybody knows how the nasty the negotiations got when DA refused to add the additional years to his contract before he signed with NO. I see no reason why it’d be a no-brainer for him to sign here other than Miami, but I’d like to see him back at the vet min. I hated all the talk about trading back for him, because he would just come with the same awful contract that we weren’t willing to sign in the first place. He fits the bill of a defensive wing now that TA is gone, however he really has lost a step from ’08. With Quis and Wafer in the mix, hopefully he could still be effective in limited minutes and to close out tight games.
Well from Posey's angle the question is this:
Who would you rather defend next year, Pierce or LeBron?
Nah, Posey
Will have much better help D waiting for when Lebron blows by him. You got the Big Leftover and Big Ticket waiting for his ass.
for vet min
not a bad pick up. for a bigger deal, no thanks—-not that we can offer more
Ohh and they have house too he’d be rotting on their bench
We has to come to boston if this report is true

No way Posey risks any money. This was his first big payday.
I only see him giving up money equal to the vet min (for a single season), since he will likely get picked up by a team with cap limitations. If he feels comfortable that he will be able to get a contract next season, he might give up 2 years worth of the vet min.
I see us having a good chance to get him if there is the very unlikely buyout.
Yeah it’s gonna come down to us and miami. It wouldn’t surprise me if he went to miami because of their youth but will see if DA can pull something off

Let's say
We do get him back to the celtics. He’s gonna have to wear 42. Why because that’s the number he wear in miami. And plus TA gone so it should be his second chance with us.

Shaq even said
When posey played for Miami, the green mile said he was the difference maker for that 06 Miami team. But then again he did it with us in 08. Please let’s pick him up!

Can We Get Rudy Instead
I’d rather let him go to miami and trade for rudy if we could. Although Posey would make a good defensive replacement for TA. I think rudy could start at the 3 for us when paul retires, plus he’s a flat out scorer who would bring an even bigger spark of the bench with nate.

I have a hhard time...
believing that Posey will be bought out.
not rudy instead of Posey please
Posey is a better defender Rudy has no D. Posey is our best option at this point.Thats my opinion.Am I not right about Rudy and his inability to defend?I think I am.
As far as the heat go down with the King still like D wade. Bosh isnt a good enough defender to help as much as the heat fans think, the stats show it.GO CELTICS cant wait till October 26th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exactly he’s an underrated defender. I would rather have a 25 year old than someone whose 33. We need to start finding players who can start after the big 3. Plus who knows what posey has left, he’s been playing in meaningless games the last two seasons.

Would Posey really choose Miami over Boston?
I seem to remember there being somewhat of a rift with Riley when Posey left Miami. I think Riley accused him and Antoine of being out of shape and he didn’t re-sign Posey. Something about their body fat.

Heat coach Pat Riley, who also announced Wednesday that he was taking a medical leave of absence, said Walker and Posey may be back as soon as Friday in Phoenix — but could face suspension by Jan. 15 if the undisclosed goal is not met.
“There’s been an ongoing conditioning goal that our team has had to make since the summer. … January was the deadline, they haven’t made it, and they knew this was going to happen if they didn’t make it,” Riley said. “By the way, both of them are in the best condition of their lives. They’re very close. But a deadline is a deadline.”
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Miami forward James Posey played in the Heat’s 92-82 loss to Charlotte Tuesday night, one day after he was arrested and charged with DUI in Miami Beach.
Heat coach Pat Riley said after gathering facts on the incident, he decided to let the case go through the legal system before handing down any suspension.
“Based on how all the facts came back to us, our conversations with the league and NBA security, we’ll support our player until there’s due process,” Riley said. “That’s what this is about.”
But Riley was also critical of Posey for the late-night arrest after a disappointing loss to the Bobcats and hours before a morning practice.
“I don’t condone at all being out at 4:30 in the morning or whatever it was, and you’ve got a practice at 10. That’s unprofessional,” Riley said. “I think I take on the pain of all my players, because when we lose, I go home and I don’t sleep.”
Posey declined to discuss the incident after the game, but confirmed he had a meeting with Riley.
“I dealt with the people I needed to, which were my family and the Heat organization,” Posey said. “That’s just my approach to it. I’m still going to go out there and play hard.”
Posey, who was released from jail in Miami-Dade County on Monday afternoon after posting $1,000 bond, issued an apology through the team Monday night, yet also denied the charge.
“Please know that I was neither intoxicated nor was I driving at the time,” Posey said.
