KG is #8

Dwyer keeps counting down the rankings and the Celtics keep popping up in the top 10.

Ranking the power forwards, 10 through 1 - Ball Don't Lie - NBA  - Yahoo! Sports

Kevin Garnett is just about the best power forward I've ever seen, so it hurts to rank him this low. But when he fell off last season -- and you saw it -- the man fell hard.

He goes on to heap praise after praise on him.  Good stuff.

I don't think any of us doubt that he was great.  Few would argue that he trailed off last year.  The only thing left to find out is if he comes back fully healthy this year and if that is enough to get him back to 80 - 90 % of what he once was.

kg is my boy and all but

im not so sure he should be 8th. His stats dropped substantially last year (i know most people think its because of his knee surgery, and i hope so too). So hopefully he will play as the eighth best Pf this in the nba this year.

Even funnier, was when Wade said " I feel sorry for whoever has to guard us". Uh, I'm pretty sure there is a defense right here in Boston that specializes in punking teams just like yours Dwyane. Nobody scores on us easily.

but they didn't.

The only stats that dropped for KG last year were ones based on number of shots and total games aggregated.

His ‘rate’ stats and efficiencies, both on offense and defense were all comparable to his career averages – especially his defensive stats such as DRB% and Defensive Efficiency.

Kevin Garnett, statistically was still one of the elite defensive big men in the NBA last year.

He was also, again, the most valuable guy we could have on the floor. He missed games, yes. But when he was on the floor, he had the best net +/- impact per minute of any of our regulars.

I think reports of KG’s decline are a bit premature. He needs to stay healthy, of course. But if healthy, he should continue to be one of the premier PFs in the game. And he started to look much healthier down the stretch and through the playoffs, so that is a very good sign.

Rankings

Doesn’t mean anything. Kg don’t care about that. He just wants that gold and us Celtic fans want it too.

Don’t think we’ll ever see KG even 80% of his former self. Regardless dude is an icon.

Still to this day can’t believe he’s a Celtic.

KG got a total of 9 rebounds in games 6 and 7 of the finals combined, and couldnt defend Pau Gasol.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it. Last year in the postseason KG destroyed 3 solid-to-great scoring PFs in the first 3 rounds, then in the Finals he played Gasol to a draw when they were on each other. Gasol is currently ranked #1 on that list. When it counted, KG was much closer to #1 than #8…last year.

I agree with those that have him at the top of the class for this year.

Plus, most of Gasols points came when KG wasn't near him.

He got most of his points when KG wasn’t guarding, and if KG was guarding, he would try to use picks and other trick plays to get around him, or offensive rebounds to score. His actual percentage was very low when KG was guarding him. I know, that is the match-up that i kept my eyes on.

Gasol is great on the offensive end but he is still soft defensively. He really cannot guard any top level power forward. Anytime KG wanted to he could score on Gasol. Furthermore, Gasol benefitted the most from Perk’s absence. Its just a match-up thing but Perk forces Gasol away from his comfort zone much the same way he does Dwight Howard. KG also defends him well. I think if the Celtic bigs can be healthy enough to get to the finals, Gasol’s ranking may be reevaluated

Ask KG

and he probably doesn’t know his ranking now or ever coz he doesn’t give a s**t!! This man is all about winning, right now, he knows one thing, he only has one NBA RING!!
