What is the latest news on another signing?.
I have been wondering does anybody have any new news or something on signing another shooter?. I haven't seen any movement from danny aige or any news on any rumors on signing another shooter. Also whats is the latest news with rudy fernandez since the bulls still havent signed him. I think we really do need another shooter to help out either ray or paul because from last season marquis daniels really did not do alot we lost tony allen and that really hurts us.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

i think DA is waiting to see what happens with rudy before anything else if not i think larry is coming to the bean
for the ?
Yes and no Daniels was good and could score and played decent defense before his injury after he wast the same but i think this year he will come back to that form that he was at the begging of last season. I also think he is not a good enough defend guys like kobe or lebron cause face it pierce is gettig older and cannot play the whole game anymore and these young guys in there prime can lebron wade melo and even kobe still can. If we cant get Rudy F we need to get a long lock down defender to go i for pierce cause we are weak at the 3 spot we need more depth there and i think rudy is more of a 2 and will replace ray.
Before the voting.....
SOMEONE NEEDS TO DEFINE WHAT MARQUIS’ JOB IS!!!!!
Marquis’ expectations should be very low if the answer is “yes” for him doing his job…..
If we expect him to defend incredible playmakers when Pierce sits in the regualr season and playoffs…… THEN THE ANSWER IS NO!!!!
Marquis is at best an average player… on both ends….. we need an above average defender to accomplish the JOB we need Marquis to handle!!!!
Marquis is not an upgrade from Tony Allen!!!
Integrity Is The Highest Ground To Which We Can Aspire
marquis is actually an amazing defender, but his offense is average

Quis is good enough but...
his injury thing is what’s bothering me. That’s why I think another signing, a big enough backup SF is needed. If the C’s could get another solid SF to backup PP then it gives Doc another matchup weapon he could use with Wafer, Quis and “insert name”.
Having Daniels plus another wing would be good. Just think about it.
If Doc needs a shooter or scorer in the SG spot, bring in VOn.
If Celtics is leading and they need to stop opponent SG, bring in Quis.
Back up SF to defend strong or tall SF’s like LeBron, Melo, Durant. Quis and/or Von for smaller or faster SF’s like Grant Hill, Ariza, Artest.
Von and Quis for faster tempo, Signed SF and Quis for big lineup on defense, Von and SF for scoring.
Gives additional options for matchups plus, insurance in case Quis gets hurt again.
Well if MArquis stays healthy i think he will be able to defend Lebron. T A did and hes like 2 inches smaller than Quis. But it would be nice to have another SF defender. But its not looking like we can get one who has atleast 3-5 years of expierience. Do you know of any SF defenders we can get?

there are some.
we go back to the list of names, i’ll try to sort it out (in my opinion) as safe picks and risk vs reward picks.
Safe Picks:
Jarvis Hayes
Ime Udoka (my pick, though only 6’6’’, he defends really well)
Rodney Carney
Risk vs Reward picks
Bobby Simmons (only 6’6’’ but can score given some space)
Sasha Pavlovic (good shooter but a big ? on defense)
Adam Morrison (should I explain why his a risk?)
Jonathan Bender (7’0’’ SF, can shoot and score but injury prone and also a ? on defense. But think of this froncourt as the 2nd unit, Oneal, Oneal, Bender, 3 long guys, try to rebound now)
Joe Alexander (young, athletic and uh… atheltic, and uhhhmmmmm athletic)
choose your pick,
Great Defense but can't shoot
I don’t know if it was thethumb but I remember think Marquis cannot shoot the ball. He is great going to the hole but he can’t hit a 15-20 footer. I think he is an upgrade over Tony Allen. Tony was insane and was totally hot and cold, the Celtics know what they are going to get out of Marquis and he does play great defense.
I want them to go after Radney Carney
He’s a free agent wing, plays both the sf and sg, good shooter, has three point range, very athletic, spectacular dunker, active defender, and has a great attitude.
Something tells me...
If all those things were really true, the guy wouldn’t be a free agent this late in the process.
Perhaps Iverson didn't like him as much?
From the videos, he looks pretty good…
Irresponsible I stand...
I hear about people always saying “we need someone who can guard players like LeBron, Kobe, Durant, Melo,” etc etc…
Just out of curiosity, what player are people thinking of when it comes to someone who can do that? Cause last I checked, there are VERY few players in the league who are capable of guarding those guys. Also, I wouldn’t put my money on Rudy Fernandez or Delonte West being one of those guys.

not really "guard" LeBron
just someone who’s big enough and fast enough that he can’t be outran or overpowered or just shoot in their face by LeBron, Melo, Kevin Durant and those big scoring SF’s. The thing is Paul Pierce can handle them but not for long periods. We only have Quis to backup Pierce and defend those names while Pierce is taking a breather. Quis is good defensively but WILL BE overpowered by Melo or LeBron any day.
We just need someone who has some size (about 6-7 to 6-8) preferably and a bit of bulk that he can go shoulder to shoulder with power SF’s and give Pierce the rest he need.
my opinion.
i backpedal.
if the C’s can’t find a big defending SF then just load up with more firepower. Danny please get Rudy now…
hmmm......
“Loading up on more firepower” wont cut it. We have firepower. We need a lock down defender a guy that can shave off 6-8 points when he is on the floor, I don’t know if Quisy can do this, but if the team’s hat hanger is going to change to “more firepower” and just out score everybody then we might as well have not signed anyone this year and started to rebuild now. We will not will banner 18 on offense, we will never be able to out score Miami, or teams like Phoenix or even the Knicks. We can only win by disruption and limited points and taking advantage of the other teams mistakes, which we can force with good D. While I welcome Rudy, he will not be the answer I think we need.
well yes of course.
I’m just saying if the we can’t find one, the next available thing is counter it by having more options on offense. I’m all into the lock down defense guy but all we have is a vet. minimum offer and the list of names are far less impressive.
I just thought it’ll be the Plan B. If we can’t find someone who can stop scorers, get a a player who can go toe to toe with the scoring.
But if there will be on lockdown defender, of course it’ll be the better choice.
probably a whack of an idea but.
Any one of you guys heard of Landry Fields? He is a 2nd round pick of New York last draft.
What of a trade idea with Semih + 2nd round (maybe plus cash too?) to the Knicks for sign and trade Landry (he’s not yet signed).
He’s 6’7’’ 215. Able to play 3 positions. A good shooter, athletic, can finish and a decent defender. He can be the insurance wing man the C’s are looking for, for very cheap (maybe a rookie minimum).
He showed some solid play in the summer league and has led the summer league Knicks team in scoring a couple of times. Knicks fans actually adored him playing.
Plus the Knicks have lost their drafted big man Jerome Jordan who decided to play in Serbia, maybe they can replace him with Semih which gives the trade a little sense.
Both Semih and Landry are unproven yet aside from their summer league stints. But Fields will comes in and plays a position which the C’s need right now, where as Semih would, behind 4 (5 when Perk returns) big men, only get garbage time minutes. Plus he got the size, decency in defense and ability to score, and will come in very cheap (i dont know how much a minimum rookie contract is but I know basketball wise it’s cheap).
New York hasn’t signed him yet. Whattya guys think?
my 2 cents.
Hey, Landry Fields! He led the Pac-10 in scoring last year...
However, the Stanford program is suspect, I’m sad to say. It’s hard to evaluate the quality of a player who led his league in scoring while playing for a mediocre team.
His work ethic and attitude are exceptional, though. That’s the kind of players Stanford attracts. Now we need to find some that ALSO have talent…

out of topic...
heard that the recruiting class of the Cardinal was pretty good. You excited for the next season?
It was rated as one of the top in the Pac-10...
That’s not the same as being the top of the ACC, but we’ve had a few down years, so I’ll take it. I can’t wait to see Dwight Powell, a five-star power forward.
On the other hand, it kinda burns me to see Miles Plumlee (Duke) on the video where he dunks over his brother. He signed with Stanford out of high school, and the left for Duke when Trent Johnson left. My guess is that if we had gotten him, we would have gotten his brother, too.

new to Stanford Basketball...
didn’t even know the Plumlees’s considered Stanford. But they got Dwight Powell anyway. I know guy who works in Stanford Basketball (from work, here in Palo Alto) and he said the recruiting class only looks good on paper, so they don’t expect anything. Although he’s convinced that Powell will take the program to a new level, he also said Powell had to put on a few pounds though.
I’m wondering if they can get another twin big man sensation like the Collins or the Lopez twins. They look pretty good at it.
