Latest on Rudy Fernandez
The Celtics offered their first round pick in next year's draft but they aren't the only ones after Rudy and it remains to be seen what the Blazers are willing to do after his recent comments.

Why in the h e double toothpicks would you trade Wilson Chandler for Rudy fernandez?
Looks like the Rudy whine is just posturing.
Doesn’t sound like we are the frontrunner here.

Oh come on
We offered a first round pick? That’s it? I thought Marquis will be included at least! Or Nate! Or Bradley and Harangody or Erden! What the hell… Seems as Danny just read our wishes here and decided to make us happy and try getting Fernandez (and making an offer which everyone knows will be refused).
Irresponsible I stand...
Quisy can't be traded until December
But would love to get rid of erden.

If
The whole rudy whiny demand thing was posturing to get a trdae pushed thru on rudys part, then Danny knows about it (hell it could have been his idea) and I would still make an offer.
If not then I’d forget about him and sign delonte

i think we don't need him anymore...
We already have Von Wafer who is probably a notch less better than Rudy but showed he can score as Rudy does. Add to the fact that he’s (Von) playing to prove himself to be worthy in the NBA again, i think he will be focused to be better this season.
C’s should just really look for a Pierce back-up plan. Rudy will be a great pickup, if we did not have Von Wafer. In fact I thought he was worth a 1st draft pick when rumors of him going to Boston starts circling. But he’s not needed anymore, C’s should just move on and focus on either getting another wing or make ’Gody fast enough to play SF.
What exactly is the process to making a man faster?

The Speed Force maybe?
Yeah “fast” did not really said what I meant there, my bad. What I really meant by “make him fast enough” is improve his mobility.
We saw how tough and athletic he is back in Notre Dame. But if the C’s put him against NBA PF’s he’s way undersized (6’7’’ or 6’8’’). If C’s put him against SF he’ll be “slow”.
But with better mobility he can stay UP FRONT on his man whether it’s LeBrick or Carmelo or Kevin Durant or Luol Deng.
If the Celtics emphasize training on his lateral movements, foot work, the center of gravity stuff, give him insights on better court awareness (you know, like going moving away from screens instead of going through it on off ball picks) he maybe can stay in front of his man. And with his toughness and athleticism, we know he can’t be outmuscled or outjumped either.
That’s actually what I meant. Kinda like Bruce Bowen. Years ago, he wasn’t as fast compare to the players he guarded (younger Kobe, Iverson, RAY ALLEN, McGrady) but (aside from being dirty of course, ha ha) he has good footwork, court awareness to know where to go, and good lateral movements he managed to stay up front and held these “I gotta do a lot more than the usual” mode all the time.
I'm actually backpedalling on "No on Rudy".
coz I realized how much lift he’ll bring the second unit. And be part of the core with Rondo, BBD and Perk after the Big – 3 era.
Proven scorer given his confidence back, athletic and has the playmaker mentality and at only 25 he’ll be a good piece headed into the post Big 3
For now, he can be one of Doc’s option on the 2nd unit. With Rudy in the mix, Doc can make matchups problems, give and offensive boost and give more time for Pierce and Allen to rest.
Celtics can go 12 man deep with Quis, Wafer, Rudy (maybe ’Gody too) in the 2-3 spot. And Doc will have an answer to any match-ups he will se against the other team. I was trying to imagine this 2nd unit with Nate, Shaq and BBD having the first 3 spots. Doc can do some of this…
Need shooters, create space for big men? Von and Rudy
Need slahers against a slower 2nd unit? Von/Rudy and Quis
Need to be fast? Von and Rudy/Quis
Need to be tall, rebound and defend? Quis and ‘Gody
Need to exploit Nate’s offense? Rudy (as a playmaker)
will give the C’s 2nd unit so many options. If C’s cant find an SF who can make the 2nd unit one defensive wall, why not just counter with much more added firepower.
So I say yes now for Rudy.
Problem is, the playing time he so dearly wants. But I think if DA can manage to convince RUdy that after two years he’ll get the playing time he seeks, all by winning 2 championship rings while waiting for it. He’ll probably like being traded to Boston.
my opinion.
